When I was booking my trip to Thailand I was a little overwhelmed with the sheer number of options. During one of my searches I found this place and immediately booked it. I found out later it was a little out of the way so I actually planned the second half of my trip around this resort. It was absolutely amazing. From the food, to the room itself, to how serene it was. There's a swing that fits two on the beach and I posted up there a majority of the trip. I brought a pillow from the room, my headphones, a few beers and I was in heaven. It was a little bit of a trek to get to, but what I found is that the island isn't over populated or crowded with tourists so I was able to rent a scooter and go exploring. There's a scooter rental place right at the turn in and as worried as I was about being taken advantage of by rental places this was a great find. They didn't hold my passport or try to find things wrong with the scooter that were there prior so I didn't have to be on edge. The hotel is mostly families and couples so I didn't do a lot of socializing which was fine by me. Their spa was absolutely amazing, I had several massages here and was in heaven. If you have he chance to make it to this resort I fully suggest it.
Beautiful setting an excellent resort -staff very friendly and helpful- lots of activities - accommodation very Eco friendly and luxurious. Really enjoyed the experience. Violet and Dessie wilson, Northern Ireland
We were at Koh Yao Yai Village in March for 5 nights. Excellent cottages/villas, very clean and a nice mix of traditional and modern design. Very private thanks to the dense jungle into which the villas are built, the distance between the villas is also big enough to feel quite 'alone' . Great staff, very polite, helpful and friendly. The resort's beach is not so inviting due to low tide which dominates most of the day, but the island has a few nice beaches to offer in just about 10-20 minutes by scooter. There are two very nice pools, the restaurant is great, the breakfast buffet as well. Koh Yao Yai is a very small island which is worth exploring by scooter, you will find nice beaches if you do the right research and other beautiful, tiny islands are just a 20-30 minute boat ride away. The people of Koh Yao Yai are very warm hearted and friendly, the island is definitely not yet spoiled by mass tourism (hopefully it will stay so). Koh Yao Yai Village is a great resort for couples or families who want some peace and quiet in a beautiful, jungle-like atmosphere. Thank you!!
Koh Yao Yai Village is a very beautiful resort. The villas are nice and clean as well the pool area. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff is very friendly. We had a very pleasant stay there. If there is one point to criticize: the beach could be more clean.
Just as the title says :). We like the bungalows, the breakfast, the swimming pools, the nature, the view! We also appreciated the front desk girls that spoke English - a real rara avis in Thailand. They were very helpfull. We also appreciated the transfer the Koh Yao Yai Vilage provided for us. Transfer has to be booked before and it costs about twice as much as if you were to arrange it by yourself. However, it is hassle free and it is worth the money! Especially the really nice speed boat. We didn't try the lunch and dinner at the restaurant, mainly because we like to explore and just 100 meters outside the road we found amazing Thai food and good massage at much lower prices. Also, the beach could have been cleaned more often. But this really pales in comparison with the effort they put into keeping the place clean around the bungalows. I forgot to mention that the entire village is inside a rubber tree plantation.
I was there with my wife for three nights as we were travelling around Phuket. It was the best of 3 hotels that we stayed. The service from the staff was fantastic and very attentive. We took a Village tour which was very informative and tailored completely to our needs. Time wise was based on us and our guide, Ron was very good. The rooms/huts were very clean, the food was excellent and everything we wanted from our holiday experience.
If you love nature that is the place to be. I have been here with a group of Bicyclers and us it was just perfect. We stayed two nights and we enjoyed our time to the fullest. We took the ferry to Koyao Noi and made a island tour there. On the last day we cycled around the southern part of the island, soo much to see and experience. The restaurant in the resort offers good food and it is priced very reasonable. The pool ist amazing and the view stunning. Certainly I will come back if I have the chance.
We really enjoyed our stay here. This was our first time to Thailand, and we wanted to spend a few days resting and relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of Phuket. The grounds are maintained very well and the staff went the extra mile to ensure that our stay was pleasant and relaxing. The breakfast buffet okay, as I wished it had more "thai" options and the prices at the restaurant were a little expensive. Thankfully there are several restaurants nearby which offer authentic Thai and are pretty inexpensive. The bungalows are rustic and cute and tucked away. Every now and then we were treated to the symphony of cicadas. We also enjoyed renting motorbikes and exploring other parts of the island. This was great for meeting locals and taking in fantastic food off the beaten path. We didn't go to the beach (as the infinity pool was awesome enough to swim in, and offered fantastic views of the bay. We would definitely come back here for a few days to rest and get away from the hustle and bustle.
I really liked the atmosphere of the hotel grounds. The bungalows are very cute, very Thai, the verandas are perfect to spend the evenings just resting and listening to all the creatures that live in the jungle surrounding the bungalows. The pool is absolutely fantastic, with its breathtakingly beautiful views of Phang Nga Bay. There is even a pool bar. Tip: Ohm (one of the bartenders) makes a killer Margarita! But unfortunately, for me, the breakfast buffet killed the whole experience. I have been to Asia many times and I always look forward to breakfast; to the wast exotic fruit selections, the countries specialties, like curries and noodle soups, banana cake, coconut jelly...to discovering new tastes and sensations. The buffet at Koh Yao Yai Village Resort is completely westernized! There was not one single Thai element on offer, except maybe the dragonfruit. They had 4 different fruits, of which one was hard, unripe melon. They had 1 processed cheese and 1 kind of processed sandwich meat, processed chicken bacon, which sat in the condensation water getting soggy and wet. The only thing decent was the egg station. It was extremely disappointing and frustrating. As much as I loved everything else, I will not return to this hotel for just that reason. If they would improve the breakfast buffet, make it authentic, better quality and choice, and even if that means having to pay a little more, it would be a really great place to spend a relaxing vacation.
We booked here after wanting to stay away from busy Phuket. We only booked two nights but quickly extended to three once we saw how beautiful and chilled out this island was! The villas here are rustic but so comfy and charming. You are tucked in with the wildlife and feel like you're away from everything! The buffets they run each night serve wonderful food and at a fair price. The nearby beach is gorgeous - we were the only two on there most the time! It isn't ideal for swimming but the pools are close by for that. Staff are friendly and welcoming. We would definitely recommend for a chilled place to stay and would love to go back!
