Surprisingly silent place with medieval spirit. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Nice live piano music during early morning breakfast made my day. Rooms are clean and bed was really comfy. If I ever need to stay, I would come again... P.S. maybe better tea brand would make me more happy:-)
Beautifully unique designed interior that has a great vibe to it. It is also very well located but still calm. The staff is very friendly and helpful for tourism guidance! Huge plus: delicious crêpes made in front of you every morning!
The interior of the hotel is medieval type. The staff are very kind and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect, it'a a ten minute walk to the old town through the Charles bridge, and the river side is very close and beautiful. The area surrounding the hotel is very quite which means you are getting a good nights sleep. Breakfast was great, there was sausages and eggs, different kinds of cheeses, cereals and fresh salad. The hotel is very clean, towels were being changed everyday. All in all, it was a pleasant stay in the hotel and we would recommend it to all our friends.
Good and centeral location and still Quiet. Lovely breakfast with live piano music. The room is very clean and the beds are so comfortable. One tv channel in english. The rest- german and russian. Staff very nice. Defenetly recomended.
I'll start off by saying that it was HOT in Prague this summer. Because the hotel is located in a UNESCO World Heritage protected area there is little that can be done to ameliorate the situation of no A/C. In did cool of a bit at nighttime and in every room of the persons of the group was a fan. The reception area is small but the service there was friendly and attentive. Houskeeping was good and the breakfasts were wonderful. The rooms are typical European size, not too large but adequate. The bathrooms were also small but seem to have recently been updated. Each room had a fridge/bar that had enough room to chill your own water. The hotel is located near a park, which can be accessed through the bar to the outdoor patio and dining area. The park runs along the Vlatava and in a few minutes you are at the Charles bridge with access to the other side of the river. Walking in either direction from the bridge there are many restaurants and shops. A walk along the bridge is a must, not only for teh statues but also for the art and the perfoming artists. From the front door going to the right of the hotel and walking a few minutes is a streetcar/tram stop. From there you have access to many other parts of the city. Going out the front of the hotel to the left will bring you to a main street and another bridge that crosses the Vlatava and would bring you to Wenceslaus Square, a major center of the city.
Hotel is located on quieter side of Prague. Trams very convenient nearby and takes about an hour from airport via bus, metro and tram. Hotel has amazing display of armoury in restaurant. Breakfast wide choice of hot and cold food. Probably the best I have had in Prague, particular mention must be made of the pianist who provided an enjoyable background. Wifi fast and reliable. Rooms have fans rather than air conditioning but windows also open so no problem. An improvement would be tea and coffee making facilities in the room. There comes a time even in Prague when you cannot drink any more beer!! Also checkout is at 11am rather than the more normal 12 at most other quality Prague hotels
I went there with the wife, we stayed for 4 nights. First of all the place looks just like in the photos, I mean the whole hotel, not just a few corners somewhere. Has a really nice atmosphere inside with all the medieval decorations. Outside in the bar area it's just like any other backyard though. We ate a few times in the hotel, food was good. She's a vegetarian and found some dishes she could eat aswell. Breakfest was roughly the same everyday, but it was everything you could hope for. Salty and sweet stuff on buffet. The only minus on breakfest, there is a piano player playing and singing every morning and to be honest that's a bit cheesy. We wouldn't mind it if it was something quiet in the background but it just makes the whole room really loud! It's not what you would want to listen first thing in the morning. If you get passed that, you're good. He's abilities as a player/singer? I've heard better, I've heard worse... Rooms were roomy and clean. Minibar, safe included. Didn't use each. Hair dryer included. Mattress was really hard which was the only minus! Cleaning every day. Tv with 9 or 10 channels, mostly german or russian. Front desk guy was really helpfull and polite, spoke good english. They change money in front desk. Rate for € was 24,something. Most places around town was 25,something, some places even more. ATM only gives you 23 so have cash with you! We encountered two shifts of waiters at the backyard bar/restaurant. Sat there every evening. The first ones were really nice, polite, thoughtfull, brought candless when it came dark, made jokes, changed ashtrays and all that. Spoke good english. Other two would keep the benches up (you don't know are you allowed to sit? I smoke cigars, so I don't want to smoke around people eating if I have a choise), have us sit in the dark, don't speak english more than what's in the menu. And keep the back yard's gate to the park locked all day (other shift would close it at dusk). Almost gave a rating of 3 but as the overall experience was really nice, the location is perfect and the price was reasonable I gave 4. If it wasn't for the difference between the waitress and the hard mattress, it would've been a 5! Thumbs up! If/when we go to praha the next time, we just might book the same hotel.
Premise: 1st time in Prague. It's summer and a colleague booked the hotel last minute because of the nature of the job. exhausted from earlier trip, jet lagged and moving. just had dinner in their outdoor restaurant. Here it goes....I go down to the restaurant where breakfast was provided to have dinner. No one was there, scenario makes me think, is the food that bad because no one's on site? I still hang around a little because I didn't want to go out because I'm not feeling well, I just need 1 proper meal since last decent meal I had was breakfast. I see a waiter (not looking so young, chubby, short, dark hair) this happened around 9-9:30pm Czech time. Please don't get me wrong, I hardly write negative reviews, I feel this was a negative experience but my heart is just to share. You decide if you want to go or not. It is not my heart for them to lose business by posting this. I just feel the need to share my experience since we all are coming from different backgrounds. What may feel negative to me may feel totally ok with you. So going back, I come across this chubby maybe middle aged guy and he points me to outside. Ok. That may not be the way I would do it (been in customer service for more than 10 years) but at least I got pointed in the right direction. Normal waiting service, server asks for a drink, gives the menu. When I was done eating and asking for the bill, I show him my keycard and he says I need the other card. I apologized & told him I didn't bring it nor my purse, normally I just give room no.and sign. (I've travelled 11% of the globe accdg to TripAdvisor or google maps). He blurts out, yesterday or some other day he had people saying the same thing and he ended up working 2 days for the bill. I said, I'm sorry, I won't do that to you (I feel sorry for the guy having background in hospitality) and told him I'll get the card, get my cc or even pay cash. I come down finally shown him what he wanted, he checks the concierge and makes a comment, there is no one in 424. I kept quiet for a minute and offered to pay cash and he finally gets the confirmation from the concierge. I asked for his name after the transaction and he refused to give it. He said, in their culture only friends do that. I said, ok and left. I like the hotel and the service even if they didn't have ac in their rooms. But this guy ruined my experience. This server needs to learn customer service. I know the culture is different but the rest of the staff were not rude in their ways of conveying a message. I t makes me think twice of recommending this restaurant. im glad I'm checking out tomorrow.
Fantastic hotel very close to city centre, yet in enjoyably quiet environment. Walking distance to centre either via Charles Bridge, or to islands (Strelecky ostrov, Slovansky ostrov),National Theatre or Narodni trida via Most Legii. The restaurant in old armoury style is really beautiful, great choice of meals for breakfast buffet and lunch / dinner menu has something for everyone. Parking available onsite. Evening walks on the riverside are a must!
Location is very best. Not only close to center of city but also far from noise of turistic places. Decoration reflect medieval soul, just like all city. Rooms are clean, well lighted and wide. Especially, bed and bedclotes are comfortable as much as your home . Breakfast have very much alternative. Maybe staff could be more helpfull about customers simple requests...
