Very nice free standing villas in a wonderful location. Beautifully decorated with a separate lounge area and all the comforts. There is a lovely central pool and each villa has it's own plunge pool as well. Excellent breakfast, pool bar and nice garden. Very pleasant and efficient staff. Good value at low season prices.
Our trip was from Seattle to Hong Kong (2 days) one night in Phuket and into Koh Yao Noi. Our first time in Asia. We wanted the beautiful, calm beaches but also wanted a taste of culture. When we booked Niramaya, we worried the island and resort would make us feel too excluded. Our entire experience was beyond expectation. Niramaya staff (whole island in general) are really really friendly. You are greeted off the taxi with cold washcloths to cool down and iced pineapple juice. The villas are spacious and quiet. It looked like the whole place was booked during our entire stay, but nothing about it felt overcrowded. Staff is always around for anything. The location is also ideal. When you pull up you look at a rocky beach and it feels disappointing, but two minutes walk away and you get the nice sandy beaches with bits of coral everywhere, and a few other restaurants, villas, massage parlor and options to rent scooters or scooters with side carriages (our option as a family of four). We heard you can walk to other places to rent kayaks for the day. Green coffee shop down the road is a great place to connect as well.
coming from few days spent in Bangkok, this island seemed an heaven on earth... the hotel staff welcome you at the wharf and what you see at first at the hotel is a welcoming and fresh pineapple juice... the room are suites, few of them, at the western side of the pool, have the private outdoor pool and two showers ( one inside and one outside.... a magic experience ) and don't worry about the privacy because your relax can't be interrupted by any human being! at your disposal there is an efficient room service, to have massages, to eat inside your private living room, otherwise you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner at the patio beside the reception.. at the swimming pool in the middle of the hotel structure you can order any drink you may prefer together with fresh fruit plates.... the staff is extremely welcoming and kind.. they can help you to rent a bike, or they can suggest you which the best solution to visit the beautiful, amazing rocks islands that you can easily admire from your room! the beach in front of the hotel is ruled by the tides.. but at the twilight don't miss the hammocks by the sea....... the prices are maybe a little expensive, but this hotel worths each single penny.
This resort room is incredibly comfortable; it is big enough with separate living room and a private pool; there is also a shared pool in the middle of the resort. The most satisfying thing for us is the helpfulness of the hotel staff. The general manager is incredibly friendly and helpful to help us arrange all the traffic and trips. The food in restaurant is delicious and reasonably priced. We must return to this place if we come to visit Thailand again!!
2 nights on the island we were expecting higher service for cost of 230 $ a night . Room nice but smelly bathroom and very noisy AC . No Chanel choice for TV , wifi slow , bed quality low Swimming Pool terrace wooden floor is all broken dangerous and have rusty screw out of wood board all around . Breakfast fast but don't match price not much choice , cheap Jam & butter , low quality coffee beans choice . Staff need more training about genuine service mind . The location is nice but owners need to have a serious look at maintenance and service offer . Today that really low value . Scooter available in good condition .
This hotel is simply awesome. Right across the sea, with an excellent view. All rooms have a private pool. Excellent service by the hotel staff. All small requests were taken care. We had spent our new years at this hotel and they had a nice party. They customized the food as per our requirement as we are pure vegeterian. Very nice breakfast. This hotel is next to villaguna but is much better. Would love to visit this place again.
About 15 minutes from the pier to get to this property. It locates close to the main street of this island, with the rocky beach on another side. Good Villa design and accommodations, and the small main pool. The staff was helpful and smiley. Wifi was good and fast enough. It's was not so worth for the price, any way.
It's very clean and good quality hotel. Staff is very friendly. However there are two serious problems: 1. It looks like bussiness hotel. You will feel there "Holiday Inn". Are you really wish to stay in "Holiday Inn" when you are on tropical island? Second problem is that it's much overpriced in our opinion. They have many about 50% discounts on reservation websites, but this 50% discount is still 200USD+ per night what is still twice more than real value in my opinion in comparison to local prices. I'm not sure who designed this hotel, but it's not Koh Yao Noi and vacation style.
