We stayed here for two nights and it was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and were happy to store our bags for the day (they also organised a car to take us to the station on day of depature.) The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfy. There was air conditioning in the rooms so they were nice and cool after the hot days. Breakfast had a great variety and there was something for everyone. Would stay here again.
We chose this hotel for its proximity to the Vltava and the Charles Bridge giving access to the old town and the Jewish quarter, not realizing that in high season it's nearly impossible to walk across the bridge for all the pedestrians, artists, performers and the occasional jazz band. The neighborhood is charming, lots of restaurants and cafés and historic buildings housing embassies, and the (steep!) climb to the castle is nearby. That said, our room overlooked the river (insist on a high room or you'll be looking into the café) and it was fascinating to watch the various kinds of boat traffic, and to listen to the water pouring over the weir nearby. The staff were kind and helpful and the beds very comfortable. However, this is an old building and the rooms are looking decidedly scruffy. The wood floors may justifiably be uneven, but they could still be polished and the dust and spiders removed from the corners and under the beds (we found a half-smoked packet of cigarettes under ours) and the paintwork smartened up. Our bathroom was tiny and the fittings could be described as historic. If you prefer character and squeaky floors to a generic modern hotel, this is the place for you, but it isn't cheap, and definitely not "luxury".
A great hotel, staff friendly, room amazing and close to all amenities for sightseeing. Overlooks Charles Bridge and the river.....so ideal for walking into the Old Town or taking in bars and shops. Excellent food and drink. You wouldn't be disappointed, will definitely be returning....
Arrived on Friday evening was told due to the room not being available we would be staying out short visit at the hotel next door (The Hotel Jezulatka), I will review them separately. The staff at Archibald were efficient and helpful (we had booked transfers for the journey back here and the staff took our details to make sure there was no confusion). The staff said we were welcome for breakfast there despite staying next door, we did eat at the resteraunt the following evening for a meal, it was excellent service despite being busy and the quality of the food was amazing my girlfriend loved the potato soup in a loaf. I would also say the location itself is perfect commanding the best view and access to the bridge, and just far away from the often too crowded access to old town, the street it's on is quiet and relaxed and perfect for walking to old town, or the other direction to the castle area and the monastery, also some great pubs in locality. I will book here again without hesitation and want to say thank you for a amazing visit. PS the hotel covered our tourist tax in the hotel the arranged for us.
Great location and a very helpful staff. Had a view of the river outside our window. Had to leave at 3:30AM to catch our flight home and they even had a breakfast box for us to take. Looking forward to a return visit.
A short 20 minutes away from the airport, the Archibald hotel is well situated on a cobblestone street a stones throw away from the Charles bridge. We found the location perfectly situated between the trendy touristy areas and the castle district. The walk to the subway station is about 5-7 minutes and the tram line is less than 2 minutes walk. We arranged a day trip and the tour company picked us from the hotel. Prague is a very walkable city and we found this location ideal. The hotel is more like an upscale B&B. The rooms are spacious and ours had a great view of the river and Charles bridge. The furnishings are not modern, rather rustic, but very comfortable. We booked a double room and were greeted with a sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. The rooms also have central air. The beds were firm but quite comfortable. If you’re looking for modern chic, you will be disappointed. The breakfast selection is diverse, ranging from eggs, pastries, breads, cereals, bacon and sausages. The hotel also offers a “happy hour” in the afternoon where they serve free light fare for the guests. The hotel also has a restaurant that offers a 20% discount for dinner. There are plenty of food options in Prague. The street with this hotel has plenty of restaurants lined along the street. The only criticism I had was they do not allow early check in, not even 10 minutes before check-in. Our flight arrives early and we had to wait until exactly 2pm before we could go to our room, even though we specified it in our reservation. I do understand the check in policy is 2pm, but it would have been nice to offer early check in. I'm giving this hotel a 3* rating due to the outdated furnishings. The location is what makes this hotel great. Absolutely recommend this hotel.
Just back from a four night stay at Archibald at the Charles Bridge. Hotel was ideally situated just off the Charles Bridge and on the bank of the River Vlatava. Room was very spacious and cleaned every day. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean and had a selection of toiletries which were constantly replenished. There is also free wifi in the room. Breakfast was continental with a few hot food items. The hotel has a restaurant but we did not eat dinner here. This is my 6th visit to Prague and I would be happy to stay here again. All the attractions of Prague are just a short stroll from the hotel so it's a good base to stay.
We had a 2 night break and chose the Archibald because of the location. The truth is when on a city break like this you are hardly in the hotel anyway so all you really need is a decent bed and good shower. Our room was fine, decent size and we paid for the river view. The view is good when standing at the window but because of the nature / design of the building the windows are quite small so I don't think I'd bother with this at extra cost. Bed was large and comfortable.Shower was okay as both temperature and pressure varied several times within a 5 minute shower. We weren't overwhelmed by breakfast - I think adequate probably describes it best. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment. We're giving 4 stars but one of these is for the location otherwise I'd say it was only 3 stars.
We stayed here before and I absolutely gushed about the room, the hotel, and the location. Obviously, the location hasn't changed, but the hotel room (and basically the rest of the stay) were lackluster, at best. We booked well in advance of our stay and needed two rooms for us and our two children. Neither one of the rooms was what I would consider up to the hotel's previous standards. When we stayed before, we had a lovely view, nice amenities, a great room and plenty of space. This time, we had a garden room (which basically means that it's on the first floor and facing a noisy courtyard where people like to gather and smoke) and a room in a side building that smelled musty and only had a view if you literally stuck your head out through the alcove and through the window to see a sliver of the river. NO ambiance in either room. NO charm. I asked the front desk to move at least one of the rooms and we were told they were full. . strange that we didn't see tons of people around. Maybe because we were only staying one night? Perhaps they didn't feel it was "worth it" to honor our booking request prior to check in nor after check in? Without the view (and at least a fresh smelling room), we might as well have taken an overnight train. The breakfast in the restaurant (included with the rooms) was lovely, so no complaints there. Strange, though, for a "full" hotel it was our family and one other in the restaurant for breakfast. . . We'll certainly be looking for another hotel if we return to Prague. It makes me sad to say this, especially since we raved about it to our kids before we arrived. Location--can't be beat Rooms--you really need to be careful Breakfast--plenty of variety
We arrived at the hotel and parked across the street in a pedestrian area. The male front desk person immediately got us a parking permit and found us a parking spot around the corner. He then helped with our luggage and checked us in. The hotel is right on the river and our room had a window with a view. There are lots of restaurants in the area including one in the hotel and the old town is within easy walking distance. The parking spot cost 20 Euros per night but the buffet breakfast and wifi is included in the room rate. Considering the prime location the room rate was very reasonable.
