Obviously in looking at the promotional pics and videos, I was finding it hard not to let my expectations get out of hand. Having said that the reality was even better than the pics suggest. What the pics don’t capture is the detail and quality of the design and construction of these villas which are extraordinary!! The pics also don’t capture the additional loving touches that the staff add and the reasonable prices of the food and drinks, given how remote this is. A wonderful experience. Looking forward to coming back
We had 7 days in a beachfront villa with our own pool. On arrival we were very impressed with the whole resort and scenery. Stunning jungle and karst rock. Staff super welcoming and helpful. Beautiful villa with stunning open plan design. Totally beautiful and private. We had villa 101 close to bar and restaurant. Never heard a thing and the planting around the villa and our pool made it very private plus we could look out at the beautiful view. Great service in the room. Free daily replenished beer mixers gin or whiskey. Coffee machine. Toiletries lovely and all in eco friendly containers. Couldn’t fault the villa at all. Fantastic cocktails and restaurant. The waiting staff are fabulous. Nick the food manager is fantastic and always ready for a chat. Breakfasts were great and all you could want. We also did several excursions to snorkel and th the caves doing kayak s which was excellent. Going out on long tail boats is awesome rather than big speed boats. Small personal trips. Also went into town. About 30 minutes on resort vehicle. Bumpy road for 15 mins you truly are out in the jungle pirate and peaceful. Hired motorbike in town 260 Bhakti for the day and tripped around the island. Great to do and see the island. Very safe and not much traffic at all. I would totally recommend this resort if you want a quiet relaxing escape. The only slight negative was the frogs! I think due to heavy rain they come out at night. Was very loud one night and some ear plugs would be good, having said this I would still go back.
There are not enough words to describe our recent stay at the beautiful destination of the Treehouse House Villas at Koh Yao Noi. After a a three day in the hectic pace of Bangkok we were looking forward to a relaxing week at our destination. We hoped that it would live up to both the reviews and that the photos would do it justice. Well from the time we were met at the airport to our time on the transfer via speed boat taking in the gorgeous scenery that unfolded before us our expectations built. Everybody we dealt with were kind and friendly as well as the captain of the boat who gave us lemongrass scented towels and pointed out a few sites with a smile to wet our appetites. As we glided into the jetty we were greeted by our host Irina who greeted us in Thai and welcomed us to “paradise” and well it certainly was. The Treehouse Villas lived up to all expectations, the peace, the beauty, the staff, the food etc. Apart from Irina who couldn’t help us enough, a special mention for Nick and Roy who made us feel at home and any request wasn’t a trouble. Even if you don’t feel up to walking back to your villa they will transport via motorised buggy. We also enjoyed a beautiful romantic meal on the beach one full moon night and a charter for my wife & I to see the islands to swim, snorkel & swim. The staff are well trained to be attentive yet don’t overwhelm you and yes it is the land of smiles. The Treehouse Villas offer you privacy & peace and gorgeous views with room service, bars etc. The beach is peaceful & beautiful with bean bags, hammocks, chairs and reclining chairs to waste away the hours. Well I could keep going, this retreat is definitely on our list to revisit on a anniversary or to unwind. We loved it it’s 5-6 Stars. All our best wishes to all the staff thank you all for making our 7 days there blissful.
No words!! exactly what we were expecting and beyond! Service might not be the same as what we have experienced in the Philippines but the structure and view were worth every penny! Krob Khun Krob to everyone who made our honeymoon a little bit more extra. Sadly it’s too hard to remember the Thai names but we were glad that we have stayed for days. HIGHLIGHT: THE FOOD!!!
Privacy was first-class. Transportation to and from the hotel was organised smoothly, docking at the hotel's personal pier. For those like us (students with limited budget) a 1 night stay was definitely enough to enjoy the luxurious hospitality provided by the hotel staff. We had three meals at the hotel restaurant and enjoyed all three, they charged a very reasonable price (the majority of the dish were around 350baht or 15aud). We were delighted that the '103' beachfront pool villa we booked looked just like the images, the place was new and met its value. Despite it being the rainy season we were able to get sunlight throughout the day with the villa being glass-rich, if you're blessed with the weather as we were, then the rainy season is the perfect time to visit treehouse as there were only around 15 other rooms allowing the staff to provide you with thorough service. We were most impressed with the toilet area and made good use of the huge bathtub, young in the evening we were provided with tomorrows schedule inviting us to tour koh yao island's local communities, which would be an eye opening experience for first time visitors, though if you're like us a final dip in the plunge-pool and bathtub after breakfast was a beautiful way to end our trip.
