Absolutely wonderful hotel and hotel staff! Veronika, Alexandr and the entire staff are amazingly friendly, helpful and eager to make the visit special. My wife and I have stayed at many fine hotels around the world but I must say that we come away feeling that Hotel General is our favorite. We will be back. Prague is a truly special city and Hotel General makes it even better.
Jana at the front desk is very friendly and helpful!
Hotel was clean, nice and staff was very helpful. Breakfast was Delicious.
In a quite neighborhood, two blocks from the river, and close to public transit routes serving the entire city. Room was quite comfortable, high ceiling, nicely furnished...responsive and helpful staff. Did not like the picture of George Marshal hanging over my bed.
Excellent staff, service and breakfast. Excellent value. Nice room but on top floor with sloped ceiling cutting off part of room.Too far away from center of city. Public trandit ok but needed cabs many times
Overall, a very nice hotel; quiet and a bit away from the hustle and bustle. My only complaint was the AC did not effectively cool the room. The staff did provide me with a fan on request which helped but did not remedy the problem. They were quite apologetic and gave us a bottle of wine. The desk staff were very helpful and friendly and a special thanks to Martin who tracked down a supplier of CPAP equipment when mine malfunctioned--a real lifesaver!
Hotel has a cute theme where every room is named after a famous general but it is far from Pague 1 district where the action is. You you must take a tram or subway to go to Mustek or the Old Town every time. Do not stay at the 4th floor as the ceiling are a slope so unless you are a hunchback or 8 years old you will only get 1/2 of the room use. Sauna is additional cost and requires 2 hours notice. Staff was very nice but the hotel was OK.
We really enjoyed this hotel for the staff and the breakfast and ambiance. The first room we had -as we paid a very cheap rate - but on a low floor and the window faced a wall. We asked if they could move us, and they gave us one of their best rooms free of charge. The breakfast was to die for. Fresh fruit, vegetable, eggs any style, cereals, and they even had real Maple syrup. Wow.
Our stay at the Hotel General was a highlight of our visit to beautiful Prague. We were efficiently met at the airport and got to the hotel quickly. Vicky, Marian and Rami gave us a very warm welcome and a very thorough introduction to what to do in the city. The breakfast is bountiful and the staff was very accommodating to my husband's gluten-free diet. We were also allowed a late check-out, which was very appreciated. The location of the hotel is on a quiet street, but very convenient to shops and public transport to sites. We preferred to walk everywhere. We highly recommend this property.
My husband, my 15 month baby and I just got back from the Czech Republic where we stayed at a number of hotels. The Hotel General was by far our favorite. Everything about it was top-notch: the service and the rooms were exquisite. They were also very accommodating about our baby, which is not always the case. The breakfast was fabulous too. I've stayed at other five star hotels, and I am often underwhelmed. Staying at the Hotel General was truly a five star experience. We definitely plan to return. Note to other travelers: the hotel has a reasonably priced car service to and from the airport, and the driver is extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
