I rate the staff 5 stars. The chef-Omar, housekeeper-Darline, and groundskeepers-Francisco & Julio were awesome. The street behind the house can be noisy. The beach is small and not walkable. The view would be better if there were a few less trees. The beds were comfortable but the living room furniture not at all comfortable. The outdoor furniture could use updating. Size of the pool was good.

The staff at this villa is outstanding! Chefs, cleaning and maintenance were all top notch! The house is beautiful w stunning grounds. It’s up for sale and seems like the owners have taken Furniture out so a bit sparsely furnished. Because of cement floors that makes it very loud. I’d stay there again but be aware that when one person gets up, everyone is up!

Perfect Girl’s Trip Getaway

Had the most amazing stay with my girls! This rental was equipped with everything we needed! Felt like a home away from home, and absolutely can’t wait to be back! Highly recommend!

The staff were fantastic-5 stars for them!. Omar took great care in preparing our meals and Darlin kept everything looking great. Both Julio and Francisco were very helpful too. One day Francisco surprised us with fresh coconut water. The furniture could use updating. Patio furniture was stained and seams pulling apart. Living room furniture was very hard and uncomfortable. The picnic table on the roof was not ever used as it’s not a relaxing item. The golf cart was great and very helpful with as far as the house was from Placencia village. The view was nice but blocked with the amount of trees and the street noise was very loud. Overall we had a great time. If we visit again I may try something further south or closer to the excursions.

Amazing villa, amazing staff

We loved our stay at the Balam Beach Villa. It was a beautiful house. The staff was amazing. We loved Sal our chief, Victoria our housekeeper and Sam who took care of everything from the beach to fixing the door knob. They are super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this villa and staff.

The most restful vacation we've ever had!

Our 5 night stay at Balam Beach Villa was the most relaxing and restful vacation any of us have ever had! Gecko's staff made everything so simple for us. With gorgeous views of the Caribbean (steps away from our own saltwater pool) and plenty of peaceful places to read and rest, this villa has it all. We are all planning to return to Placencia and rent through Gecko again!

Incredible stay with friends in the beautiful and picture perfect Balam Beach Villa! The entire process from booking to transportation to day trips to housekeeping and chef services…superb and very accommodating. One word of caution: YOU NEED a strong deet bug spray as the mosquitos and flies will try to eat u alive😆

Everything was as described and the house design is pretty cool. Great housekeeping and grounds/maint crew. We opted for an extra day of chef service and was well worth it but a lot of food. I will recommend you bring your own pool floaties and snorkeling gear because there is none. You can get the floaties locally. I would recommend the house have beach chairs to sit on the beach. Also recommend there be a wash off area next to the deck. We used a hose to rinse off the sand before we used the pool or go inside. It would just have been nice. Thanks to the staff and we all enjoyed the trip to Belize.

Birthday Bash in September!

The house was absolutely beautiful! The entire staff took care of everything we needed from party planning ahead of time, decorations, cake to ensuring all of our needs were met the entire stay! They have everything you could need to enjoy the beautiful beaches, close to restaurants or take a ride on the golf cart into town! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful home with all of us! Beds are comfy, lots of places to sit and relax, great walks along the beaches and very safe!

Overall the stay was superb

I stayed here with two of my gf’s for my 33rd birthday. The house is beautiful and exactly as pictured. Aracelli was our housekeeper, she was there every morning to clean & kept the house, our rooms and beds immaculate. Brittany was our chef and the food was AMAZING. We ate all meals at the house except dinner one night & one day for lunch when we went on our excursion. Pool was great and its great for photos.

Balam House

This was our first time to Placencia, and Balam House felt like a private oasis. The pool was wonderful and you could sit and read and look at the ocean over the pool. The staff was FANTASTIC!! The house was extremely clean and it’s very spacious. I would highly recommend staying here! We were there for our honeymoon, and we are already planning our next trip!!

Balam House

Everyone was very helpful and personable. We had Salvador make us breakfast, lunch, and dinner for two days of our trip. All the food was delicious! The house was extremely clean and it’s very spacious. I would highly recommend staying here! We were there for our honeymoon, and we are already planning our next trip!!

Awesome house with all the luxuries!

I've stayed at Balam Beach Villa twice now - it's actually the only place I've stayed in Placencia. Balam Beach Villa is a very modern house with all the luxuries! From the staff providing housekeeping services to grounds keeping and a chef preparing meals, everything was taken care of exactly as we asked, both times. They are all so very kind and welcoming as well! The concierge service arranges all transportation, tours, spa services, etc. A personalized portal is sent via email to review or make changes so all details are taken care of prior to arrival. Having a golf cart as part of the package to drive around Placencia is an added convenience.