If you haven't got the time or inclination to read my longer than usual review, then I’ll cut straight to the chase….this resort is heaven! More info below... First and foremost for us was finding a short holiday where we hoped it would “feel longer” than the 6 nights we planned to stay. If you’re looking for a similar thing in a short holiday, then this is what it was like for us. Time of the year: 1st week of June…the early part of the official wet season. You’re near the equator, so anytime of the year you should expect intermittent showers. We only had one day off steady rain (our second last)…that’s the tropics for you! The temperature was a constant low 30ish celsius, humidity (high) and the water around 25ish celsius. A benefit of this time of year was that the resort was not packed out…around 20 couples, which made it feel intimate! Accomodation: tree house villa (307), towards the rear of the resort (closer to the fringes of the surrounding jungle) which added to the secluded and private experience…we still had a nice view of the water! The upstairs room (living and amenities area) is perfectly planned out. Key nice touches included: open plan bathroom, massive comfy bed with netting/canopy, great use of space for lounge/living area, fresh and very clean decor, lots of space for clothes and the charging ports via USB were very handy. Downstairs area: the plunge pool is actually larger than the images suggest, there’s also an open air shower, swinging lounge, pool lounges, another mini bar and another toilet….a great use of space and you still have good privacy! Note: we considered a beach front villa, but pleased we didn’t. Why? Even though the slightly larger plunge pool was enticing, it and the rooms don’t appear to offer the same sense of seclusion/privacy or the specialness of a tree top villa. Having said that though, if you are someone who has difficulty or doesn’t like to climb the spiral staircase, then the tree house villas might prove problematic for you and the beach front a better option. Obviously, it all comes down to personal choice and circumstances. At night the whole resort is dappled by beautiful hues of violet blue and soft white lighting effects that make for a magical and romantic stroll back to the villa. Facilities: The Roots restaurant is very nice. Its spaciously set out area (not cramped with tables) felt new, open and breezy. It had a lovely ambience that was complemented by the direct access to the infinity pool area. There is a great selection of very nice meals (breakfast , lunch and dinner) and drinks for all tastes (western or asian), and everyday there are new specials, including happy hour 6-7pm. Be prepared to pay a bit more for you evening dining experience here. To give you an idea, for a couple: 2 x pre dinner cocktails, 1x main meal and 1x glass of wine each ( per couple between 3,000 - 4,000 THB approximate conversion to AUS $140-180) and for lunch, work on about 35-50% less. The service/staff and ambience is very special and management should be very proud of the staff and the way they go about making sure guests are paid attention too …the little things like serving etiquettes did not go unnoticed by us. For example, there was a young lady whose expectations for a western dish weren’t quite me, but it was no effort for the waiter or the chef to make it to her liking (freshly made). I know that may sound a bit precious, even a first world problem, but it’s a statement about the fact that all staff were focused on providing a positive experience. Another example was when a couple wanted to go swimming during the dinner period, the concierge politely advised them that for other guest’s comfort and experience they could not…nice touch! All up (5 out of 5)! BTW - DIAL 0…reception are ready to quickly send over a staff member in their golf club to delivery whatever you require. Note: you can also use next doors (Paradise Resort) restaurant. We only ate there once (it’s more of family type place). There is more choice for eating and it’s a slightly different dining experience to the above. You can expect to pay around 2,000 - 3,000 THB, however expect the meals to be a little bit less in quality/presentation/service and the cocktails are more like mocktails and without sounding like a prude, you should not have a Shiraz served chilled! The Beach: you need to be prepared for the fact that this region does experience big changes in tides. This means that during different parts of the day when the tide is out that swimming is not going to happen, but hey you have the resort and your own plunge pool. Also, depending on the time of the year, keep an eye out for the jelly fish…it’s not like they are everywhere, but do remain aware of your surrounds when swimming off the beach OK! I got stung (nothing serious, just an irritation that stayed with me a few days). Not that we wanted/needed or expected it, but also be prepared that if you’re the type that expects servants to cater for your whims while lounging on the beach, forget it… it ain’t that kind of place, which for us was a good thing! Bedsides you are less than 40 metres walk to the bar etc. You have to spoil yourself with a Spa treatment…many choices! We went for the 1 hour relaxation treatment. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you what it was fully like, because after about 15 minutes my body went into snooze mode :) Nature is at your doorstep too! There are a couple of large monitor lizards that roam the resort! I kid you not, but there’s this one big alpha male (approx. 