We stayed at Manathai Surin for 4 nights as a relaxing end to our travels around Southeast Asia. We booked a terrace room as we wanted access to a pool and sunbeds with privacy. First impressions of the hotel was good. We arrived at 12pm and were offered a cold towel and a drink. The receptionist explained that the room would be ready in about 30 minutes so we had a drink and some lunch at the hotels returant, Pad Thai. Food was good - but expensive...but we are in a hotel, hey ho!! After our food the room was ready and the bell boy showed us to our room. The room was just like the photos, except in a more tired state. The terrace area was nice, but small. The plunge pool wasn't big enough to swim in but good to take a dip after a hot day. PLEASE NOTE that the terrace is constantly shaded, there is a canopy above which restricts any direct sunlight. Hubby was abit peeved as he wanted to top up his tan in privacy. There was a few sunbeds around the pools or the beach if you want to catch some rays. Pool was clean on arrival and pool pump on. Bed was really comfortable. On our 1st day we had a note posted through our door to inform us that from the 11th - 18th June the pool at the Sala Bar would be closed for yearly maintainence...this is when the problems started!! Our room was 511, right opposite the pool. We were getting ready to go out on 11th and the hot water in the shower wouldn't work. We reported this to the reception and they said they would send someone. 20 mins later...nobody had been so my Hubby went back to reception to see what was going on and they said 1 hour!! Around 10 mins later the phone rang and reception offered to let us use a different room to shower in, which we accepted. This was behind the reception - away from the pool which was being renovated. It was a pool access room and it was tiny!! The patio area which accessed the pool was only about 1.5m wide x 0.8m length. The shower however was hot and lovely!! On the way back to our room the receptionist said the water heater had been turned back on and our hot water was working. The next day when we flushed the toilet, brown murky water was left in the bowl. When I showered the shower began spitting out brown murky water after around a minute - disgusting!! This cleared up after the shower had been running abit longer... The following morning the toilet would not flush and the water from the taps and shower was none exsistant!! We went to report this to the reception on the way to breakfast and she said it would be sorted by 10.30am. No communication whatsoever!! The water was however back on at 10.15am. Best part of our stay was the breakfast at Pad Thai. Large selection of Thai food, fresh fruit, salad, breads, cereals and yoghurt. You could also order hot foods such as omlettes, pancakes, eggs benedict, cold cuts of meat...yum!! The staff in Pad Thai were very lovely too. Spa on site was expensive. There was a leaflet in our room with "special offers" 930 baht (£21ish) for 1 hour Thai massage. If you walk 1 minute from the hotel you can get the same for 400 baht (£9ish) Location is okay if you just want to relax. Beach is across the road but didn't look very nice. Theres around 10 resturants within a 10 min walk of the hotel - mostly serving Thai food. We went to a gorgeous Italian just past Chavas resturant...the pizzas were authentic, crispy and delicious. Surin Chill House resturant was lovely too. Overall our stay was very poor. We are not complainers and have stayed in hostels during our travels so we are far from snobs. As a 4* hotel they should be ashamed.

My friends and I stayed here as we were attending a wedding nearby at a hotel we couldn't afford and found this wonderful alternative. We got 3 separate rooms and booked the rooms with on the hotel website directly as there was a early bird rate including breakfast (which we found to be lower than all online travel agents at that time). We rented a car and found our way here from the airport within about half and hour. There was free parking at the entrance and when we checked in we found out we were all upgraded to different rooms even though we each booked the deluxe rooms. I got the Surin room, and my friends got the Surin terrace room and duplex room respectively. My room had a small balcony (not much view but still a nice area to lounge), and the room was a decent size with a huge bathroom. The room had a safe, hair dryer and plenty of bottled water was topped up each day such that we did not need to buy any. The bed was comfy and I slept well all nights! My room had some unexpected visitors though - a cockroach in the bathroom on the first night and a frog outside my room door on the last night. I guess these are usual for resorts so they didn't really affect me too much. Just a quick review of my friend's rooms: The Surin terrace had a tiny private pool in the backyard to dip in but the size of the room itself was the same as ours. The Duplex suite had two floors - first floor was a living room, and second floor was the bedroom and bathroom. Service was decent but we were not told that there were two pools so we only knew about the one near our rooms until the last night when we decided to venture past the reception desk and found another bigger one! - we wish they told us this when we checked in! Breakfast was not too bad - a very small buffet of cereal, fruit and bread, but there was an ala carte menu to order from too as well with hot items like eggs, porridge or noodles. Would definitely recommend this hotel as it's priced well for the experience delivered

We received a delicious welcome drink on arrival, were given a very warm welcome and were informed that we had been upgraded to a lovely room with a huge balcony overlooking the pool. Staff were friendly and helpful, booking taxis for us, and sorting a take away breakfast on our last morning when we had an early pick up, without us even asking. The hotel was beautiful and so close to the beach, with a beach blanket, bag and towels all provided by the hotel in our room. The pool was lovely too, and really quiet - we had it to ourselves most of the time. Surin itself is quite expensive for Thailand, but cocktails at the hotel were really reasonable.