Balam House

The Balam House was nothing short of amazing and our group couldn’t have asked for better accommodations! For our group it was perfect for the privacy we were looking for and if we wanted to venture out the golf cart was such a nice convenience to the property. The amenities of a private chef, laundry and a cleaning service were so nice to have. Having a gorgeous private pool and beach were the two things that set the property apart. We all felt so safe at the property and out and around Plancencia! It would not hesitate to recommend this property and Plancencia in general to anyone looking to visit Belize! 10 out of 10!

We will be back!

Amazing experience, customer service and personal touch from start to finish. We booked this trip last minute (within a week of departure) and couldn't have been more pleased with the entire trip. Our family of 6 (4 kids ages 7-15) have limited experience traveling out of the US and Gecko spoiled us. From Erica (concierge) answering questions 24/7, changing local flights to/from Belize City, setting up tours, offering dining suggestions, etc), to Damion our local chef who engaged with the kids, taught us everything about fresh/local cuisine and left us wanting more (but couldn't cause we were stuffed), to Ernesto who welcomed us day 1 and was always around cleaning the pool, raking the beach and hanging lights among the palm trees, to Darlin our housekeeper who snuck in and out daily with no disruption, leaving things super clean.......this team was top notch. The Villa was a perfect size for our family, well stocked/supplied and plenty spacious. Loved the high ceilings, concrete floors and windows from floor to ceiling. Each room had its own split unit AC which keeps it as cool as you need it. Even inside you felt like you were outside with all of the natural light. Close enough to everything on the peninsula of Placencia where a golf cart is all you need to explore restaurants, go to the grocery, visit other resorts, shop in Placencia Village, play putt putt or exercise at Inky's, etc. Cant say enough about how amazing everything was! We will definitely return...and stay longer!

Luxury Vacation in Belize – A Dream Getaway Our trip to Belize was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an unparalleled level of service. The Gecko concierge took care of every detail, ensuring that our stay was seamless and stress-free. Whether it was arranging private boat tours, coordinating transportation, or handling last minute requests, they made everything effortless. The accommodations were stunning—our villa was spacious, beautifully designed, and offered breathtaking views of the Caribbean. Victoria kept everything spotless, making sure we returned each day to a perfectly maintained space. We left with every article of clothing washed and neatly folded. One of the biggest highlights was the private chef, Salvador. Every meal was a culinary delight, featuring fresh seafood, local ingredients, and mouthwatering Belizean flavors. Waking up to a beautifully prepared breakfast and ending the day with a gourmet dinner was an absolute treat. The excursions were incredible! We zip lined and visited the waterfalls. We snorkeled and island hopped. Every adventure was well-organized, with knowledgeable guides who made the experiences even more enriching. This trip exceeded all expectations. If you’re looking for a luxurious, all-inclusive escape with top-tier service and unforgettable excursions, Belize is the perfect destination! We can’t wait to return.

First the positives:Beautiful location. Great beach. Beautiful pool and deck area. Large rooms. Outstanding staff. Ernesto was awesome, a tireless worker who did an amazing job of keeping the property and grounds immaculate. Chef Salvador was outstanding. His meals were fantastic and very healthy. Always fresh!Housekeeper Arielle’s (sp?) was so sweet and helpful.Opportunities for improvement:Deck chair cushions were filthy and had black stains on them. Some parts of outdoor couch unusable because cushions were so waterlogged Pictures showed roof top furniture but upon arrival there was none. Very disappointingKitchen incredibly dark. Not enough or bright enough lighting. I have no idea how Salvador worked in that environment For a home of this calibre and cost to rent the kitchen appliances were such low calibre. For 6 people you need more than a two slice cheapy toaster. Same for the coffee maker- it is the cheapest model imaginable The bed linens were not up to standard for a home of this cost. Cheap polyester sheets suck!Bedroom and dining room furniture was good but living room furniture was lacking. For an eight person house you could only comfortably seat 5 people. As well the one love seat was very poor quality So overall that’s why only a three rating. If not for the quality of the staff the rating would have been lower.

House is Beautiful

We booked our excursions through The day before leaving the operations manager bought me over a bottle of Moet champagne. The concierge Erika was great up until right before we were leaving, I contacted her to see how we could leave & the chef could get in & i never received a reply so we were stuck in the house the night before leaving. The morning of our departure she never communicated with me about departure times or plans. We only heard anything from our housekeeper even when the driver was 15 min late. Zero communication from her. After leaving never heard from her for a check in or anything. Thats the reason i gave communication 3 stars. Other than that she was great with communication. I gave location of the house 4 stars only because its very far from the “nightlife” its not much just some bars but we only went one night because it gets dark so early due to no daylight savings time so we were scared to drive the golf cart to the other end of the peninsula. Overall the stay was superb i have no real complaints at all!