2 metres long) that slowly meanders the walking paths like he’s Godzilla (don’t worry its safe). Remember you’re in their back yard! Also, if you don’t like the sounds of cicadas, croaking frogs and bird life, then this place is not for you. Activities: Try hiring a kayak to check out the nearby coastline. About 200 THB for a 2-3 hour paddle (go during hight tide). The Activity Centre has lots of different day and half day tours on offer, all of which entail getting on a long tail or speed boat to get to places. We did the 7 local villages tour and it was great. Includes lunch and a ride in the back of an open truck that took in some rustic local villages etc. Special mention to our guide Yib…what an amazing young man! Full of passion in sharing his story and back yard with us. We also heard from other guests that the island hopping tour was very good. This will be my first ever review where I can genuinely say there was nothing to complain about…the resort is exactly what we’d hoped it would be and much more. This experience comes down to one key thing for us….the staff and their service (exceptional all round). So did we find the short stay holiday that we’d hope would feel longer? You bet ya we did! If you are a couple looking for peace, seclusion and a sense of the being treated special in a great location, then try this place…we loved it! Hagen and Dawn
Recently spent 5 nights in the Treehouse Villas at Koh Yao & thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this tropical setting. Accommodation was stylish with amazing views & very clean. It’s a place where you can relax & go at your own pace in a tranquil, peaceful setting. Restaurant. Bar & pool area also had a relaxed feel with staff that were friendly, polite, helpful & eager to please. Food was great with western & Asian cuisine . Massages were amazing . At night we were serenaded to sleep by the local frogs & cicadas which added to the tropical jungle ambience of this wonderful place in Thailand . Would highly recommend. Will return
AMAZING. We were greeted at reception with a cooling drink and escorted to our room by the hostess. She explained everything about the villa including that we had Vodka and whiskey re filled every day for no charge. WOW. The treehouse was fantastic, so much room and luxury. The bathroom area was open and luxurious. My husband loved the plunge pool, where he spent a lot of time. Out host Nick was a lovely guy, who would spend the time chatting to you and making you feel at home. The food was amazing and the long island tea's went down a treat. Happy hour on the beach was a favourite. All staff were very attentive, I especially liked BIG, he was such a lovely young man. My only downside was the temperature of the main pool, it was a bit warm for my liking, but I guess if that's the only thing then.... As for the wild life, I did have an encounter with a lizard who walked in front of me on the path...only time I did't have my phone for a picture. Overall great place
We booked our stay at the Treehouse Villas for our honeymoon, upon arrival we were absolutely blown away! All staff were so friendly starting right from the beginning- whilst waiting for the speed boat, the speed boat ride itself and everyone at the villas! The food was incredible, so fresh and cooked perfectly. We were able to go to our room early, shown around and it is so easy to get help if you need any. A nice touch having a complimentary mini bar which is restocked daily! I absolutely recommend this place - it’s a trip of a lifetime! We went during rainy season however over our 10 night stay it did rain everyday but only for 15 minutes max! The rest of the day is absolutely beautiful, even while raining you can swim in your private pool.
We came as two well travelled couples from Australia and from the moment we arrived at Yatch Haven Marina for our transfer we were impressed., it only gets better. We were greeted and shown to the bar to wait for our scheduled transfer, so we indulged in a cocktail, the second served in sippy cups for us to drink on the boat. The boat transfer takes about 50 minutes and you are looking at stunning Phang Nah Bay as you travel to Koh Yao Noi. It tends to be covered in a mist which makes it look other worldly and utterly beautiful. You come around the bend behind a mini mountain to be greeted by the view of your villas snuggled in a coconut palm covered cove with a jetty and sandy beach. There are loungers, swing chairs, hammocks and bungalows on the beach for you to enjoy. Walking or golf cart the short distance to reception for a welcome drink before being shown to your room. We had 404 and our friends 402, we both would happily have these again as they were close to reception but on the back row and higher views. Everyone had seen the photos but it doesn’t do justice to being there. They have truly thought of everything and it is a restrained tropical elegance with lots of space and comfort. We especially appreciated the two mini bars, three if you count the wine fridge. The soft drinks and beers in these are complimentary as are two bottles of spirits refilled daily, we had a delicious gin and Japanese Whiskey during our stay. You get heaps of free bottled water as well. The hammock bath is beautiful and comes with bath salts but you also have your own private plunge pool with jets on the lower level and your own swing seat. The round table on the lower level was great for card games and room service. The staff were always friendly and helpful, we were blown away when doing an amazing (highly recommend) boat trip to Thalen Bay, our guide received a call from the resort to warn him that they had strong winds and heavy rain, where we were didn’t but the fact they went that extra step to make sure we were safe was appreciated. Like a lot of others we had the Luxury Escapes voucher and believed it was really good value. All 4 of us agreed that this was our favourite location and hotel out of the 100+ combined years worth of travel between us. Highly recommend, we spent the first 24 hours pinching ourselves to make sure it was real, you will love it, just don’t expect nightlife and discos, if you want that, don’t come here.
