Hotel Hastal Prague Old Town

Attentive, friendly and helpful staff. Ample breakfast. Comfortable Fifth floor room with big window looking out over rooftops and church spires. No doubt would have been quiet at this level, esp as it was at the back of hotel, except for the extremely noisy elevator in constant use right next to us! Avoid booking this room if you are a light sleeper you but even this did not spoil our stay in this family owned charming place in the Old Town.

Nice hotel, 10 minute walk to best places in Prague. Staff very friendly and helpful. We got an upgrade to 6th floor which had a great view but had to walk from 5th floor to 6th floor because elevator only worked until 5th floor. But compare this rate $69 a nite to Intercontinental at $250 a nite, hey I'll walk one flight up. Also there is a bar on the corner so taxis hang out there so it's easier to catch a cab. CAUTION: When you use the computer in the dining room make sure you log out! I by mistake logged into another 2 people's gmail accounts while there because they didn't log out.

The room was very small but warm and comfortable. The main light didn't work properly but I managed to fix it on the night before we left. i have no complaints because some of the staff were very friendly, especially the owner, and breakfast was great. I will always stay there if I go to Prague again as the location is just fantastic! it is also one of only five or six hotels in Prague that is owned by Czechs.

Staff was courteous and helpful, especially Tom. Room was small and sparse but very comfortable. The real standout is the cost and location! Being right next to the church, I found it very easy after only a day to find my way around all of Old Town and much of Praha 1, and get back when I wanted. There are so many landmarks from here, it's hard to get lost. And for the price, I can't imagine it getting much better. Definitely would recommend and plan to return.

After four visits to lovely Prague, we finally landed the right hotel! And Hotel Hastal is it.The Hotel Hastal is a fine hotel. Here's why:1, it is an independent hotel run by a Prague-born and raised owner/manager, [...], who knows the city and its people very well;2, [...] never accepts tour groups;3, [...] is on site daily and has a professional but friendly relationship with hisemployees;4, [...] and his staff are quick to spot problems and are responsive to guests' requests. We found the location to be just right--handy for sightseeing and eating, but out of the heavily-traveled immediate Old Town Square area. And if the traditional, heavy Czech food of Prague weighs you down, there are always French and Anglo options: Chez Marcel a few doors west of the hotel and the James Joyce Pub, about three minutes' walk.

This is a small hotel in a very good location near the old town square . Actually a 9 minute walk and in fact I spent 5 days there and never took a taxi or bus anywhere .You must take a taxi from the airport which is $35 dollars US . I must say , however , that the room was the smallest I have stayed in anywhere , anytime . However , it is clean and quite after 10pm but the walls are paper thin . Everything said , I did like this hotel for the price . The staff are accomodating as well . Everything you want is in close proximity including bars , restaurants and discos which start late and go all night .Be sure and buy some saugages from the restaurants near the square which sell them to go right on the street . Casinos are also in walking distance and Charles Bridge is about a 25 min. walk with lots of shopping onthe way . Be sure and visit the old square at night as it is beautiful . I would not recommend the hotel to a friend BUT I would probably ( no definitely )stay there again . You should remember that I am an experienced traveler .

From our first step into Hastal, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff genuinely wanted to help make our stay as pleasant an experience as possible. The room was comfortable (the bed looked uncomfortable but was awesome) and there was free breakfast everyday.

I was a bit worried when I read some of the recent reviews of this hotel complaining about small rooms, unhelpful staff and very mediocre food quality. But I already had a reservation there and I didn´t want tocancel it. By the way, there are very positive reviews as well, so I said to myself that the truth must be somewhere in the middle and decided to go and test the quality of accommodation and service myself. The hotel taxi took me to a quiet little square with a dominant church. The hotel is quite small but very cosy and so was the room (comparing to some 3star hotel rooms in Paris it was huge). Everything was clean and tidy. There was absolutely no problem with service, I got extra cushion upon request, the receptionists were very nice and helpful. The buffet breakfast was more than satisfactory. In a nutshell, it´s really worththe money and I don´t hesitate to recommend it.

When we arrived we were told that our reservation was for 1 person when in fact we were 2. The rooms were so small one could barely move in them. The dining room/bar was so small and stuffy the included breakfast was less than enjoyable. Please find another place to stay.

Just a one night stay at this lovely Hotel. It was booked for me by my company and I don't they were too bother where to put me, but they looked at the price, which was incredible for a centre-based 3* hotel. Room was clean and light, food was good too.

Another time in Prague for a meeting, this time in new hotel. Really impressed with the rates and the quality: rooms were clean, breakfast went on until 10am and evening menu was also good. The local beer tasted good so I would definately recommend this hotel and Prague is a must see city of 2010!

Excellent location which could not be beat--just minutes walk from everything. Breakfast was quite good and very ample, and the staff was prompt when requests were made. Very clean bathrooms, although the beds were too hard for my taste. Extra bedding made them much more comfortable. Have dinner in the restaurant or order from room service, the food is amazing and very cheaply priced.

My only complaint is their dining area is extremely small with only seven tables. Several times I had to sit at the small bar to eat breakfast. Also, people smoke in this small dining area making it very unpleasant. Which is very good, and plenty of it. Breakfast is included in the price of the room. The hotel is within walking distance of practically every point of interest. The architecture of Prague is unbelivably beautiful!! The downside of Prague is most establishments have no non-smoking areas. But, the worse thing about Prague is the enormous amount of graffiti on almost all of the beautiful historic buildings. Its unbelievable that the government hasn't done something to curtail this descecration as the archi-tecture is the primarly drawing card to the city of Prague. There should be drastic measures enforced by the government instilling stiff fines, and even jail time to put a stop to this.

The hotel was ok, but the internet service was almost non existant. When I asked the people at the front to help, they explained to me that internet service was really "free" and that it was their option to provide it to us. [...]

This was not my first time in Prague. I have found this hotel through Orbitz and it was the best deal at time. I was not really sure what to expect for the low price I paid. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised: the hotel is in the great location (Prague's best kept secret) and the transport links around the hotel are just so convenient. If you want to spend only few days in Prague - make sure you stay right in the centre and soak up the atmosphere. The hotel is really cool and friendly staff are very helpful. I had no issues: the rooms were clean and the overall impression I got is that this hotel is trying very hard to keep their customers happy. I was really happy - great value for money in an excellent spot.

The city is very interesting and beautiful, the hotel was clean, the room was small for two people, the staff very king and available.

The staff is very helpful and extremely nice. I would stay there again, if back in Prague. Nothing fancy, nothing glamorou, but very nice. I recommend.

It was one of the best hotels we're ever stayed in and certainly the best in Prague! ( And we've stayed in many!) The location is unbeatable, you're in the centre of a city, but squere is very quiet. Everithing is so close, we didn't have to use public transportation at all, we walked everywhere. Our room was incredible, well equiped and best view in all Prague. Restaurant was amazing and food was better than I thought. Nothing was too much trouble for stuff, they were very kind, professional and understanding. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an amazing holiday. Lovely hotel at a greatprice and brilliant location.
