The villas were v well designed and felt very luxurious. It was an amazing place to relax and unwind! Staff were really helpful and polite. Food was good! Especially the breakfast buffet spread, and the bbq seafood at night. The beach is amazing!! One of the most beautiful I have ever seen... Super clear waters (snorkelling is a must do)! Tip: the beach is usually less crowded before 11am
We had an enjoyable 2 night stay at The Racha. Great breakfast, friendly staff, lovely white sand beach & the best gelato we have tasted! The ATVs were fun to ride. We'll be back to do more snorkelling and eat more gelato:)
I really wanted to like this place, considering how beautiful the island is, but I couldn't because of poor attention to detail and management. Compared to the other 5 star resorts I've stayed in Thailand, this would rank the lowest and I would not be returning. 1. The problem begins with the transportation to the resort-there is an extra cost to take their boat to the resort, yet they are unable to do it for their guests in a 5-star manner. We were transported to the pier in an open-air local truck (song-thaew) crammed with other guests. I am appalled that this is considered "five stars" because if you were dressed nicely, you'll get off it looking like you just went on an adventure in the jungle with dirt and dust in your mouth. You then get on the boat which is crammed to the brim with even more guests and you feel like throwing up cause everyone is in your space. I have never once experienced THIS in the 30+ hotels I've stayed in Thailand. If this was 4 stars it was acceptable, but we paid money to stay here. After the boat you get on another song thaew to the resort, and by the end of it you literally come out looking like the rachet at the racha. Their reception was burning hot with no A/C and they would make you walk to your room far away after all this crap that has happened and guess what... my key fob didnt even work. I did not feel like I was on vacation and that i was just bothering the staff who lived there. 2. Staff members in the resort are not trained to greet you or even try to remember your name except for reception. When we asked for a golf caddy once in simple english, the driver said 'no english' and drove away. WHAT?! Did we seriously just pay 5 figures for this hotel... 3. The island was exceptionally stunning and the food was good. 4. Once again, checking out transportation problems. They expected us to drag our own bags from the truck in the hot heat and we had to wait for more than 10 minutes for that. I was so shocked that when i told the staff member to handle my luggage while i waited in their lounge area, they told me I had to GO GET MY OWN LUGGAGE BECAUSE ITS TOO MUCH WORK FOR THEM TO SORT IT and they dont know which luggage belonged to me. WHAT ARE LUGGAGE ROOM TAGS FOR? why put them on if you dont want to read it?!?!?!? Or why dont you change your star rating to 4 so I KNOW what i signed up for. Unbelivable. Avoid at all costs unless you have your own yatcht so you dont have to deal with lazy unthoughtful incompetent staff. Moved to sri panwa resort the next day, and the staff was so impeccable they were terrified when i tried to move my own luggage and told me to stop and helped me.
I took my holiday here at the Racha for eight days and impressed with the view of the beach and the zen-style facilities of the Racha! The beach called Patok is the most beautiful on the island but as it was monsoon season I recommend those enjoying snorkeling to go the Lah bay at the other side of the island with only twenty minutes on foot. I love in-villa movie bix offering you over films and the coffee maker there was so cool! The front staff are very friendly, especially "View" she is very helpful always smiles. At the pool, I was everyday greeted by "Din" the pool attendant who was always there to help you with towel and refreshing water. At Sunset restaurant, "Boy" always recommended me with tasty and good quality sea food. All in all I recommend the Racha and definitely will come back for my next holiday!
I've stayed at many 5 star beach resorts around the world; Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean, Dubai.... this is the best resort I have ever been to. The location is incredible. Sugar white sand, glowing turquoise waters, the beach is spectacular. In contrast to other reviews I read, I did not find it that crowded in July. It felt intimate, especially in the mornings. If you tire of the beach, the pool is incredible with amazing views of the ocean. The service was unparalleled. Kind, friendly, thoughtful staff who are eager to cater to their guests. The food and drinks were excellent, and a very reasonable price for a 5 star hotel on a secluded island. I loved the breakfast buffet, and complimentary sparkling wine was a lovely treat! My room was large, well appointed. If you need or want anything, you need only ask. Overall, my experience could not have been more perfect. I cannot wait to return.
The Racha was fantastic and loved the private villa, food was excellent. There's a wonderful fragrance of jasmine and lemongrass everywhere. Very good gym. Excellent yoga experience at the Om Studio, thanks, Slava (sp?). I can't say enough about Om Studio. The in-room could benefit from fewer tv remotes (there were 3) my Thai massage was perhaps little tentative.
We have just returned from 7 nights at the Racha. All aspects of our stay were memorable. We stayed in a 2 bedroom pool villa with a stunning view. The quality of the accommodation was outstanding. We also tried many resort activities including the Day spa, in villa BBQ, destination dining, private fishing charter and quad biking around the island. The aromatherapy massage at the day spa was one of the best massages ever. The in Villa BBQ was delicious with so much food. Destination dining was on the rooftop as the winds are high on the beach in July. The duck and lobster was delicious and memorable. We had a super time on the fishing charter, catching 10 tuna. The resort also organized a sandwich picnic in lieu of the usual Asian menu on the boat (tailored to be kid friendly). The only hiccup was the reoccurring broken chain on one of the quad bikes which caused some frustration when exploring without a guide around the island. Geraldo's gelato was a destination for the children. We also booked baby sitting in advance for a few hours each day. As there is no kids club, and given the remote location of the island this is necessary if you are looking for baby sitters. Our advance arrangements worked out perfectly. A special thank you to Bandidh, the duty Manager and the lovely Camille who recently arrived from Bordeaux to work at the Racha. We will return. Until next time.
Racha provided us with an amazing peaceful beach holiday. The resort has wonderful friendly staff. The 5 star villa accommodation lives up to its reputation and many villas have lovely views of the rolling surf. Spectacular sunsets can be viewed from the Sunset Bar while sipping cool cocktails. With 3 pools and a first class spa It's not surprising that La Racha is a wonderful retreat from the busy mainland . We would definitely recommend La Racha as a must go destination in Thailand
The Racha sit on a small island near Phuket called Ko Racha Yai. While waiting for transfers at Phuket we asked to pick our choice of freshly made floral scented bath/shower/hair liquid soap which was interesting. If you are looking for a luxury recharge retreat The Racha will be perfect for you, it only offers luxury suites, it's quiet, sunny, clean blue water with indoor and outdoor shower. However, they do not have a proper wharf for the boat to unload the guests, not sure if it was due to choppy water and loaded us from the other side of the island? Instead it was a floatty path where me and another guy fell as the water was choppy and the wave hit us while we ran on a 20-30 metres long floatty path to the island. I got cut pretty bad but didn't realise how bad until I got back to our suite. The nurse treated me, and management compensated with a bottle of wine, but i got told from my GP later that i needed stitches for my cut. As I have a wound on my knee i can't participate any water activities and I will have to live with a big scar on my knee now. It's such ashame I could had a perfect time there if it wasn't the floatty path.
We stayed two nights at the Racha and overall we had a good experience. Staff was friendly and accomodating. The hotel needs to be renovated as the property is starting to look old. Stains on the couch and nooks and crannies that aren't so clean. Otherwise we had a great stay the water was so clean! Though most of the corals are dead...so not a great spot to snorkel. I also would say that 8500 thb per night is a little pricey for a place that isn't all that luxurious. We stayed at the anantara layan in 2015 and got a rate of 6000 per night and the room was new, bigger and service was amazing. I did enjoy our stay but was just expecting more that's all. Also since we are on an island maybe there should be more free activities available to guests.
