Stayed in September 2016... Travelling in a Mid-Size Group of 8 Adults & 3 Kids. Resort was decently maintained... No issues... My major concern with this resort was that No Staff were available in the Late Evenings. Everything just abruptly shutdown after Sunset. Pools closing is understandable, but the Children's Play Area, the Indoor Activity (Table Tennis, Pool, etc...). Not acceptable at all. I honestly hope that it would be better in the Regular Season...

The hotel is good when travelling with children speaking a Scandinavian language as there are plenty of fun child activities. The pools are also great. The large restaurant is ok at best, but the children can have free buffet when adults are ordering a meal, making the overall price very competitive. The smaller restaurant is very good. We were actually surprised at how good the food was. The breakfast is good for Thai standards, we thought. We had a family room and the room was large with a small kitchenette, which is great so you can cut fruit and fix simple meals. However the room was very damp all the time and fabrics smelled of mould. I had to have 3 of 4 pillows exchanged because they smelled so badly. The beach is nice, long and flat. Good for running and walking. I liked the hotel overall as there is so much to do for the children but something needs to be done about the dampness of the rooms. I would not go back while it is in its current state. I talked to other guests and it was the same in their rooms so it seems like a general problem.

We had been in this lovely hotel in the summer. We booked all meals ( very recomanded .if not,its very expensive),and it was very tasty as buffet still in the morning against the sea. We had a room on ground floor opened to the pool .if you have small children its very nice to have such a room. We liked the pool with the small sliding, the long white beach and the lovely stuff. We spent a week there and it liked it very much.

Reviewed this resort online and all activities posted did not materialize. Thailand, being well known for its thousand smiles didn't happen either with the hotel staff which comprises of both Thai, Philippine and Myanmar nationals! One of the worst service from the staff. Housekeeping was bad as well! Toilet floors weren't washed and towels not placed appropriately and they can't even placed washed utensils back to place(we washed our own) Swimming pools operates from 8am to 8pm but they will condone off the pools to wash in the middle of the day! Lastly, the staff cant understand English and when I tried to reach for a tissue on their station, he actually pushed my hands away !!! Wow, that's classic! So ain't recommending and certainly ain't going back 🙂

Sunwing Bangtao Beach is a miserable hotel. The state of the hotel is of decay. The room smell of mildew and mould. On our last night when we got ready to leave, we found vomit under the beds. That vomit had not been cleaned under our stay at the hotel. Wonder how long that's been under the bed? When we complained the compensation was a few thousand baht. So finally a Big Warning. Do not stay at Sunwing bangtao beach! People that has given the hotel five stars probably are used to stay at a "stuga" at Ullared, not a proper hotel and resort.

The hotel is located about 30-45 minutes from the airport in Phuket. Overall this is a good hotel for families with different pools and right by the beach. There are several different pools (also childrens pool), we mostly used the main pool with the pool bar. The beach is just at the end of the hotel and the hotel provides you with beach towels every day (you get a "towel" card", so no need to bring your own). Long tail boats are located at the beach if you want to go out snorkling. The rooms are OK. Could need a renovation as they are looking a bit tired, but you have all you need. Also a fridge and small kitchen space (the kitchen bench could have been a bit bigger). I would not go for an all inclusive, we bought food at the local Tesco and made our own breakfast. The one restaurant (which is the one also serving breakfast) is OK. The food is good, but if you use English you might experience some misunderstandings as the staff doesn't understand English very well. This restaurants also have take away. There is another restaurant at the hotel (recommend to book a table) which have excellent food. We ate there several times and always very happy with the food. There is always taxis and tuk-tuk outside the hotel. The local Tesco is only a kilometere away. You can take a tuk-tuk and they will wait outside the shop and take you back to the hotel. You can also walk along the beach to get to the local city centre with some small shops and restaurants. There is also a small mini-market at the hotel. There are several restaurants at the beach where you can sit with your feet in the sand while having your dinner or drinks. The hotel has excellent wi-fi. Worked everywhere, even down at the beach. So all in all, it is not a luxury hotel, and the room need some renovation, but no problem. You have all that you need and great pools and a great beach. Room tip: The outside area on the ground level got very hot and we were not able to sit outside early evenings. On the 2nd floor it was more air and "breathable". If you have a room at ground level it can also get a bit noisy from the once on the floor above (they wlaked like elephants).

