There are a few great things about the hotel, namely - good location, just a 10 minute walk from Sao Bento - good breakfast - incredible view of Porto city from the bar and restaurant on the 17th floor However, our service experience was far from 4-Star. - The service philosophy of the hotel can best be described as intensely indifferent. On arrival we requested them to give us a call in case our room was available earlier than the 2 pm check in. The receptionists response basically was that they have too many guests to be bothered with calling individuals. On check out, once again the receptionist seemed bothered only with any incidental charges. The staff at Dom Henrique simply do not care whether you enjoyed your stay! The only exception is the team in the restaurant and bar, who were extremely polite and cheerful. - No coffee or tea in the room! This left me absolutely baffled! The room comes with an electric kettle, sugar and two herbal tea bags. The hotel simply does not provide guests with sachets of coffee and tea in the room. We were told we would have to purchase coffee from the local store! - the fitness center is quite honestly a joke. One treadmill which is old and rackety with no shock absorbing technology, one cycle, one cross trainer which did not work, a bench and a few weights. All this is stuffed into a room that’s 10 by 8 feet wide. Don’t choose this hotel for its fitness amenities!
Dom Henrique Hotel in Porto has a good central location. Rooms are small and a bit dark. Hotel is clean. Breakfast is served from 7 am. On 17th floor is a lounge/bar/restaurant with a nice view of the town and with expensive cocktails.
Despite the fact we've booked a room with a big double bed, we've received a room with 2 twin beds. The breakfast was bad and the coffee was horrible. I live in Lisbon and I cannot imagine being in Portugal and being offered bad coffee. We did not have slippers in the bathroom and enough towels and the bathroom door was broken. I do not recommend it because it's not fair to pay for a 4-star hotel and to receive services lower than what you've paid.
Hotel is in a great location and is really well presented. Staff are nice and friendly too. Our room was quite large and with a huge comfy bed - I slept so well! Lovely modern bathroom with rainfall shower. We also had a balcony which would be lovely for the summer. Breakfast buffet had plenty of variety - fruit, cakes, cereal, meats, cheese, eggs etc. The rooftop bar and restaurant has fantastic views over the city but we thought it lacked a bit of atmosphere, though that could be the time of year. A short stroll to the river and well connected to the airport via the metro - very easy to find.
Couple, spent 1 night here: + good breakfast + friendly staff + very nice bar, not too expensive on one of the top floors with a nice view over the city + good connection for public transport, but not too far from the center by foot as well (Porto isn't such big) + clean - bed was a bit small for 2 people (i would guess 1.60m broad) Overall worth the rate (which was lower than for comparable hotels, located more central)
The room was comfortable clean met my expectation. The restaurant on the roof top was just incredible. Relaxing atmosphere staff really professional. The view was nice and the food was on of the best I had in Porto. The breakfast could improve. Especially will be nice to provide a rump to access the breakfast area for people in a wheelchair. There is a big step and no one of the staff from the breakfast room provide any support. Could be nice if they offer me help to push my wheelchair on top. The hotel promote a free shuttle service to the airport in the lobby and in their website. We book the airport transfer from the reception, but during our journey to the airport we find out from the driver that we had to pay 25.00 Euro. They have to improve the communication skill with the customer. Making sure the client know the shuttle service is not free of charge.
We came to Porto for our anniversary and this hotel was perfect. The location is close to everything and easy walk .the staff is great and the restaurant is a must to eat dinner at!! The bed was comfy and the bathroom was good and had a nice shower. Would stay here again for sure!!
Good price per value performance. The staff was nice and helpful. We try to change our room, because it was between elevators and it's means it's impossible to sleep at night. But staff was helpful and we changed a room. Rooms are clean, just windows could be larger. The view to all Porto form roof restaurant was great. The Metro is just 3-5 minutes walk.
We booked this hotel for two nights over the new year after a river cruise. It is advertised as four star and was booked through Booking.Com. We also booked the special New Years evening meal which was expensive but very nice. Regarding the hotel we were not happy with it, I had e-mailed to say that we would be early but on arrival in the pouring rain we were very brusquely told that check in was 2pm and come back then. The room we were originally given was next to the lifts and a service door with a noisy vent from the kitchen running up outside. We were able to change the room, still next to two lifts and a service door but after the first night (New Years Eve so late to bed and tired) we did not notice the noise but the second evening we could hear what sounded like someone working with a drill next to us. In fact it was the lift cables which we could hear every time thelift was used. I had also e-mailed beforehand to ask if there were tea/coffee making facilities in the room and received a reply to say that there were tea making facilities and anything else could be brought to the room. What there was were 3 herbal tea bags and sugar, on asking for some milk I was told there was a 4 euro charge, when it arrived it was in a small teapot and hot and there was a service charge!! We did manage to get this removed from the bill though. Breakfast does not start until 7am so if you have a flight before 10ish you do not have time to eat it as it takes about half an hour to get to the airport. When we settled the bill we noticed that we were charged 'Internet rate' and it was admitted that booking over the Internet meant that you were given the rubbish rooms. The hotel is downtown but still a little way out of the centre and you need to be fit as there are a lot of hills in Porto and public transport is a little walk away and the buses do not seem to run very frequently. In short I would look elsewhere to stay.
Very good location (a few minutes walk to Trindade or Bolhao metro station). The room was nice and clean but small for two people with two big suitcases. Very good insulation but with medium quality bed linen. Our room had a small balkony (as we asked for) and it was an advantage. The restaurant bar ih 17th floor offers a great view to the city. The staff was helpful but a little cold i can say. The breakfast had a qood quality but it was poor.
