Falkensteiner Hotel Maria Prag4.0 out of 5.0

very close to the railway station, but across from the park on a somewhat quieter street. The hotel is on a corner and some room faces the street some the inner courtyard. Ours faced the inner court yard and was very quiet. The room itself was a larger room with a double bed and a sofa. nice size bathroom. The aircon didnt seem to work, no matter what we couldn't get it to lower the temperature and it made a "hell" of a noise. So we had it shut off and instead opened the window when we wanted som air. If you stay here in the summer, this could be a problem , if the aircon doesn't work. The door to the room didn't shut close, and every time anyone open the door to their room, ours vibrated because of the draft. There is a minibar and free nescafe capsule coffee maker, very nice (also tea....) The bed are a little hards, but we did have a lots of good nights sleeps (we stayed for 4 days). Breakfast was nice, lots to choose from and a nice expresso maker. Fitness room was very small and hot, no air con or windows in the basement. But you can get a work out as I did one. (treadmill, bike, stepmaschine. So all in all we had a very nice stay and if we return to Prag this would be a hotel that we would stay in again.
Later it turned out that the tire was not damaged (so what?). The parking in the hotel was the only place in Prague where our car was not under special supervision. Someone walked into our rooms around 6 pm. in our absence (without informing us) and he or she opened the windows - when we returned to the hotel in the evening, our rented 2 rooms were too chilled. The interior lock from the front door to the room did not work - so my colleague (a woman) could not close the door from the inside and she was afraid to sleep there.
Stayed for two nights and had a great time. The location is perfect if you are travelling by train and want to spend the night out in the city center. Breakfast is absolutely fabulous with everything you might want to eat, including a glass of sekt for those who like it bubbly.
We spent four nights in room 507 on a recent OAT trip. The good-sized room had a double bed, sofa with small table, desk, chair, closet with 8 real hangers and safe, fridge, TV which we did not use, and coffee and tea fixings. It faced the train station but was not particularly noisy even though it was opposite the elevator. The lighting was especially dim and the AC was modest. The bathroom had a vanity mirror placed much too high to use, liquid soap, vanity kit, and tissues. There were two medium and two "large" and exceptionally thin towels. No matter what comments management offers, the shower AND the bathtub are poorly designed and cannot be repaired by some maintenance person coming to look at it. The tub is much too short and the glass "shower curtain" has a gap between it and the tub. No matter what you do, the water will go everywhere, including on the floor and the counter top. The only way we could minimize some of the damage was to fold one of the thin towels in two and force it under the glass "shower curtain" so the water would splash the towel from the inside of the tub. It still leaked through the thin towel, but not as much. Maid service is a bit lax. One day the trash was not emptied; another day, there was no replacement bath mat or tea bags. If something is missing, ask the reception desk for replacements. Breakfast is substantial! Fruits, juices, cheeses, meats, grilled vegetables, cakes, cereals, eggs, breads, etc. Coffee was average. The location is close to Wenceslas Square and numerous restaurants, but a hike to the Castle. (We took airport bus to the train station and walked to the hotel from there. We used the #22 tram to get to the castle. Otherwise, we walked everywhere.) This hotel is large enough to accomodate tour groups. If we were coming here on our own, we would select a higher ranked hotel in a more central location.
From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Maric (iirc) the stay was superb. Our given room however had a shower over bath and I had previously e-mailed to check that the comfort room we were booking had a walk in shower, unfortunately there were none left however Maric gave us one of the disability accessible rooms which had what was basically a wet room & had marginally more space than the room we were initially given. Maric also came to our rescue again shortly afterwards when I discovered that our adaptor plug wouldn't fit, he loaned us one that did. With the exception of the bathroom all the amenities were the same; a huge comfortable bed, big wardrobe (with hangers) and plenty of shelves, a free safe, coffee maker with ingredients, mini bar fridge, dressing table and chair, corner seating and coffee table, TV, bedside cabinets, opening double glazed windows, air con / heater and should it get very cold there is even a plug in oil filled radiator. There's also a pillow menu where guests can choose extra or different pillows. I did get another pillow; a buckwheat & lavender one, fabulous options. There is a fresh supply of apples in the lobby area for guests to pick up as they want along with coffee which you can help yourself to. There was a free to use gym and sauna and you also arrange for a massage. The breakfast was superb, I'll try and list the options but there may be some I forget: Assorted cereals, fruit, boiled egg, scrambled egg, scrambled egg with ham, sausages, bacon, pancakes, croissants, doughnuts, pastries, apple strudel, various fresh breads, butter, yoghurt, salami, cheese, olives, chopped fruit, milk, coffee, tea, orange juice ....... suffice to say there was lots of choice and it was extremely good.
Our three day stay in Prague was enhanced by this great hotel. Very close to railway, quick, friendly check in and we were upgraded as our room was not quite ready. Spacious, modern and immaculate room. Lovely breakfast with a good selection of fresh food and baked goods. A bonus was a complimentary, lovely steam room and sauna in the basement. Additionally, a small gym and massage available. We would certainly recommend the Falkensteiner Maria Prague.
I am using this hotel quite regularly for business and leisure and I must say - hotel has perfect location near city center and reasonable price. Even though would be good if owner will make some refurbishment I must say if I compare price versus everything else it is fear deal. Staff is helping to customers, they have good breakfast, simply said I will return in future again :)
The front desk here is very helpful, friendly, and they speak excellent English. The included breakfast is an amazing buffet of just about anything you might think about eating for breakfast or lunch for that matter! The rooms are worn, but okay. But, everyone is having trouble with the showers. The glass door in the tub/shower leaks profusely, and there are no drains in the floor, so the bathroom becomes a wading pool if you're not careful. I stuff a towel between the tub and the glass door and it still puddles. Housekeeping spends a lot of time wiping up bathroom floors. Just maybe they should seal the doors!! And, speaking of housekeeping, on my final day and night, they never did show up! The hotel is a very short walk to the main train station in Prague.
Good and friendly Service, if we needed something or asked for information, they helped us right away. Very nice rooms. Good breakfast. And also spa with sauna. Good location. Gonna recommend this to everyone going to Prague!
Good amenities, free breakfast, fairly good location, walking distance to the old town tourist area and main square. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The location close to tourist attractions and public transportation are the main positive points.
