Suite Alder embraced by nature, Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia

On the first floor of a charming wooden chalet-style cottage, perched on the side of a hill, this suite can sleep 3 people. The chalet is part of a small complex scattered across a pretty, organic farm. The suite would suit family or friends who want to get out into nature.

The light-filled room is furnished with a contemporary double bed and a single day bed. There is an armchair and a flat-screen TV. Tucked in the corner is a separate sitting area where guests can relax with a book or make themselves a cup of coffee. Double glass doors in the bedroom open onto a private wooden balcony with a café-style table and chairs. Guests can sit and admire the panoramic views with a glass of wine.

Next to the front door of the cottage is a charming shaded veranda with outside seating. This overlooks the extensive shared garden with a children’s play area. In the garden, guests will find communal seating and dining set-up’s as well as a BBQ.

Location
The farm is in the Koroska region, close to the border between Slovenia and Austria, in beautiful countryside. It is the perfect base for a hiking or mountain biking break. The area is well-known for its many trails and stunning landscapes. The Single Trail Park Jamnica is on the doorstep and offers a wide variety of routes for all levels.

In the winter months, there are several ski resorts within 30 minutes of the farm but the best destination is Ski Centre Kope (1 hour). For adrenaline-seekers there are several frozen waterfalls or mountains to climb.

There are many activities for children and adults alike. Near the farm, there are themed walking routes where you can learn about the local nature and traditions (in several languages). Close by there is Huda Luknja cave to explore (1 hour) or alpacas to meet at Alpaka Land (45 minutes). The fairytale forest at Dezela Skratov (40 minutes) makes are great day out for younger children, and for a more grown-up adventure, try the Enigmarium Escape Room in Slovenj Gradec (40 minutes)

There are supermarkets and grocery stores in Prevalje (17 minute drive) for self-catering. The town has all the amenities visitors will need, including banks, restaurants and pharmacies.

Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana is just 2 hours away and is a fascinating day trip.

The nearest airport is at Klagenfurt in Austria (1 hour) alternatively, Ljubljana Airport is a 1 hour, 50 minute drive.
