Nice guesthouse within easy walking distance of transport and also 10/15 minutes walk from the centre and main amenities. Rooms are contemporary and clean. Staff are great, attentive and more than happy to advise re attractions etc. Good choice of breakfast options provides an ideal start to the day
The staff was wonderful, they gave a room that was just renovated but it didnt have an air conditioner holy cow!!!! so they switched us to another room that had great air but was super small and had a full bed for 2 , we are used to a king. The location was ok but quite a walk to the center of town.
The staff is very helpful and friendly. The room was quiet. We didn't mind the church bells. The Wi-fi was very very slow. The room was very small. We had a medium size suitcase and a carry on. Had a hard time finding space in the room to set both pieces. The bathroom was so tiny it was uncomfortable. Had no water pressure in the hand held shower. The sink was the smallest I had ever used. The area was so small that our soap kept falling to the floor. No area to put any toiletries. We had an entire morning in the room the day we left. It was pouring and we did laundry at a close by place. It was hard and uncomfortable to spend all that time in the room. It was a good 20-30 minutes walking distance from the main amenities. Metro close by.
My friend and I, stayed here for three nights and loved it. We had a bed and breakfast deal. We arrived quite late so took a taxi from the airport it cost 25 euros. Check-in was brisk and we were given a key to our room. You have to remember that this is a guest house, so there are no extras such as lap top friendly safe, tea/coffee facilities, mini bar, fridge and bath robes. That said, i didn't miss any of these. if you are looking for clean comfortable accommodation, with good air con (yes my menopausal sisters, it was good), shower with large rainfall shower head, hairdryer, TV, free wifi and at a reasonable price, then this is the place for you. There are ample power points Whilst the rooms themselves are not huge, the room we were allocated was a twin bedded room on the second floor with views over the city. The room was cleaned daily and towels replenished. The usual toiletries were provided. Bring your own shower cap and face cloths as neither are provided. There are several restaurants and coffee bars nearby. We didn't eat at any of these places but they looked ok and perfectly reasonable. We returned to the Airport via the metro. Which is left out the front door and first right at the traffic lights. five minutes walk. Journey time 35 minutes to the airport. cost 3 euros. Select zone 4 on ticket machine menu. Breakfast was served from 7.30 until 10.30am. We had an early start on our final day and asked whether breakfast could be served early. They accommodated our early breakfast request, which was really nice. Breakfast was continental style with different types of breads, cheese, cold meat, fruits, fruit salad, cereals, yoghurts, which set us up for the day. Whilst it is usual for me to stay in four and five star hotels, I would definitely return to this budget establishment. The staff were friendly, accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. It was a really good place for a short break.
This was our first visit to porto but it won’t be our last. Our room was very clean and well decorated and the bathroom was really clean. The bed was comfortable. It is easy to get to from the airport on the metro and only a few minutes walk from the station. The centre of Porto is only a 10 min walk. Lots of really nice places to eat within walking distance. The restaurant next door is well worth a visit, very cheap and really good food. Loved Porto.
Mother and daughter stayed here for three nights and loved the location and the house. The location is very quiet and away from the crowds but a short walk (or metro) away from the river and all the sights of Porto. The room was very bright and clean, beds comfy, and the breakfast was good. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. This is the type of place I love to find in Europe and highly recommend it!
We stayed in this hotel for a week and loved it. It's very clean and quiet. We had a room with nice city view. The hotel is not close to the river but within a walking distance, approx. 20 mins walk or 4 EUR by Uber. Metro station Carolina Michaelis is about 150 metres from the hotel. We arrived in the middle of the night as the plane was delayed but the lady in the reception quickly checked us in and explained everything. Breakfast was not included in our room and it cost additionally 7 EUR. There are also other breakfast options in nearby cafes. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Vitor who booked a Douro tour for us. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would recommend it.
If you think of what you need for a hotel in a city, Boavista has it. We rented a car and although street parking is expensive, we were quickly told of the garage just up the road which can house your vehicle for 8 Euros a day, the hotel has a key and a good arrangement - car sorted! The room was lovely - clean, modern, TV, WiFi, comfy bed, great air conditioning, fantastic shower and brilliantly located right opposite the terrace (a real boon for us smokey sinners!). It was snug, but fitted us, a large suitcase, two smaller ones and all the usual stuff one acquires. It also had loads of power points, another bonus. No tea or coffee facilities, but the 24hr reception service would make you one if you really needed it. Close by were some lovely restaurants. We were recommended to Michaels 2 just down the hill, and to Universal close by it which were both Portuguese cuisine and very popular with local folk - we could see why. For 3 courses, wine, coffee and drinks for 2 people - 28 Euros! There's a bar next door which was good enough to give me a carrier bag of ice with my two takeaway soft drinks; a Mini Preco supermarket about 100yds away (which does astounding grapes) and even a pharmacy just up the road a bit. It's not in the super touristy area of the city but getting to most places by Uber was less than 4 Euros. Breakfast was expansive and very comfortable and everyone was just so nice and friendly for the whole of our 4 night stay. One thing to watch, especially if you have children: the road it's on gets very busy in rush hours and the concept of a speed limit is lost on many drivers, so be careful. All in all, a fantastic place which I heartily recommend. We hope to return in the not too distant future.
Cosy guesthouse with tastefully decorated room, a bit small but adequate with a tv, modern new furniture and bathroom. Our room was super clean and cleaned daily, the bed was comfortable and there was a window with view to the street. The staff was very polite and helpful, they answered all our questions, made good suggestions and helped us with everything we needed and made us feel more than welcome. The location is very convenient near a metro station and a 15 minute walk to the city center with mini market coffee shops and nice restaurants nearby. It is a nice quiet neighbourhood. Wi-fi signal was not so strong at times but we managed. It has a lovely terrace for breakfast in the summer but we did not try it as the breakfast area was under renovation. We had a lovely time in Porto and will definitely stay in Boavista Guesthouse next time too.
Friendly, English-speaking and efficient reception; nice breakfast; well-equipped rooms; fine location. The only minus I would add is probably the poor isolation between rooms but this was not a major problem during my stay. Just make sure you have ear plugs with you.
