I loved the beach view. it wouldā€™ve been nice for the restaurant to be open even for breakfast. I was sorry the hot tub was not working. I think the new owner should put a little investment into this beautiful area. It could be made so much better.

A Place in the SUN

My studio was very comfortable and clean. It had the basic supplies for cooking simple meals. I was very close to the beach, shopping and a variety of wonderful restaurants. A very convenient fresh fruit and vegetable stand was right outside the gates that offered delicious ready-made fruit salads as well as Dominican produce. The staff at Hotel Alegria were friendly and always ready to help with big smiles. Joseph in reception provided excellent service (including fresh coffee) along with the very nice cleaning and maintenance staff. I would stay for longer next time!

Beautiful Sea view

I stayed a couple of nights in a sea view room, which I absolutely loved. I never use AC and here they has something much better: mosquito screens and a fan. The view was wonderful and you can hear the sound of the ocean all day and night, since the hotel is located at the end of the beach, off from noise. Wifi is good and there's a fridge, too. The bed was really comfy and the decoration easy on the eye. The staff was friendly and the owners are renovating the place to be even better. I will definitely be back, when in Cabarete.

As digital nomads, the internet is not reliable enough to work from. Our room was right next to one of the WIFI routers and still was going in and out and not able to hold a teams call. The water was also not very hot for showers. Hotel management did accommodate us by refunding us the remaining days and we paid and stayed for only one night before moving to Kite Beach at an airbnb for the remainder of our stay and had no problems and even worked from the beach while watching the kite surfers which was very cool!

Sub-par for the price

I landed at this place because there was no other suitable availability near Cabarete beach for the dates I wanted. I paid the same price for this place that I would have paid at a 4 star nearby. The place is clean but the accommodations are extremely basic and poor quality. We had to pay cash which was not stipulated in our reservation. No one carries that much cash for safety reasons. Manager/Owner was also kind of rude to his Receptionist, Joseph. Needless to say, I will not be staying at this place in the future.

A nice hotel to stay if you are on a budget

This was my first visit to Cabarete after a 5 year absence. Back then, I traveled to Cabarete each week for 2 months and stayed in a different hotel. First of all, the hotel staff is friendly and welcoming. The hotel is very close to the only supermarket in town (Janet's supermarket), which has a small restaurant in the 2nd floor that serves daily a fairly wide variety of typical dominican dishes(rice & red beans, boiled chicken, boiled pork, grilled chicken, beef steak, salad and much more) only at lunch time (noon-2pm). If you, at some point, get tired of the beach restaurants, this is a great option and a very affordable one. The room has all the basics: A/C, Flat screen TV, cable TV, a small refrigerator, a shower, hot water and a small safe for your precious items, offered at no additional cost. I specifically asked for an ocean view room which happened to had a balcony. Wifi is also available. Access to the beach is very easy and it's just a mere 2 minute walk from the hotel's lobby through a corridor located between two neighboring hotels. From here and taking an additional 8 minute stroll along the sandy beach, you'll reach Downtown Cabarete, where all the action is. The surroundings as well as the installations are safe at any time of day or night. I felt very safe anywhere I went in Cabarete. Of course, basic personal security measures, as any other place in the world, should be taken. Price-quality relationship for this hotel is positively correlated.

Hotel Alegria is nestled between two bigger and fancier (more $$$) hotels (Velero Beach and Ultra Infinity). It should be mentioned up front that Alegria does not offer direct access to the beach, nor does it have a pool. However, the beach is only 5 min away on foot. Alegriaā€™s location is excellent; only a few minutes to Janetā€™s supermarket and several inexpensive restaurants (Papiā€™s and La Cocina de Mami). Despite being close to Cabareteā€™s main street, Alegria is reasonably quiet. Alegria does not currently (Feb 2023) have food services, but coffee is available in the morning. The booking procedure is ā€˜differentā€™ because Alegria doesnā€™t accept credit cards. We found out that this is not that unusual in Cabarete; many of the smaller restaurants donā€™t accept credit cards either. With respect to booking, one has to pay a deposit in advance (by PayPal) and pay the remainder (in cash) upon arrival. Once I understood the procedure, it all turned out OK. We had a 2-bedroom apartment on the ground floor (with 4 beds and 2 bathrooms). It was spacious and clean. Moreover, the place was cleaned thoroughly every day and the beds were made. The kitchen had most of the needed ā€˜stuffā€™ and we even used the gas oven once (with advice from the staff). The bathrooms were average with a functional shower and hot and cold water. Thereā€™s a safe. Drinking water is provided from five gallon containers. Importantly, the staff was very friendly and willing to help.
