I was disappointed in my stay since it was very pricy and the hotel was not what I expected for what I paid. The property itself has charm, is near a pretty river and the lounge room was nice. I also enjoyed the breakfast and Sue was a lovely waitress. However, a lot of the hotel seemed old and outdated. There was a strong musty odor in our room and opening the windows invited bugs so it was a challenge dealing with that. I hoped to fish on the river but the advertised fishing was unguided and overpriced. It did not feel like a four star hotel and I would recommend it only if the price was adjusted for what is actually offered.

Great dining and staff. Beautiful property.

Property and room were fine. Breakfast was good. Was thinking it would be closer to Porter but worked out okay. They opened the billiards room for us to be able to have a place to play cards.

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel off the beaten path. We loved the architecture and interior design. It felt very warm and cozy with a very comfortable bed and lovely bath facilities. The view was pretty as well. Our breakfast was delicious and service was amazing. The only challenges we experienced were with the door locks (patio door wouldn’t lock with our key) and internet/phone service (there wasn’t any!)

Initially built in 1871 as a hunting lodge, and now a family run boutique hotel provides a warm comfortable homey feeling almost more like a luxurious B&B. Located on the magical Isle of Skye, it is not a far drive from Portree, about 10-15 minutes, and ideally situated to drive and explore the northern Trotternish peninsula on Skye. It has a historical, classic architecture, with wood paneling but is very well-updated and the superior rooms are very comfortable, clean and well accommodated. Only issue was the spotty WiFi and cellular signal, but that is an issue throughout the island (price you pay in going to remote island vacations, but well worth it). The staff was nothing short of spectacular and amazing, particularly John the night manager who went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and also gave us a nice history of the hotel. The first night we got there late, and they kept the restaurant open later to feed us. The following day when we got a flat tire driving through Quaraing, John offered and had some soup and sandwiches waiting for us in the drawing room, particularly helpful since every restaurant on the island was closed! And they also called and helped get our ferry schedule changed. Top notch service made a challenging situation easy to manage and made us feel at home. Thank you for the hospitality! A restaurant on site too with excellent food for dinner, and breakfast in am. We would hope to be able to visit again in the future!

It was so nice to stay in a newly remodeled hotel, especially after staying in nicer yet oldee ones. Beds was very comfortable with high quality bedding. Dinner was delicious. We sat in the atrium which has lovely views and enjoyed an after dinner drink in the lounge. A wonderful stay.

Dear Lisa,Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your stay with us here at Skeabost House Hotel. We are disappointed that you felt the hotel was outdated. We took over the property in 29015 and made major renovations then are have a planned maintenance and review plan ongoing.I will look into the musty smell you had in your room, hopefully a one off as we have not had any other comments about this.I can certainly agree that sue is a ray of sunshine every morning, a great start to the day. We certainly do offer fishing on the river Snizort and to be honest think that 80 for a day permit is great value. This is unguided, however our Ghillie is on hand if you would prefer his services and the fee for this could be added to your room.We are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay and hope the rest of you visit to Scotland went well.RegardsJohn EllisOperations Manager

Many thanks for your kind review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that you enjoyed the privacy to play cards. Portree is a short drive of around 6 miles and as you say not too far to explore tkhe shops etc. Thanks Again John Ellis Duty Manager

Thanks for your kind review. WE are very happy that you enjoyed your stay at Skeabost. We are sorry that you encountered some challenges especially with your patio door, We trust that this was fixed to your satisfaction. Also we understand you frustration with the intermittent WiFi and we are presently looking into improving this over the winter months. As for the mobile phone signal we're afraid that this i out of our hands.
