I can only reiterate what has already been said. Positive: right on the very nice long beach that never gets crowded. Negative: limited breakfast (no vegetables!), slow internet only in lobby (if the bar there had ever been open, one could at least have a beer while you wait for pages to load... ), noisy sprinkler all night, far from center with last shuttle at 6 pm. How it could ever get four stars is a miracle...

booked the hotel via the PortoSanto Line boat booking site - better deal than direct or other sites. Hotel is 10 min taxi ride from centre town of Porto Santo - or a leisurely 45 min walk... Modern hotel, clean roomy apartments with cooking facilities and veranda/balcony. On-site swimming pool,mini-mart & bar - excellent prices (€2.50 a large beer). Food is good as well. excellent value. Very friendly/helpful staff. Wifi only works in the reception area is the only critictism

The hotel is on the sand, not very near the village, it's good if you only want go to the beach or pool. The staff is friendly and they are very helpful, they let us be there till the end of the day on the check out day and take shower on the gym, Maybe it's 4 stars just for the location on the beach otherwise i would give a 3. Wi-fi is really bad (and only have in reception area). there are 2 restaurants arround, and i think a hotel like this could have a restaurant inside for dinners and also much more shutlles to the city center.

if u travel to the paradise island of Madeira spare a few days and combine the stay with a few days holiday in the neighbouring island of porto santo. 2.5 hours with the nice ferry service of lobo marino enjoying beautiful scenery en route will get you to the smaller relaxing island of porto santo. It has one of the most beautiful and dramatic sandy golden beaches of europe and the small capital city vila baleira is interesting with small alleys rich history and charcter. The luamar hotel ia s amazing and greta for a family holiday with many amenities and great rates espcailly out of high season- july-august when the islandf is packedddddd. LUAMAR HOTEL HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.... BEM VINDO A PARAISO DE PORTO SANTO- THE HOLY PORT

I stayed in the hotel for 4 days and of course I did not have a seaview as I had asked for. Bad. The hotel is clean and *cold*, partly renovated, Nothing to do at the place mostly. The apartment is alright with a kitchenette and there is a small shop in the *basement* (hard to find since you had to walk through the laundry) with some groceries and drinks. Bathroom is entirely renovated but it does not prevent the water to disappear too quickly from the tub after a shower/bath and some solutions re the ingoing door to prevent it from smashing the toilet is staggering...And where do you expect AC to be? ...not in the bedroom..... Hotel is right on the beach and the pool is alright. Staff could have been more friendly....but what I experienced the days on the island was poor.

Treat yourself to the sea view, it's was worth paying a bit extra for the fabulous view! The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff were exceptionally helpful. There's a great bar over the road which has a great atmosphere and shows football matches on TV which meant I had a happy hubby.

I came in Porto Santo for 2-3 nights and, after I visited Hotel Porto Santo and Thalasso Vila Baleira (the Pestana "monster" hotels were closed for the season, but anyway I would't go not even for free!), I chose Aparthotel Luamar where I spent 10 nights! The best location and sea view, human size. I stayed there the first half of December. It is right on the 9km white sand beach, 3,6 km from Vila Baleira. Nice 3-storey hotel (most of the rooms are time sharing). Flats equipped with kitchenette, bedroom and living room, balcony, no safe, small old TV (which is not suitable for a 4star hotel), new modern bathroom, with great bathtub. Normally wifi is free and available only in the lobby but it works in some of the flats, ie in mine no 305, as well as by the pool. Bed linen is very nice and soft! The furniture is not stylish but is practical. Breakfast is good enough, coffee is very good. There is a sauna for 5 euros (I did not try), a mini market, a bar by the reception and another by the pool. Simple hotel, the only one on the beach (unlike the 10 storey Thalasso Vila Baleira!). Lunch and diner buffet available. There is a bar restaurant opposite the street and a cash machine on the spot. Hotel offers parking and a free navette to and from town 4 times daily. One can walk on the great beach (to Calheta or Vila Beleira), play with the waves, surf, windsurf, hike or visit the spa center at Vila Baleira hotel at 4 min walk. As I said, I was there off season so it was empty and great to relax. If you make the booking at the same time you buy your ferry ticket, there is a 12% discount for the room. The reception staff is kind but not very much capable to give information. Two things to mention: a) do not take the street view rooms because they give at the parking, unless you do not mind and b) on the balconies, part of the fantastic ocean view is unfortunately hindered by fix 2-fold blinds, what a pity! They say that they are intended to ensure privacy...There are walks and great view points on the island! For me and my taste, a great place to go!

Not a good breakfast. But it compensates with a nice room with good view. The beach is nice and the swimming pool fair. It has a shuttle to go to downtown as the hotel is far from it. Personnel attitude is good.

first of all 5 star evaluation does not mean a 5 star hotel. Don't expect that. A fair aparthotel, with top location literally on the side of the beach, its a great hotel to family holidays with small kids. Some rooms are older than others, breakfast is good enought, but dinner and lunch if you go for all included is not in the same facility. Our way of do it? Get a taxi, go to city center to good supermarket, get food for most of the week and keep some meals to go to the nice restaurants that exist in island. Have fun and play with your kids. There not much more to do.

The rooms were perfect, but our room was faced to the parking lot, and anyone could jump in to our balcony, but overall was good... Good decor, great breakfast, Magnificent location by the Beach, and the pool was perfect.. Perfect hotel to relax, Great Getaway from the city stress