We have stayed in this hotel 3 times, and the reason we keep going back is for the following reasons; 1. We can get great pool access rooms at a reasonable price. 2. The pools are fantastic (kids love it) 3. Restaurant that serves b'fast is on the beach and breakfast is good. 4. Beach is beautiful and right next to pools etc. Perfect with kids as ours wanted to stay in the pool. 5. Other restaurant choices on beach and a shortish walk from hotel 6. We only stay here for 3-4 nights as we usually head to Ko Samui so, even though it is not that close to things, it suits us. The kids club is geared to European families, not a problem for us as we travelled with a big group of children, but if your an Australian or english speaking family and want to utilise the kids club, your children may find it difficult to communicate with the other kids. We don't select this hotel for its service or friendly staff or the proximity to good shopping or nightlife. Also its also a little run down (i believe they are renovating it this low season). We would go back again, especially if they renovate the bathrooms and fix it up a bit.

I'm sure I will never stay in this hotel again! At the beginning, it was quite ok, my kid enjoy the mini disco show they organised but the service in this hotel is unbelievable!! Overpriced!!! 1/ the location of it: the beach is nice, clear water tho a bit wavy; but it is really isolated, nearest 7-11 need a 15min walk, all you can do is buy from their mini mart, massage also from them, restaurant only two more at the opposite. 2/ condition: it need some maintenance somehow, i can see the fire alarm on the corridor was taped on the wall.... hope it actually works in emergency case, and my room don't have map of the escape path behind the door. 3/ swimming pool: they have several pools for kids n adults, also having a big slide. It is really a family friendly resort as they also arrange live shows for kids and adult. But.... maybe also because of lots of kids, the water was not too clean (I can see some floating tissue paper in water) and my kid got infection because of it( luckily they have a medical center that I can take my daughter to see the doctor immediately after nonstop vomit for a whole day) 4/ restaurant: never ever expect to experience such service in a resort restaurant! Staff were all wearing long face, they made a mistake on our bill and the waiter even shouted at us ' u don't live here', manger came, neither apologised nor stopping his staff. After this unbelievable experience, I wanted to talk to their GM about the issue but she never shows up even the case was told. 5/ food: Thai food are ok but soso if not Thai food. Buffet (no matter breakfast or dinner) were not replenished early. For breakfast buffet, they off the lights of the restaurant while people still eating in the restaurant. 6/ front desk: gals on front desk in the morning are the only thing I would like to praise. They are the only staff being cheerful n helpful! There was a night with sudden pouring rain, we travelled in a family with elderly and kid, 7people, were trapped in the restaurant area with all shed down, fans off. I ran to the lobby to try to get some umbrella while the guy at front desk just asked me for deposit right away. Not to mention they didn't provide any umbrella to use within the resort for this kind of emergency case, instead of asking an immediate cash deposit, the guy may charge it on room bill. Overall, for this price I think we can stay in other hotel with better service.

We spent 2 weeks at this amazing hotel in March 2017. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, all common spaces were cleaned reguraly and the facilities (such as pools) were also fantastic. You can have your breakfast looking over the beach (which is just a few steps away with smooth and white sand). I would like to say thank you for all the hotel staff, especially the Front Desk ladies, who were also amazingly helpful and sweet during our whole stay. I would definitely return here one day! Thank you ka for everything! :)

We had three generations here, with 3 very young grandchildren. This was definitely the right choice. It is entirely family orientated. It is a big resort with lots of facilities for kids. The majority of the guests were Eastern and middle Europeans and I must say that the kids were all very well behaved. It felt like organised chaos but we found some quiet spots in one of the many pools. My personal opinion as a psychiatrist was that the parenting overall was very good, otherwise it would be bedlam. Our room was large and very well equipped. The housekeeping was super; they were all there, gangs of them, ready to clean your room immediately. We found the staff very helpful and they did smile. I dare say that if you approach them in a friendly manner, are they going to respond in a negative way? Breakfast was very varied, it needed to cater for so many different nationalities. There were 2 good restaurants outside the resort and across the road and we spent a lot of time eating there as they were cheaper than the resort - also we could ask them to cook in a more traditional Thai way. Great beach too ! We really rated this resort highly for the above reasons. Hard to think of anything negative. We left feeling we had a wonderful holiday.
