Both the Hotel & Location are definitely not the most romantic of places and not at all close to the most popular tourist areas downtown such as Cais da Ribeira or the Port Wine spots however. Room spotless, Beds Great, plenty space to move around and value for money. If you enjoy walking then why pay a fortune to stay downtown? Rotunda da Boavista, the famous Casa da Musica and Mercado Bom Sucesso (taste how the local enjoy their Tapas nowadays) are right next to the Hotel. Easy walk to the local Vegan Restaurant, Sinagoga Kadooric and Palacio de Crystal/ Museu Romantico. From here I definitely suggest you walk out of the Palacio Cristal front doors (hang an immediate right) straight down to the riverside. On the way Stop for a refreshment (beautiful views) and as soon as you hit the river (turn left) and walk along rua nova de alfândega enjoying all the restaurants, museums, buildings until you reenter downtown from the west your reference point is the Igreja de São Francisco (crazy decor). From here worth walking in and out of ALL the little streets including the ones that hug the River. So all in all cool place.
Staff were very friendly, especially reception and bar staff. Bed was the biggest I've ever experienced, room was comfortable, no frills but didn't feel like we were missing anything. Breakfast was large but it got busy at times and they did run out of things very quickly that were not replaced as quickly.... Like spoons!!! Taxis were so cheap that we used those the whole trip, about €6/7 to the beach and about €6 to go right downtown. 10 min walk to the metro for a very handy and cheap airport transfer. Lovely hotel, a little pricey for what it is but no complaints.
Shared a double room with a friend over a weekend. Very spacious, modern and tidy. The air conditioner wasn't working properly, but was okay to leave the window open. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Very accommodating and gave good recommendations on places to visit and eat. The hotel bar was also very comfortable for a lazy night in. Good location to shops and some restaurants. Also a short ride into town by taxi. Will definitely stay there again for a short break.
Near the Boavista Rotunda and the Casa da Musica as well as a 10 min. walk from the metro. The Bom Sucesso Food Court is very close by offering a variety of inexpensive meals, including fresh seafood. Good size rooms, free wifi and modern bathrooms including toiletries. If you don't need to be right in the downtown center where hotels are more expensive then this is a very good choice. Didin't have breakfast included (there´s a café right across the street). Nice patio where it would be very pleasant to sit out in good weather.
We could not fly to Porto due to Union strikes in Berlin. All other flights were fully booked so in the end the airline had to give us the money back and we cancelled our trip to porto. All hotels that we had booked were very understanding and either gave us a gift voucher to redeem at a later time or the money back. EXEPT THE HF TUELA! They don't care for their customers, even my email stayed unresponded... if you think any unexpected event could happen to you while travelling to Porto (and it always can) do NOT BOOK this hotel. You can not expect any customer orientation from them or understanding for a situation you did not cause. We are very very disappointed and will never book any hotel of this hotel chain again! Be happy with our money HF TUELA!
Stayed here with family of four. Location was great. Nice breakfast buffet available, if you want. Shopping and great restaurants nearby. Near hop on/off bus which we did for first time. Hotel room was a little warm for us...a/c was probably off in Feb. - we never inquired just cracked the window. Room was clean. Comfortable bed. Small fridge in room was nice.
Stayed here for a week on our first visit to Porto. Only 10 minutes walk to a metro station and a zone 2 Andante card is adequate and buses go past the door. Very comfortable room, enormous bed, modern bathroom and free Wi fi. all very clean. Good breakfast buffet, lots of choice. No traffic or othe noise in our room which faced the rear. Only a few yards from food court where there was a great choice of inexpensive meals if you didn't want to go downtown in the evening. Highly recommended if you just want a comfotable place to stay and dont need spa's. pools or hot and cold running flunkies
Nice and modern hotel. Long walk to downtown; preferable to take a taxi. Includes free Wireless Internet and a very good breakfast buffet. Indoor parking for a fee. The hotel is equiped with all amenities you can expect from a modern hotel. Porti is a very nice andgorgeous city.
Near to the center is perfect for holidays or business. Confortable room and bathroom, silence and with all confort. Nice bar at the hall, very good breakfast in the morning. Wi-Fi also good. All perfetc.
The hotel has an excellent location near Mercado do Bom Sucesso, several stores and restaurants. The rooms are modern and spacious!! the breakfast is good with different types of bread and cakes, fruit and expresso coffee. the only thing i didn't like was the music being too loud at that time of the morning (10 am). Parking is free outside the hotel between 8 pm and 8 am. I recommend this hotel because it has a good value for money.
