We were really disappointed. This was our anniversary holiday, and once we checked in and got upstairs, the photos looked nothing like what we had seen on the website. Everything was plain and white and every wall and piece of furniture was extremely scuffed and dirty. I think that a colourful painting or some plants would've made the place feel homely. Our plates, cutlery and pans were greasy and not even washed properly. There was no shower screen for the shower and water would get everywhere, absolutely soaking the tiles. We were only given 1 towel each for our entire 5 day stay and we had to use them by the second or third day to soak up the water on the tiles. We had to also pay extra for more towels. I thought this was extremely silly. I felt really disappointed in my stay and I don't think I would book here again unfortunately.

It was a wonderful stay in your apartment. We were looking for a quick getaway for one night as a present for a university graduation. We enjoyed the split level rooms as it faces us plenty of room and a wonderful view.

Another great stay at Oaks Lure, great staff, great rooms, great location. What more could you ask for? We didn't have the greatest weather but still made the most of it. Thanks Oaks for another perfect stay.

While it is in a great location, close to main centre. Our unit was dirty, toast crumbs on the kitchen counter, grease all through kitchen and even a dirty towel still hanging in the bathroom. Would not stay again.

The location is great as it's an easy walk to everything, and the reception staff were nice enough. And that's all the nice things I have to say. Our 2 bedroom apartment was not ready for the 2pm check in and we had to wait about half an hour, which we understood as I'm sure the Sunday of the long weekend is a busy time. When we did get to our room though the beds were configured wrong so we had to wait for those to be fixed too. Once we started to bring all our stuff in from the car we saw how dirty the whole apartment was.The carpets hadn't been vacuumed, there were crumbs all over the sofa, all of the horizontal surfaces were dusty, the kitchen was dirty and worst of all both bathrooms were filthy!! In particular both of the toilets that had pubic hair on the toilet seats and faeces in the bowls, it was disgusting!!! Because I couldn't be bothered arguing and waiting longer for this be rectified, I went to Woolworths and bought a whole bunch of cleaning stuff and cleaned the whole apartment myself, what a great start to my long weekend! A couple of days after we got home I emailed Oaks Lure to tell them about our experience, 2 weeks later I still haven't heard a thing. I will not be going back to this place and will make sure to tell everyone not to go either.

Where do I begin...extremely disappointed to say the least. First impression, nice, then we saw the large clump of hair stuck on the shower wall and then saw the empty shampoo bottle, not a great start. But, things happen, so ok, we buy shampoo all good. My husband kindly asks reception to fix the unclean shower and is told that they will contact house keeping because it is unacceptable. Two days later, after we realise the air conditioner is leaking water (and I mean pouring) and the light in the bedroom flashes on and off with a crackling sound, and we are still waiting for the hair to be removed from the shower, we decided to cut short our trip. On top of that, they do not provide milk with their tea and coffee. Four stars, in the words of Darryl Kerrigan, "tell them they're dreaming"

Recent 3 night stay. Requested a quiet room away from stairs & lifts- was right next to both. Bed was extremely hard & uncomfortable. One 'extra' pillow only in cupboard. TV on low line unit next to bed - could not watch from the bed (esp without extra pillows to prop up with). Other option to watch TV was from 2 small uncomfortable chairs. Overall room was fairly clean, shower hadn't been cleaned well - mould present that could be wiped away. It had been identified that there was no servicing of the room during our stay so trying to dry the one towel provided each was difficult.

we recently spent 3 nights at this complex , we had a 2story apartment with 2 beds the room was quiet spacious and would be great for groups traveling together as you have a 2nd bathroom , tv and mini fridge location was good easy walk to enjoy the shops and the marina, our son loved the pool ,staff friendly that said its looking a little tired and needs a REALLY good clean carpets where stained and grotty and the walls where quiet dirty especially going up the stairs however sheets where clean and towels super fluffy :) a good clean and it a nice little hotel.. oh also as others have said NO milk supplied

We recently booked a 3 night stay at this hotel for 2 adults and 2 children. Part of their terms and conditions is a 2pm checkin which is standard. We arrived 10 minutes before 2pm and was told our room was not ready, which we accepted as we were 10 minutes early. The receptionist told us it would be ready in 10 minutes, we then went back at 2pm and was again told our room was not ready because the night prior their hotel was fully booked out. My understanding is that even though all rooms are booked out as a hotel they would have the capacity to maintain and meet your own terms and conditions however we were told to go away and they would call us when the room was ready. My wife questioned the receptionist what compensation we would receive for a late checkin and she was told to come back and discuss when other guests "weren't around". So we obligingly waited a half hour before going back to see if the room was ready, at which it still was not. So, again my wife questioned another receptionist on when it would be ready and came to an agreement that we would get a late check out for the same duration it took to get in. We eventually got in after 45 minutes to our 2 bedroom apartment. The downstairs bathroom had not been cleaned and had urine on the toilet seat and it stunk, as we were here for only 3 nights and the receptionist was already rude to us we decided to make do with one bathroom. Every picture in the unit was crooked, the kitchenette was filthy, no plates, cutlery or glasses were clean so we resorted to buying disposable kitchenware. The staircase was sticky and filthy. The lounge and carpets were so dirty and uncleaned as our 15 month old baby's hands legs and feet turned black from crawling around. The rooms were not serviced in the three days and no cleaning staff knocked and offered us fresh bath towels or bath mats. The walls need a fresh coat of paint. The best feature of this hotel was the secure parking closely followed by the kids pool. We didn't need to stay for the extra hour of checkout. We were happy to leave early and head on out. Nelson Bay is a beautiful destination, but I would recommend staying anywhere but here.

Stayed there many times. Good and spacious accommodation, good size pool and BBQ, close to everything you need. Clean, but there is room for improvement here. Walk to CBD, harbour and main beach. Being on a major road, some rooms may get a bit noisy, though. The garage isn't that great. It's full of aircon outdoor units which make it very hot, noisy and uncomfortable. May be better to leave your car on the street. If you book for 4 you will get two level accommodation with kitchen/dining/lounge, one bedroom, bathroom and balcony on one level and another bedroom and bathroom on another. Very convenient. Look for room with bay view.