Across the road from the beach and with shops and restaurants within walking distance, the Manathai Surin is perfectly for those who want to see the quieter side of Thailand. That said, the hustle and bustle of Patong Beach is a quick tuk tuk or taxi ride away. The staff at the Manathai were very friendly and warm. We booked the Surin Terrace room but found the private pool was always too cold to use. The main pool was, however, perfect and right in front of the bar. The restaurant food was of very high quality and very well priced. We will definitely stay at this resort again.

My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at Manatha Surin Phuket. The building seemed a little old, but once we got passed that we were thoroughly pleased. We had a duplex room which had a living room downstairs and a bedroom and bathroom upstairs, The staff was excellent and very friendly. The food in the restaurant was great. Housekeeping was very friendly and kept our room in tip top shape. I honestly have no complaints. I didn't get to visit Surin Beach because we were always gone enjoying some other activity.

Hotel is average. Hotel itself is nice and clean. Basics are good. Stayed for 4 nights in the duplex room. Surin Beach is just across the road so location is convenient (also, Bangtao beach is a 15 minute walk away), and there are a few restaurants within walking distance (we went to Audy’s, Nok and Jo’s, Chill House, and D Thai- recommend all). Don’t expect much in terms of service. No warm hellos or friendly smiles here. It’s all business at Manathai. *Tip- don’t use the taxi services. Use Grab (app), link to a credit card, and save a few $

The resort looks very new, clean and modern and is in a great location very close to Surin Beach. Btw. Surin beach is ideal if you prefer less noisy environment, don't need a lot of bars and pubs and if you prefer more quiet and romantic place for stay. There are still quite a lot of tourists though, but it's not even comparable to Patong beach. And the sea is nice and clean and near the rocks there are lot of fishes, ideal for snorkeling. Upon check-in, we received a free upgrade to room with private pool which and we were very pleased and happy with this upgrade :) The room was spacious, clean and the private pool was a great benefit we didn't expect :) Since it was quite hot and even the sea was quite warm, it was great to jump (not literally) into private pool, where the water was ideally cold. The room has also a shower and a bath, fridge and basically all of the equipment you needed. Thi wifi connection was good also in the room and also all over the resort. The staff was very kind and helpful with any requests. Breakfast was also great - fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs, etc. We only missed more bread options as there were only toasts. But on the other hand, they had also espresso, which was quite good and not common in Thailand as mostly they have filtered coffee. We ate there also once for a dinner and the meal was very good, but a bit overpriced. I would recommend to take a 10-15 min. walk to Riverside Seafood restaurant owned by very kind local guy where the meal is perfect and the prices are quite low. You can find it going down the road leading to Bang Tao beach and the restaurant is just next to the road close to crossroad (it is on google maps you can't miss it). I think it was the best restaurant nearby within 15 min walk with big portions, tasty food and fair prices. Overall, we were very happy and satisfied with this resort and would definitely recommend it. Just a few recommendation for improvement: - The bar at the pool was closing quite soon (at 8 pm, if I remember correctly). Could have been open a bit more. Although the restaurant was opened till later time, still the pool was so nice, that having a drink at the pool in the evening would be very nice. But I guess this was due to not disturbing other guests having rooms near the pool. - The private pool in the room was really awesome, only after some days, it gets a bit dirty - not the water itself, but the water surface (leaves, dust, dirt after storm, etc.) so it would be nice to clean it from time to time. But we didn't complain about it as we were ok with it. - The bathroom, especially the shower may need some renovation soon.

We have just spent two weeks at this hotel and we thought the hotel was lovely. Our room (325) was really spacious. It had a lounge that you went through first, with a large settee, chairs, desk, tv etc then you went up three steps and through sliding doors to our bedroom. This room was also large with a very comfortable bed. Again through sliding doors was the bathroom which was also really large. The complimentary shampoos, body wash etc were really lovely too. We enjoyed the breakfasts each day. The hot food was waitress/waiter served and the cold was buffet. We found all the staff friendly and helpful. We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel but tried different restaurants in the village and also the two neighbouring villages.

My husband and I spent 5 days of our holiday at this hotel. Smaller hotel with two pools. We booked a deluxe pool view room. Good size with a huge bed and large balcony. Lovely greeting on arrival and enjoyed a tea whilst being checked in and then shown to our room. Nothing was to much trouble and staff are very friendly. We booked a Thai massage in the onsite spa as a couple- very good. Excellent breakfast with lots of choices to suit all and cooked to order The hotel is in an excellent location opposite the beach. Lots of bars, restaurants, massage parlours, supermarkets close by. Just around the corner are two shops offering laundry and ironing service which we always use when in Thailand rather than overpack - very reasonable Highly recommend the hotel and the area which we hadn't visited before. We particularly liked the size of the hotel, staff and a nice peaceful location

This is a lovely hotel, that was always very relaxing. located just a stone throw away from the beach and literally next door to shops and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Great breakfast hot and cold breakfast options with lots of fresh fruit!
