Hotel Kampa4.0 out of 5.0

Not easy to find by car due to one way system. Check in was efficient. Hotel decor was very 1980s/90s. Needs an upgrade. Room was functional but quite old fashioned furniture. Stains on the bedcover though! Bathroom had been upgraded. Step up - beware of stubbing toes. Restaurant was cavernous - only used for breakfast which was buffet - fresh pancakes but no egg station. Quite a lot of choice otherwise. However, hot options had been sat around for a while as so few people were at breakfast the day I was ther. For dinner when I asked for options outside of the hotel, the reception staff recommended local pub (name - mouse something or other??) just 2 minutes down the road - great of them to recommend as it was excellent value food with a good atmosphere.
Since the reception, the hotel is very peculiar. The room we stayed in was simple, but spacious and confortable with a nice view to Kampa Park and the river. The breakfast hall is spectacular and full of many nice way for starting another day. Staff is helpful. And the location of the hotel is perfect: a small walk to Carlo Bridge, but out of the crazy crowd for ending the day quietly. Truly recommended
The hotel is in an excellent location - on a quiet street but within very short walking distance of the 'small town' and the Charles Bridge etc. Lots of lovely bars and restaurants near by. The hotel staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. (I left my phone in the room and they posted it to me the same day and made sure it was carefully packaged!) Everyone spoke perfect English. The breakfasts were excellent with a fantastic range of food that would suit everyone from the healthiest to the heartiest eaters! The dining room is very quirky - full of armour and swords! The room was small but very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was modern and the shower was very good. The rooms were quiet and you could open the windows for ventilation. The only thing that stopped me giving the hotel an excellent was the fact that the rooms needed a bit of updating. But there again we didn't come to Prague to hang around the hotel room. Overall I thought this was a good value hotel and we very much enjoyed our stay here.
We recently stayed at Hotel Kampa Stara Zbrojnice for the third time over the last eight years. The location is perfect: a short walk to all of central Prague, but on a quiet street near lots of restaurants. The breakfast is the best we have had anywhere in terms of variety of choices, quality and quantity. This time we traveled with our family, occupying four rooms over the course of about a week. The service provided was excellent; courteous and friendly maids and helpful men at the desk round the clock to answer our questions and concerns.
All was OK. Super destination and services. Historical building and generous breakfast. We were here on a business trip. We were four in total and spent one night in the hotel. Some rooms are quite dark, but this is the historical center of the city.
We stayed one night in this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised how clean and quiet it was. The breakfast buffet had a great selection and the decor was elaborate and gave us plenty to look at. The staff was friendly and helpful. The convenient location allowed us to access all of the main attractions by food and we discovered an incredible Mexican restaurant across the street. We highly recommend staying here while visiting Prague.
Me and my partner were looking for a quiet peaceful break that was cheap and good location. This hotel is in a spot 5 minutes from Charles Bridge. The staff at the reception is helpful and friendly. For the money we paid i was happy.
The hotel is located at the calm side of the town and in walking distance from the city center. We stayed there 1 night on a cold February weekend. We had our first surprise when we entered the room. It had two separate single beds placed across each other. Even though we have written that we want a double bed not a twin room during the reservation, this was what we got even without mentioning at the check in. We asked for changing the room, after a short wait we got a new room. It was room on the 4th floor, probably located at the corner of the building, having a very tiny window and old furniture. When we returned to the room in the evening, we realized that the room is too cold (we are familiar with such weathers, we live in another mid-European city that is pretty cold as well). Reception provided us extra blankets. We called the reception again and they brought us a portable heater which was way too noisy to sleep with and wasn't enough to warm up the room. Other than the room was not sound proof, breakfast was OK. But all the others have no importance if you are cold...
Generally ok, the rooms are a good size but ours smelled funny - very much like drains. Bed was firm but comfortable. No tea/coffee facilities in the rooms but there is a mini bar which you have to pay for, including the water. The safe requires a deposit of 500 Kc which was a bit irritating as that meant we couldn't get it back to spend until we checked out. Bathroom was of a good standard and spotless. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast. I had high hopes having read some of the reviews but it was pretty poor, things went unreplenished and it was overall lacking in quality and choice. We opted for just toast mainly. The location is great, set in a quiet street and only a few mins walk from the Charles Bridge leading to the old town. Staff were friendly.
Oh! From the first step entering our room in that amazing hotel Kampa i felt the real smell of boiled sauerkraut that was unforgettable! You cannot get rid of it, it follows you, everywhere, i had to sleep with the window open and got sick in the morning. My trip to beautiful Prague was almost spoiled. But paracetamol saved the situation. As a matter of fact, i woke up in the morning with a crazy smell of pancackes (a little bit better, ye) my clothes, hair everithing absorbed this arome, nice boucqet, isn't it. The problem is, that on the firrst floor of Kampa is restaurant, and smell of coocking food comes into the all rooms of first and second floor, And due to the poor ventilaition you cannot get rid of it at all. What we did? We asked to change the room and we got the new room on the highest floor, that was pretty normal, small, but luckily no smell at all. Bad sound isolation i can hear my neighbours next door coughing. So, location is normal if you like to walk a lot. Breakfast for me, the lover of healthy food was unaceptable. The only advantage i can point is politeness of stuff at the reception. Will i come back to this hotel again? No way, i know better place for the same price.
