Stayed here with family of four. Location was great. Nice breakfast buffet available, if you want. Shopping and great restaurants nearby. Near hop on/off bus which we did for first time. Hotel room was a little warm for us...a/c was probably off in Feb. - we never inquired just cracked the window. Room was clean. Comfortable bed. Small fridge in room was nice.
Stayed here for a week on our first visit to Porto. Only 10 minutes walk to a metro station and a zone 2 Andante card is adequate and buses go past the door. Very comfortable room, enormous bed, modern bathroom and free Wi fi. all very clean. Good breakfast buffet, lots of choice. No traffic or othe noise in our room which faced the rear. Only a few yards from food court where there was a great choice of inexpensive meals if you didn't want to go downtown in the evening. Highly recommended if you just want a comfotable place to stay and dont need spa's. pools or hot and cold running flunkies
Nice and modern hotel. Long walk to downtown; preferable to take a taxi. Includes free Wireless Internet and a very good breakfast buffet. Indoor parking for a fee. The hotel is equiped with all amenities you can expect from a modern hotel. Porti is a very nice andgorgeous city.
Near to the center is perfect for holidays or business. Confortable room and bathroom, silence and with all confort. Nice bar at the hall, very good breakfast in the morning. Wi-Fi also good. All perfetc.
The hotel has an excellent location near Mercado do Bom Sucesso, several stores and restaurants. The rooms are modern and spacious!! the breakfast is good with different types of bread and cakes, fruit and expresso coffee. the only thing i didn't like was the music being too loud at that time of the morning (10 am). Parking is free outside the hotel between 8 pm and 8 am. I recommend this hotel because it has a good value for money.
We would have liked to rate this hotel better but when more than €700 went missing from our room, the experience turned to be not so good. We stayed there for 3 nights and the money was taken from a pouch inside my bag during the day before last. The hotel felt very safe and we unfortunately didn't use the safe provided (we wish we did). I felt that the manager has not dealt with this issue appropriately as she wanted to disengage the hotel from any responsibility (she used the word Neutral), even though the only person entering our room that day was the cleaner (according to their electronic records). The only thing she did is calling the police who arrived after we left the hotel to Lisbon, but she suggested to file a complaint with the tourist police, which we did. Now, it seems like an impossibility of getting the money back. But we don't want this experience to be happening again with other customers so we strongly advice against using this hotel or at least if you end up booking there, put all your valuable stuff in the safe!
We stayed at the “Ala Sul” (South Wing), the “low cost” version of the hotel. First of all, the main entrance for the "Ala Sul" is usually closed, so you enter the hotel through the same way guests staying at the main wing do (at least, that's what we did during our stay). The “Ala Sul” is very basic. The room were we stayed in was small but nice and, most importantly, clean. It has a flat TV, a hard but comfortable king size bed and free Wi-Fi. Even though our room was facing the main street it was really quiet at night (and we stayed there for 5 nights). It also has blackout curtains so that the light from the lamps outside don't disturb your rest and air conditioning (if you happen to hear an annoying humming in your room its most likely the old A/C unit working at its full capacity. Reduce the potency and the noisy will stop). The bathroom was really small. The sink, toilet and shower were very close from each other. Overall, the room was alright for our needs although I wouldn't recommend it to big built people or someone who has lots of baggage. Its well located. You have the bus station 2 minutes walk from the hotel. The taxis are near the hotel on the other side of the road. The subway station is about 10 minutes walk, near Casa da Musica. You also have supermarkets, shops and restaurants nearby.
This hotel might deserve more than 3 stars. It has a good location. In the morning you can find a rich breakfast. the parking costs but between 8pm and 8am you can park on the street in front of the hotel for free.
From outside hotel it is not beautiful, but inside everything looks new and clean. Receptionist was very kind and spoke good english. Room was clean and spacious, bathroom was perfect. One thing missing.. it is fridge. And one disadvantage is parking. Parking is horor, be very careful to your car. Breakfast was perfect, a lot of food and drink. Everyone find something good. I recommend this hotel :-)
The rooms, lobby breakfast area, bar are all clean, and have a luxurious feel to them. The rooms are bathrooms are of a great spacious size. However the breakfast is disappointing comparing to other HF hotels. Although the choices are more limited than other HF hotels, the quality is the same. Because the Ala Sul Tuela shares the lobby with this hotel, the problem is the same. The lobby has an insane amount of perfume in the air which will bother people who are slightly sensitive to such strong smells. The Baby crib they provided was excellently supplied. However no fridges in the room and check that all the screws are tight. Service varies DRAMATICALLY by who you get. Most of the time it was snobby with attitude that "im better than you". Other times it was quite professional.