Perfect! Couldn't have asked for anything more from Niramaya. We live in Phuket and wanted a 1-night getaway, crucially away from the noise and traffic of Phuket, and that's exactly what we got. The villa's perfectly laid out with authentic Thai decor. The attention to detail is great from the soft furnishings to little extras like lemongrass oil so it always smelt great. The pool was fantastic! The perfect size for 2 people, still great for swimming but with seats at the shallow end and a button to turn on bubbles! Waterfall showers indoor and out to clean off, everything you need inside, and very comfortable bedding made for a great nights sleep. The staff were exceedingly helpful, came out to welcome us, aware of who I was and despite arriving 2 hours before check-in time, allowed us into the villa straight away. It's so peaceful, views of the sea add to the atmosphere. Breakfast was set American or Thai and good quality, including bread, pain au chocolat and fresh fruit. We also had a complimentary ride back to the pier the next day. Thank you so much, I didn't want to leave! Definitely coming back. One criticism - get a wifi port in each villa! Trying to connect to a port two villas down wasn't great...
We wanted spectacular scenery, limestone karsts & long tail boats, beaches, a local vibe & good food -- but not massive crowds. With very little to go on about Koh Yao Noi in general, and Niramaya in particular, we took a leap of faith and (hesitantly) booked a family villa here. We liked the design/style, the two-story layout and the private pool at each villa. But for months I wavered, questioning whether the island would be too undeveloped and should we just deal with crowds at Krabi, or whether Niramaya even actually existed! To be honest, the website needs a serious update and all we had were a smattering of reviews here on TA and on booking.com. Would have loved Six Senses at a different holiday price point! We looked at Villaguna but didn't prefer the layout of the villas or the aesthetic. Koyao seemed too open to the elements, Paradise too far removed, the new Ani Villas seemed complicated to figure out. Bottom line I guess is always go with your gut. Our family spent 6 days at Niramaya between Christmas and New Year and it was wonderful. This amazing island must be one of the best kept secrets in all of Thailand (oops, shhhhhh!). The villas and the whole space were nicely designed and look just like the pictures online - crisp white sheets, dark wood & modern fixtures, amazing view from Villa 8. With only 12 houses surrounding the main pool, we liked the feeling of having your own private "house/space" with the benefit of traditional hotel amenities (room cleaning, restocking, fresh towels, etc). Basically we felt like the whole place was ours without feeling isolated in the middle of nowhere. It really seemed as if time stood still here - you could lounge around your deck, pop into your private pool, meander down to the main pool, gawk at the incredible view in front of your eyes, stroll across the street for a walk on the awesome natural beach, run inside your house for a blast of AC, etc... We loved the hotel's location. It is on the "main road," which made it fun for people/moped watching. A walk across the street, up to Pasai Beach or down a little past Villaguna and you're at natural beaches for swimming when the tide is in. (Note, as others have here, these aren't white, sandy beaches. They're more natural and rugged and when the tide goes out, there's really no water). Sabai Corner across the street has a unique location on/over the water and good food/snacks/smoothies. Hook restaurant next door was our go to for happy hour & a pool table, with a cute lounge area and little tables on the beach. There's also a little mini mart a few doors down where our kids would walk for snacks, the sometimes-open EZ Bar and Pyramid restaurant. We rented a mopeds and bikes up at Pasai with the fabulous & minimal request to just "return them tomorrow, same time." Exploring the island was a total blast, the scenery between beach and forest is beautiful and we loved shopping in the "town." We hired our long tail boat guide through Sabai after we spent an evening talking with one of the owners there. But Niramaya would easily organize a boat as well. Reserve a cooking class with Mina, who is utterly charming and helps you whip up a delicious feast. Everyone on Niramaya's staff was exceptionally nice and very helpful, but there wasn't always a proactive service mentality (which is unlike most other hotels we tend to stay in). For instance, there aren't staff coming to check on you at the pool and you aren't really given the lowdown on the island. But if you wanted drinks or food, all you had to do was ask and you were served with a smile. When we wanted to take a tour of KNY, all we had to do was ask and a sweet guide arrived to take us on a wonderful private truck ride. For us, this wasn't a problem and we actually preferred a less in-your-face experience. But just something to keep in mind if having someone anticipate your every need is a top priority. The only physical recommendation we'd make would be to repair some warped wood around the pool. We feel so lucky to have visited this special island and knew we'd be way off the beaten path in terms of the typical island/hotel experience. If you want a manicured, cookie-cutter, hand-holding, typical island vacation, probably don't come to Niramaya or Koh Yao Noi. Because as we found out, Koh Yao Noi is not typical - it's extraordinary. Our hope was that we'd stay in a hotel that was modern, clean, friendly and safe to give us the opportunity to experience what has been described as one of the the last undeveloped Thai islands. Niramaya delivered that and more.
