Casa de Ponte, a Home in Madeira
Ponte Cottage was originally a modest house built in the 18th century, rebuilt in the 20th century in the current configuration, where it operated a milk collection point for local producers. One of the most imposing houses on the site, it was acquired by José de Ponte and Maria, who emigrated, leaving on the island the only daughter who would continue the legacy of honour. The house has been in the family for three generations and for many more will last.
This house with history is ideal for families and groups of up to five people.
The terrace and garden are spacious, sunny and have a wide view to the ocean and agricultural land.
The house is 100 m2 and comprises three bedrooms, living room, dining room, reading room, kitchen, two bathrooms, as well as terrace and garden with sea view, barbecue and private parking.
The house is equipped with a fridge, washing machine, stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker and other utensils, as well as bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi, TV with international and children’s channels, and other amenities to provide a pleasant and relaxed stay.
LOCATION
The house is in a rural area at 366 m from sea level and at 2,4 km from the village of Ponta do Sol, where there is a beach and some restaurants and cafes.
Ponta do Sol is located in the southwestern part of the island, which has the best weather conditions in Madeira.
A few kilometres away there are stunning cliffs, mountains and Laurissilva forest for nature lovers and hikers.
The house has access to the main roads, but some roads are steep and narrow.
REMARKS
From January to April 2025, work will take place on the road next to the house, which will affect access to parking at the house and may cause noise.
A car is recommended to this location. Free car park is available in the house or on the street.
As some roads in Madeira are steep and narrow, smaller vehicles with powerful engines are recommended.
Cleaning is done before guests check in and then there is a weekly maintenance cleaning, which includes the change of bed linen and towels.
As this is a rural area, there is potential for noise from dogs and other domestic animals on neighbouring properties.
Due to the climate, there are also insects and lizards in the rural surroundings, which may be attracted to food scraps. For those who are uncomfortable with the presence of insects and lizards, we do not recommend staying in a rural area.
The increase in the number of guests implies a price increase of up to 10% per person.
CONDITIONS
1. Parties or behaviour that disturb the peace and well-being of neighbours are not allowed, especially between 10 pm and 8 am when neighbourhood noise is prohibited.
2. An online check-in form will be sent to collect essential identification data for check-in, arrival time and means of transport, which must be submitted by guests at least two days before arrival.
3. Self-check-in with flexible arrival time is available via a key lockbox whose code is created and sent on the day of arrival. For face-to-face check-in, it is necessary to schedule the time and the waiting time is 60 minutes, after which a new time can be scheduled according to our availability.
4. Guests may be required to present identification upon arrival and provide missing identification details to comply with legal requirements.
5. Any malfunctions, incidents or faults in the initial cleaning must be reported as soon as they are detected so that they can be checked and addressed in a timely manner during the stay. Issues reported late for the sole purpose of obtaining a refund will not be considered.
6. Guests must inform about allergies, conditions or special needs before or immediately after booking in order to verify compliance and appropriate measures to be taken.

Une merveilleuse maison pour découvrir Madeire
C'est une belle maison, agréable, fonctionnelle, et très spacieuse. Nous avons passé 3 belles semaines en famille. Les hôtes sont très prévenants, toujours prêts à aider. La localisation est idéale: on est à proximité de la station balnéaire de Ponta Do Sol, à 30 min de Funchal en voiture et des premières belles randonnées. Bref, nous recommandons !

Urlaub mit Einschränkungen
Im Großen und Ganzen war der Urlaub gut, jedoch mit ein paar Unannehmlichkeiten. Die Lage mit dem Blick auf das Meer ist schön, man muss jedoch die steilen Straßen mögen. Wie in der Beschreibung ist es ländlich und Hundegebell sowie Insekten aller Art normal. Das Haus ist in die Jahre gekommen und einiges könnte verbessert werden. Das Aussenmobiliar war nicht ausreichend vorhanden und in einen schlechten Zustand. Auf unsere Beanstandung ist man sofort eingegangen und es wurde in der 2. Woche teilweise erneuert.
Preis-Leistung stimmte für uns nicht ganz, wir würden es nicht noch einmal buchen.

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt
Mein Mann und ich haben drei wunderbare Wochen in der Casa de Ponte verbracht. Das Haus ist sehr sauber, liegt ruhig und ist gut ausgestattet. Man findet Gewürze, Essig und Öl, Küchenrolle, Spüli, Seife, Waschmittel und noch einiges mehr. Bettwäsche und Handtücher werden wöchentlich gewechselt. Zur Begrüßung stand ein gut gefüllter Obstkorb in der Küche. Auf der oberen Terrasse gibt es Liegen, Tisch, Stühle und einen Sonnenschirm. Dort haben wir fast jeden Abend gegessen und den Sonnenuntergang genossen. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit! Wir kommen im nächsten Jahr wieder.

Herrlicher Ausblick auf Meer und Plantagen
Wir (Familie aus Berlin, 2 Erwachsene, 2 fast erwachsene Kinder) hatten Ende Juni 10 wunderbare Tage in der Casa de Ponte in Canhas, oberhalb von Ponta do Sol. Der Standort ist idealer Ausgangspunkt für viele Touren (Mietwagen sinnvoll): Südküste und Hochebene (Paul da Serra), aber auch zur Nordküste. In unmittelbarer Nähe ist die Levadawanderung im Tal der Ribeira da Ponta do Sol sehr zu empfehlen. Das anspruchsvoll restaurierte Landhaus bietet auf rd. 350 m Höhe einen herrlichen Rundblick über die umliegenden Bananenplantagen zum Atlantik. Die auf 2 Etagen angeordneten Räume sind gut geschnitten und mit schönen alten Möbeln geschmackvoll eingerichtet. An der Ausstattung gab es nichts auszusetzen. Das Haus ist gut belüftbar, was im feuchtwarmen Klima der Region von Vorteil ist. Im unteren Geschoss liegen 2 Wohnräume und die geräumige Küche, jeweils mit direktem Ausgang zum kleinen Garten (mit altem Drachenbaum, Palme und Weinreben). Ein zweiter, erhöhter Balkon ist vom Obergeschoss (mit Eingang, Bad und Schlafräumen) aus erreichbar. Hier haben wir uns abends gerne von den Tagestouren erholt. Sehr gutes Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Sehr freundliche und zuvorkommende Vermieter. Hinweis: Für das Auto haben wir einen Parkplatz an einer nahegelegen Schule genutzt. Die Einfahrt auf das Grundstück war uns doch zu „sportlich“. Überhaupt würden wir für Madeira generell Kleinwagen empfehlen, da es manchmal etwas eng zugeht.
