Tanglewood Resort and Conference Center3.0 out of 5.0

Tanglewood Resort is more of a hotel with a few pools and 3-star golf course up the street versus a resort. The pools are nice but usually overly crowded and difficult to enter as they don't have the typical beach entrance at the main pool. You can only enter that pool by jumping in or climbing down the ladder. They also allow smoking in the pool area, which I'm not a fan of. They do have security during pool hours so that's nice. The hotel staff that have been there for awhile are extremely friendly and helpful. The new staff hasn't been trained fully so they weren't much help. The spa is in with the fitness center so it's hard to relax as you hear the treadmill going just steps away from the spa rooms. Crystal, the massage therapist, is great, but the outside noise makes it hard to enjoy the treatments. The food at Skooner's was the best thing at Tanglewood. It was moderately priced and offered lots of options. We had the club sandwich and Cobb salad for lunch. The wait staff is friendly as well. They service the bar/grill as well as the pool, so we found at times that the waitress was busy with pool guests when we needed service. Not her fault but it would have been nice if there was one or two more servers to help cover the crowds both inside and out. The hotel rooms were fine. The furniture was old fashioned but it was functional. The bathroom looked to be updated 90% so that was nice. However they didn't have microwaves or mini frigs in the rooms, that's a bummer! This place has potential but it's going to take quite a bit of remodeling for it to get there.
All pictures on the internet are from the 90's. All sub part amenities matched the poor customer service from the employees. Room TV from 90's needs to be trashed... is 'Panasonic still a brand? Prices are exorbitant for the poor accommodation. People.... There Is NO Beach access as they claimed << Unless you know how to Fly. The Beach access is around 5 miles away from Property and is not part of the such called 'Resort'. In actuality is just Mod Flat. We knew we were rip off since we walked into our room. And at that time it was to late to change our reservations to another place. A One time experience. We could get a better room accommodations in a Motel 6. Definitely a miss use of the word' Resort.
Had not been to Tanglewood in a while, but the family needed a quick get away so we headed north. Same great place I remember, but even better. Stayed in the villas which look really nice from recent renovations. Loved the new cabana locations over looking the pool. We sat out there during the day, as well as the evening it is really peaceful and beautiful. Enjoyed dinner in the main dinning. Ciara was our wait person and was very knowledgable about the new menu. The shrimp cocktail was fantastic! I guess the peppercorn steak is a signature dish there and it was perfect. The staff though out our stay were very friendly and helpful. Such an easy drive to escape the metroplex. We plan on coming back this summer.
This was not a relaxing night out. To start off, they gave me the keys to an occupied room. Then the room I was given was one of the noisiest that I can remember staying in. The conventioneers must have played in the hallway half of the night. The way they were yelling at one another also should have caused management to put an end to it. I would suggest staying in the private rooms away from the main building.
We spent a week in a two bedroom villa with full kitchen, laundry, hot tub and a large comfortable living area. It was functional, comfortable and the beds were ver, very sleep conducive. The fitness area is complete with free weights, Nautilus equipment, stationary bikes, treadmills, and ellipticals. Competition for the equipment is not intense so you can get a full workout completed quickly. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only complaints--the ice maker in the refrigerator did not work and the wifi was not very speedy--no streaming of movies which we had hoped to do if the weather kept us off the lake.
I booked on a hotel site (not trip advisor). The site said the hotel was pet friendly. We showed up at the hotel, only to be told we did not book a pet friendly room. Turns out pet friendly rooms are an extra $40 room charge and you don't stay in the main hotel. They have you stay in their villas which are very nice. Overall though, this is a really great older hotel. Breakfast buffet and great dinner in the dining room. You can feel the history in this hotel and it is right off the lake marina. Request a tower room and you will have an incredible view of the lake. Love it!!
We enjoyed our weekend at this clean family resort. The price is a bit steep and the view of the lake isn't all that great. The Villas are a nice place to stay if your staying for a longer period of time. We went on a cold stormy weekend and had a good time. I can't wait to go back during the warmer months and enjoy more of the amenities.
The staff was so helpful. The hotel was very clean. The breakfast was outstanding. We went for my husband's birthday. They had fresh chocolate covered strawberries, wine and a sweet birthday card waiting in our room. We loved the convenience of having the marina so close to launch our boat and the golf course on site. We had a great time and will definitely be back.
Very friendly and helpful staff/team. Very relaxing and beautiful setting. Excellent menu items from restaurants for all meals. I especially enjoyed the angus beef tips. We will be making a return trip to spend more time.
I paid $199 for a lakeview king. The entry to the room is an odd, narrow shape. The view was great and clean. I laughed because the price tag was still on the fake orchid in the bathroom. I showered Sunday morning at 830am and there was no hot water, just barely warm water. So I hurried. Because so many reviewers had gone on about how the hotel surprised them with one thing or another due to a birthday or special event, when the hotel emailed me directly and the email said "tell us about yourself" I did advise that we were there for my husbands birthday but there were no surprises for him when we got in the room. No one ever said there would be. It was a bit of let down just because so many other TA reviewers said there were for them. I doubt we'll stay there again. It's an average hotel that has great views; they overcharge due to the views, location and lack of decent competition. I highly recommend the restaurant Mo's across from the marina. We ate breakfast there. Food and service were great.
