Excellent location a 5-minute walk from Sao Bento train station on Praça da Liberdade where there are many restaurants and cafes to choose from and hop-on/hop-off bus access. No frills but comfortable. Good sightseeing information at check in. Reception up steep flight of stairs but I noticed that there is a motorized chair on a rail for those unable to manage - I can not state though that it is operational. English spoken.
this is a budget hotel in a fantastic position which offers very good value. It is not suitable for those with mobility problems because there is a steep flight of stairs to clim before reaching the reception but the hotel, despite having been renovated has a charming 1950's atmosphere. Big clean room, good bathroom, good breakfast , good price., only drawback unconfortable bed and pillows
Stayed here while on a language course, and it was ideal, fabulous central location, with whole city within easy walking distance. Just a couple of minutes from the tramline, which goes direct to and from the airport, and further out to beaches etc. Spacious room, which a new walk-in shower, plenty of hot water, beds are basic but of the standard of this type of hotel, room cleaned daily. Breakfast was fine, typical continental breakfast, but plenty on offer. Wifi reception was good. Staff were friendly, spoke excellent English and were very patient in my attempts to practise Portuguese! Only downside is the steep, narrow staircase to go up to the hotel, which may be a problem for some guests.
Certainly in a great spot just a few minutes from all that Porto has to offer, its very simple accommodation is really just about OK for 1 night. Breakfast is very basic and there are no evening meals served.
Right in the heart of the city with great travel connections and 20-25 mins away from the airport via taxi. However, upon arrival you are met with a large staircase (not ideal if you have heavy/several suitcases/bags) - just something to be aware of. The staff are friendly and speak several languages, which is really helpful if you don't know any Portuguese. I stayed in a family room (as a solo traveler) this was a decent size for me, but I can imagine it being a bit of a squeeze for a grown family of 4. I didn't have any food in the place, mainly because you have so many options right outside the hotel. It's also a great location if you book excursions as many tour operators know the place and you can drop right outside. They do have free WIFI - however it is quite weak and sometimes I couldn't even get a connection.
You cannot beat the location. Right in Avenida dos Aliados with easy access anywhere. The staff was very attentive and helpful. We paid something close to nothing, since it was two slow week nights. Breakfast was good, but coffee and orange juice need urgent improvement.
We stayed for two nights with our grandchildren in the summer. We arrived much later than the stated check in time but our room wasn't ready. It was over 40 mins later before it was available and only because I complained. Staff seemed indifferent to the problem which made it even more irritating. The room was ok but a little dated. It was a shame when the location was great for getting around Porto.
This hotel is well located in the centre of Porto on Avenida dos Aliados. It’s very close to, and within walking distance of many of the cities attractions such as the cathedral, Sam Bento railway station, Torre dos Clérigos, ponte Luis 1 and the fashionable eating/drinking area of Ribeira. The hotel is situated on the first floor (second if you think in the American way) and although there is a lift in the building, there is no lift to get you into the hotel, only a flight of stairs. There does however seem to be a chair lift for the mobility impaired. The rooms are comfortable with en suite bathroom, tv and wi-fi in the rooms and to be honest for a 2 star hotel it was both good valued and a pleasant stay. The reception staff were very friendly and took an interest in how my day was etc. You can organise trips through them if you have not alreay pre-arranged anything. There is also a small bar in the hotel in the reception area. You can opt for breakfast which was a simple affair of tea, coffee and watered down orange juice, bread rolls, croissants, ham, cheese, fruit and yogurts.
I booked a room for 2 days. The price was ok 72€ for 2 nights, the hotel was located in the center of the city, near the metro aliados (2 minutes), but the room was not nice. It was clean, but had a smell of humidity and there was mold on the ceiling. The bed had a plastic protection and it was small for 2 persons. I don't reccomend it
The hotel is located very well in the centre of Porto with walking distance to most of the things one would want to see when visiting. Hotel is old, rooms are old, furniture is old, but decent enough for sleeping. Staff are pretty helpful.
