As read a in other comments I confirm that the staff at the reception desk is quite indifferent. The room: big enough but with only a little side view, a shame when you think the hotel overlooks the city. Bed: very comfortable Breakfast : refilled frequently but no variety as day after day the same, though it's ok, can't say for coffee as I take tea. Restaurante: great view and staff but poor food, not cooked. Do not eat there, better restaurants in town. Location : close to metro station, not easy to find at first. However it's not a convenient location as at last 15 minutes from downtown and Oporto is a hilly city, so be prepared to go up hill when coming back to the hotel. Conclusion: Oporto is worth a visit but Dom Henrique is not worth a stay
We could not fault this hotel. Situated a little distance from the main hub of the city, it was therefore quiet which was a plus. And Trindade station was very close, making getting around very easy. The room was pleasant and reasonably spacious. The bar and restaurant were comfortable and the breakfast generous. We would not hesitate to stay here again.
We loved this modern hotel in Porto! It was a great ending to our European honeymoon! It was close enough for us to walk around and explore. I was also impressed that it was still locally owned. The top floor bar was a great place for us to relax while we waited for our room to be ready as we got there a little early. We loved the little balcony from our room, too. It was nice to have some fresh air in the morning with a beautiful view. Breakfast was also nice! I will say the bed was VERY hard, so if you like that, it's perfect, it was a little hard for my taste, but that is just me!
Our first stay at this hotel...We took a taxi to this hotel from the airport and glad we did as it would be hard to find but in a very good location to get around Porto...This is a very good hotel...Room was acceptable but not sure what a Double Room Superior is like as that is what we paid for and nothing special but acceptable for our 3 night stay..Many good ideas in the room...little packages of kleenex in the room every day was a great thought especially because you need them while out exploring...room and bathroom was acceptable..this hotel was very close to where we had to pick up our car so great...Breakfast was more than ample and although we got our coffee from our machine it was very good to start our day...beds were very comfortable which is what we require when travelling...If we return to Porto I would stay at this hotel again...
For the first time in Porto we stayed in Dom Henrique. A beautiful hotel with not that spacey rooms. Also the reception was not that big. Beds slept Well. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was mediocre. The bar and restaurant on the top floor were fabulous. Nice view. Also dinner was superb however above average Porto restaurant prices. We can recommend Dom Henrique!
We stayed here two nights and loved every minute! Modern decor in the lobby (including retro 70s modern chairs - we all took turns sitting in them and snapping pix). Really cool decor in the bedrooms, with back lighting behind the headboard adding a glow to the wall, and reading lights on flexible stems on the headboard! Great view from the windows (a beautiful blue and white tile covered church and trees beyond). An amazing bar on the 17th floor with a panoramic view of the city. A few minutes walk to almost anything you'd want - a grocery for bottled water, an Equadorian chocolate shop, other miscellaneous shops. Kind and gracious helpful staff...Good hotel in a good location. Comfy bed.
I recently booked this hotel through hotels.com to stay in Porto for a couple of nights with two friends. I managed to find us an excellent price and the hotel said it was 4* so went ahead and booked 3 single rooms for me and my two friends. Booking was easy and confirmation came through quickly. I had read prior to our stay that check in was at 2 but we arrived in the country early so located the hotel to see if they would hold our cases until we could check in so we could go and explore. They did this for us. Hotel on first impressions, nice and clean and well presented, reception area was nice and spacious. Now don’t get me wrong the staff weren’t in polite but seemed to look down at the way me and my friends were dressed on arrival it made me feel a little bit like they thought we shouldn’t be staying there. Rooms said they were single beds but were more like 3 quarter which was a bonus. Very comfy and clean, slept like a baby. Room has everything I needed. Only small gripe in mine was that the toilet was way way to close to the hand basin, I’m small (women’s size 8) and there was little room to sit down on the toilet. My room had a good little balcony with a view. Hotel roof bar, again great view, however ridiculously over priced and again staff seemed a bit like they thought we shouldn’t be there. Overall not a bad hotel but not very welcoming.
Location not too bad, about 20 mins walk in to the centre of Porto but excellent for catching the metro from Trindade to the airport. The rooms are spacious and very clean and the breakfast was fresh and plentiful, very polite staff. The views from the bar are great, definitely worth a visit.
The Dom Henrique Hotel in Porto is in a fine location, just a 5-10 minute walk from the downtown area. The neighborhood is more residential with apartment buildings and therefore quiet. It boasts 16 floors of rather spacious rooms that are clean and comfortable. Our room sported a king sized bed. The seventeenth and eighteenth floors house a lounge and restaurant with panoramic views of the city and a must see if staying in this hotel. Restaurant prices are modest and there are selections to meet nearly any palate. The location together with taxi, transit service and accommodations would bring this TripAdvisor reviewer back to this hotel upon return to Porto.
There are a few great things about the hotel, namely - good location, just a 10 minute walk from Sao Bento - good breakfast - incredible view of Porto city from the bar and restaurant on the 17th floor However, our service experience was far from 4-Star. - The service philosophy of the hotel can best be described as intensely indifferent. On arrival we requested them to give us a call in case our room was available earlier than the 2 pm check in. The receptionists response basically was that they have too many guests to be bothered with calling individuals. On check out, once again the receptionist seemed bothered only with any incidental charges. The staff at Dom Henrique simply do not care whether you enjoyed your stay! The only exception is the team in the restaurant and bar, who were extremely polite and cheerful. - No coffee or tea in the room! This left me absolutely baffled! The room comes with an electric kettle, sugar and two herbal tea bags. The hotel simply does not provide guests with sachets of coffee and tea in the room. We were told we would have to purchase coffee from the local store! - the fitness center is quite honestly a joke. One treadmill which is old and rackety with no shock absorbing technology, one cycle, one cross trainer which did not work, a bench and a few weights. All this is stuffed into a room that’s 10 by 8 feet wide. Don’t choose this hotel for its fitness amenities!
