My sister, brother-in-law, and I had the fortune of staying at the Appia for 5 nights last week in one of the hotel's 2 'apartments'. We couldn't have asked for anything more than the superb experience at the Appia. Located centrally in a disirable neighborhood housing embassies, the Appia is an oasis in an extraordinarily busy area of Prague. Wine every night on the very private terrace of the 2 bedroom apartment was fantastic - the Italian cultural center was 50 feet from the terrace, with no windows overlooking the private space. The complimentary breakfasts were, again, quite nice - served in an historic portion of the hotel, which is comprised of 21 very upscale rooms at a reasonable price. Would I recommend the Appia (frankly, as a very discerning traveler with 30 years of international travel)? Absolutely, YES! If you are a family or a 3-4 people who want 2 bedrooms + 2 baths with a great living room and kitchen area. and large terrace, the Appia is for you!
It was a dream trip to Prague and great excellent place to Stay at Apia Hotel. The building is wonderful. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly. The room was clean and spacious with kitchen and living room. The breakfast was lovely. We all are on gluten free diet and they ( the chefs) made us a special gluten free strawberry crepes which was fabulous! Even without we requested such a nice breakfast! The area is fantastic. The best part of the city. Absolutely beautiful and quite. The hotel has a neat small garden which my daughter enjoyed playing in. I fell in love with Prague ( Praha , as locals call) and definitely come back to this gorgeous city and will stay at Apia hotel again. Strongly recommended.
I highly recommend this hotel! I made this booking for my husbands birthday after hours of researching. I’m glad I took the time; the staff were wonderful and the hotel was absolutely stunning. Upon checking in, we were given an upgrade on our room to a junior suite which was a lovely surprise. The suite had 4 very large rooms, the bathroom was beautiful, as was the bedroom. It was immaculate and charming. The hotel is set in a very quiet area, not once did I hear other guests or people from the street. The breakfast was lovely, though the sausages are like hot dogs- but you can’t have everything! It took us about 10 minutes to get to the Charles Bridge and then about another 15 to get to the old town, reception are very helpful for pointing out routes to take and places to see, such as to Prague Castle which is only a short (but steep) walk away. If you don’t fancy a walk for dinner, the St Martin bistro is about 2 minutes walk from the hotel and the courtyard is beautiful- but go early as it gets busy. For a fresh made pizza the San Carlo restaurant is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel and you could be mistaken for thinking you’ve wound up in Italy. Overall, this is one of the nicest, best situated hotels I’ve ever been to and if I ever return to Prague then I would know exactly where to stay. Thank you Appia staff for making our trip so good.
The location of the hotel is just perfect, situated between the Castle (5 min. uphill) and the city center. St Nicholas church / Lesser town square (5 min.) and Charles Bridge (10 min.) are within walking distance. Although it's 2 streets away from Nerudova, with its beautiful houses and many shops, the hotel stands in a quiet little street and has a nice inner cloister-like garden, providing a feeling of intimacy. Warm welcome, large and elegantly-decorated (wooden floors,...) rooms and suites, comfortable bathrooms. A very nice breakfast buffet is served on the second floor, below the roof trusses / woodwork. Although there's no restaurant in the hotel, some very nice places are within reach (St Martin restaurant 200 yards away, Czech Slovak restaurant on Ujezd (the best place in Prague for an elegant although casual dinner) less than 10 minutes away. Flawless...
Just back and really enjoyed this hotel. It's a haven of peace in an upmarket area and after a days sightseeing, it was bliss to return to the cool and calm. Yet it's just 10 mins walk to Charles Bridge and 5 mins from Prague Castle. The hotel was spotlessly clean, staff sweet & helpful, all you could want at breakfast with Champagne offered over the weekend. We had a huge family suite with a sunny balcony, but the pretty garden was lovely too. Ladies - no conditioner in the bathroom, so need to bring your own or buy. There was two small convenience stores very close to the hotel, lovely restaurants on either side and hundreds more and bars minutes away. Top sights were all great, but did get very busy, so book ahead if you can and starting off early helps. Highlight for us was an ebike tour based a minute from the hotel, but it's a great city with lots for everyone, Take a brolly. It was hot and sunny, but afternoon thunderstorms brought short, torrential downpours.
Stayed from the 19 th to 22nd July in room 206. We have been to Prague many times before but this was our first time at the Appia. It is by far the best hotel we have stayed in, the staff were brilliant and knew who we were and had our key ready when we came in. Breakfast was a vast array with everything you could want and the champagne was a nice touch at the weekend. Will definitely be looking to book again next year.
We stayed in a deluxe double room in the original building. The staff were superb, friendly but not to intrusive. The area of the hotel was refined, with a number of international Embassies near by, but literally footsteps from a number of great restaurants and bars. The breakfast is served in an attic type area which is stunning, and unusual. Ample choice from smoked salmon, to champagne at the weekend. Truly a great hotel
Fantastic nice hotel with that little extra. Nice and clean rooms. The staff is friendly and gives fantastic service. Breakfast is very good served in a nice and cozy atmosphere. Parking for car, also charger for El-car. But the garagedoor and the streets are narrow so you need to take your time and not «cut corners». That can become expensive. But it is worth the drive. And it’s not far to walk from the hotel to see all the beautiful arcitecture and many of the great things Prague has to offer. The only thing negative for me are the hard matresses. But we haven’t yet found a hotel on this trip with soft enough beds to satisfy my need for comfort.
Just back from 4 nights in Prague. We decided to split our stay with two nights either side of the Charles Bridge as so glad we did and so glad we chose the Appia. The area by the hotel is lovely and gives you such a different feel about Prague to just seeing the Old Town Square side. We absolutely loved it. It is quite hilly but just take your time. Also worth noting that Uber is incredibly good value here. We had elderly parents with us and when eating at Jo's Bar down nearer to the Charles Bridge they took an Uber back to hotel rather than the 8 minute walk uphill. Only cost the equivalent of just over £2 which is superb value. The hotel. Beautiful old building, the breakfast area is stunning along with great food - eggs amazing, and the grounds are kept great with lovely flowers and seating areas. We had three rooms, one Prestige Junior Suite and two double rooms. Unfortunately we could not get the suite we wanted but to be fair they put us on the top floor of the adjoining building so all three rooms together. The suite was really spacious, not quite as luxurious as some of the other suites we had seen on the website but still great and we really liked it. The other two rooms were also great and included one of the only rooms with a show cubicle which Dad was really pleased about. Staff were always really friendly and did everything you could wish for. Great stay in a lovely hotel and thanks to all previous reviews those resulted in us picking the Appia.
We stayed at The Appia Hotel for 3 nights in June. The Hotel was welcoming on arrival and it stayed that way throughout our stay.We had two rooms next to each other on the ground floor. Ours was a double aspect bedroom overlooking the garden, with a seperate area for eating with fridge sink etc (not that we used it) A lovely bathroom with all amenities. The hotel was immaculate, from the gardens, rooms, entrance and breakfast area. Breakfast was tasty, plentiful and a good variety. Tea & Coffee served to you and buffett style for everything else. The Hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood which suited us to the tee, after a busy day sightseeing it was so nice to come back and chill in the seating area in the garden or have a drink on the patio. The staff were helpful with directions, recommendations and taxis. The whole weekend was very enjoyable.
