AC Hotel Porto by Marriott

I had this trip sorted on until I discovered from another review (thanks chaps !) that I could get a better deal by joining the Marriott Rewards Scheme and also get free wifi and breakfast thrown in (if using Visa to pay). Although not in the most salubrious district it is practically next door to The Estadio Do Dragao , which proved invaluable travelling with a young child. The city is a quick 15 minute Metro trip away ( tip - get a 24hr ticket -great value) as is the Airport (25 mins). There is shopping centre and a huge Continente Supermarket next door - so stocking upon the usual minibar staples was easy. The hotel itself is geared toward business and coach group travel but we found the staff were helpful and kind. The room itself could have done with a refurb but was clean and practical and at around 60 euros a night for B&B I can't complain !! Breakfast is excellent . The quality of the pastries and breads is awesome , the cheeses and meats on offer are great but the cooked goods ( Scrambled eggs and bacon ) were a bit tired.. Room service is particularly good - Bacalau dishes were a delightful modern take on the traditional - also served with good grace and a smile. I look forward to my next stay - my son is practically sobbing about checking out !

The AC Hotel at Estadio Drago Porto is modern, well designed and everything runs efficiently. It is 5 mins walk from the metro and right beside a high class shopping mall , which has a food court and cinemas . There is a supermarket in the basement of the shopping centre. Breakfast included fresh fruit , cereals and hot breakfast option and a range of pastries including the famous Pastel de Nata. Our room on 9th floor had great views over the town . Everything was scrupulously clean and well maintained. Our bathroom was always well stocked with fluffy white towels and a great power shower. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. We had a really great stay . Thank you.

Excellent hotel. Comfortable, modern and clean. Good breakfast, pleasant staff. Walking distance from the metro to the city center. Easily accessible by car from the airport. The road seems to be new so our GPS did not know it but the hotel is quite visible.

Average and not befitting a Marriott brand. Staff were brilliant, however. Stayed December for Porto v Leicester City Champions League game. Only stay if you are visiting the football stadium. There also appeared to be a lot of businessmen staying. Positives: Quick and helpful check in, allowing choice of room. Excellent staff, particularly in the bar/restaurant. Happy, caring people, great service. Great bar, bar food and restaurant with free WiFi. Steps away from stadium, ideal for a game. 3 minute walk. TVs in bar showing the match, good for those without tickets. Next to a large shopping centre for shops, bar and food court. Close to Metro Station, 5 minute walk. Negatives: No in room safe. Minimalistic room, no real comfort, cold unwelcoming feel. Wallpaper peeling in our room and our friend’s room. In room WiFi at additional charge, despite being free in the bar. There is nothing around here worth staying for except stadium. A dull hotel inside and out (except bar area). Dull hotel in an unattractive area but with great staff and ideal for the football stadium.

The gym is quite big, with three cardio machines (treadmill, cross-trainer and cycle-no spinning). Also dumbbells. The staff opened it for me at 6:30 in the morning (official opening hours from 7:00 to 22:00), so appreciative. Also a sauna in the gym (which I did not use). Other facilities are very convenient.

We arrived October 21 after a long flight and train ride. This hotel is on outskirts of city so you must taxi in for everything. It was a fine place to stay. Staff was helpful when asked. It was near the stadium if that is import for you

We recently stayed here and, in general were quite pleased. We arrived early and the room was not yet ready so they called the cleaning staff and asked them to make that room a priority. We were then seated in the lounge and were called after a very short time to let us know that the room was now ready. The receptionist provided us with the WI-Fi id and password but told us that this was not available in the room itself. He said that within the room we would have to use our Marriott Rewards id -- when I told him that I had not been at a Marriott for several years, he checked online and told me that my id was expired. However, he promptly assigned me a new one and provided the id and password to go with it. This was much appreciated, as neither my wife nor I wanted to have to come down to the lobby or the restaurant everytime we need WiFi. The room itself was relatively large, very clean and included a coffee/tea maker with a good selection of coffees and teas. There was also a mini-fridge with a selection of drinks and a price card. Surprisingly, the drinks from the fridge were VERY reasonably priced (most hotels charge a premium price for anything in the room fridge!). The hotel does provide a buffer breakfast with an extensive selection of hot and cold menu items, including a wide variety of pastries, fruits, cold cuts, bread, and so on. The only drawback is that it is somewhat expensive at 11 euros per person. We had a problem with the shower one morning and reported it to the front desk and they had it fixed later that day (I don't know how quickly it was done, as we were out on tours most of the day). They were also very helpful with taxis and with providing assistance about things to do and see in Porto. As noted in my title, this hotel is somewhat out of the way and not within walking distance of any of the attractions in downtown Porto. Taxis to various attractions, however, were relatively inexpensive, usually less than 10 euros. There is a huge mall within a 5 minute walk, however, so shopping and dining choices were readily accessible (and the mall was open until 11:00 p.m. each night). The hotel includes a restaurant and bar, and a small but well-equipped fitness room.

The stuff is helpful. Correct room and hotel. The metro station is 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The center (Sao Bento station) is approximately 15 minutes by metro. The breakfast was more 3 stars than 4.

Excellent value for the money. Location for us was convenient using Metro than driving. Room was nice, clean and specious. There is not food on Sunday, restaurant is closed. Breakfast food, it's a buffet, it's not worth the money. and there is not menu available for the breakfast. If, you can live with this, we recommend the hotel.

I recently stayed at AC Porto, and I am super satisfied with my stay. The hotel is modern and rooms are clean and stilysh. Breakfast was adequate and the service of the bar was perfect to have a light dinner during the night. Although the hotel is not located in city center of the Porto, it provides a great value to all their guests, since the price ttends to be much cheaper. It has a tube station next to the hotel, and you can be on the city center in less than 5 minutes. I would ceirtanly be back at this hotel whenver I visit Porto again.
