We were very disappointed since we arrived... it's maximum worth 2 stars...... poor wifi, poor location, poor environment. We booked a room that has a direct access to pool, and on the first night there were flies and ants on my feet! We wanted to cancel the later several nights but they didn't allow us to do... the breakfast was edible, and they said it was 2-5 mins to the beach... it was not... it's not worth the price. There are way better options
My family went to the Diamond Cottage to eat lunch, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant offers great food at a ok price. I personally drank the Watermelon fruit shake and it was awesome. However it was really hot and could do with a few more fans.
We stayed for 5 nights and wished it was just one. The staff were lovely but rooms in desperate need of attention. Could feel springs coming through mattress with very uncomfortable pillows. Bathroom could be better. Walls paper thin and had to put up with screaming child in next room every night. Breakfast not so good. It's a shame the resort has become run down as it is in a good location.
Have been here 13 days now and can't find a single thing to complain about. Arrived at around 5:30 in the morning and stayed in the pool area until our room was ready around 1 pm. There was quite a lot of people arriving at that time and some were furious about not getting their rooms. Why can't people respect the international check in time that is 2 pm??? If not fully booked you might be lucky to get access to a room earlier but if yr room is occupied with guests checking out at noon and then it has to be cleaned you'll just have to wait. And certainly not start yelling at the night porter. Booked one of the rooms at the pool "downhill" with direct access to the pool "river" running in front of room 401 thru 412. Are in room 409 and it's perfect. Relaxing at the terrace having a swim every afternoon. Very quiet and beautiful. Upon arrival I asked for extra blankets, bed mattresses and extra toilet paper (two women and I was familiar with the 10 sheet a roll Thai style toilet paper) and within five minutes the request was responded too. The cleaning ladies have not missed one thing. Sometimes, even at five star hotels, you have to call about a missing towel, coffee, soap or something but every day's it's been perfect. Pool area is nice. Food and drinks at pool bar good. Have had some good laughs with the staff. Especially when they forgot the tequila in my margarita- and I didn't even notice it... Had massage at the pool area. No complaints. Dinner at the restaurant. No complaints. Contacts with reception staff. No complaints. The room we are in are definitely more than three star. Don't know about other rooms at the hotel but the 401-412 rooms are great. That's the Diamond Cottage Hotel. You won't regret booking this hotel. Now to the Karon/Kata area. Nothing special really. Take a taxi to one of the surrounding beaches and go to Phuket town for shopping. Lots of ok restaurants though.
Upon arrival we got informed that hotel is overbooked and we where rebooked to an other hotel. It turned out that the other hotel was in the middle of nowhere. We certainly protested and requested to talk to Management. Booth was ignored. Due to transport back to Diamond cottage we missed a pre booked and paid boat tour and overall lost one day of our valuable vacation time. We several times requested compensation and to talk to Management, but presence of responsible manager (Name probably: Arunee) was denied each time. Message left did not receive any response. It was observed that this was obviously not a single case but rebooking happen to at least 8 other guests. So the overall experience was very negative. Pools are nice but small. Many rooms do not deliver what their category promise and/or guests might expect. Breakfast was considered under Average.
The staff at this hotel are extremely rude. When we arrived late at night for check-in there was no greeting what so ever, just plain rude. The night time guy was called Mark I believe. Whatever you ask for at this hotel it is like you are begging them. They refused to give us fresh towels too. The hotel itself is ok at best but the staff are extremely rude and unhelpful.
Diamond Cottage is a very good hotel located 5-10 minutes’ walk from both Karon and Kata beaches. Our room was very spacious with a king sized bed and nice seating by the window. The room had a balcony, although it was a little small and didn't have any furniture on it. The hotel staff were very accommodating and I'm sure they would have provided furniture if we'd asked, but in the limited time we spent in the room, we preferred to be inside using the air-conditioning than sitting in the heat on the balcony. Breakfast was self-serve buffet and the choice of food was very good. We tried to sit by the pool once, but all sun loungers had been taken by 11am when we went down, so we walked 10 minutes to the beach instead, which is actually nicer than a hotel pool anyway, so we can't complain at that. There are restaurants and bars very close by, with several less than 5 minutes from the hotel and a much larger choice available in Kata, which took us between 10 and 30 minutes to walk to, depending how far in to Kata we went. The main Karon restaurants were 20 - 40 minutes’ walk away, but we never went there at night as we preferred Kata. We would stay here again.
We stayed here as a big group of around 20 people for one night as a stopover as it was conveniently located a short drive away from Chalong Pier and also only 30 minutes from Rassada Pier. The hotel staff were helpful and we were checked in and out quickly with no trouble which was impressive given the size of the group. We tried out the hotel restaurant which was not bad at all and the wait staff were helpful and very organised in splitting the the bill for our large group. The hotel was very conveniently located and there are bars and restaurants nearby (although worth mentioning that some of these bars are not what you would call 'family friendly'). The rooms were clean and comfortable and we were upgraded to a swim-up room and the pool looked great however we didn't get the chance to make use of this as we were only there for the night. Breakfast was good with a lot of options of both Thai and western style foods. One thing to mention is that there is only one hotel van so when we called to ask for a transfer from the pier, this couldn't be accommodated due to the size of the group so we had to organise our own transport but this wasn't a big issue. Overall impressed with our stay for the price!
first let me explain if you speak english your going to struggle with communicating with all the members of staff or at least this is what we found. we arrived on the 18/2/17 at approx 9pm we were greeted at reception with a lovely cool fruit drink, we were checked in very quickly and to our delight were given a free upgrade, the bell boys took us and our bags up to our room on the golf buggies( much needed due to the massive hill) the room was faultless very spacious, comfortable and clean. there is a mini bar and fridge containing local beers and water at a cost. we'd booked half board so breakfast and evening meal were included, how ever not what we could of imagined, breakfast was basically what was left over from last nights tea and didn't look like breakfast at all -stir fry, boiled rice, mash potato, beef stew, pasta bolognaise, fish to name but a few items is NOT breakfast. evening meal was served in the ma now restaurant and was a set menu. you could order from a thai set menu or a european set menu which we didn't know before we booked!!!!! the menus were very basic but we tried most things and they were very tasty but got boring after a few days the only problem with the ma now restaurant is its open to the public and as they flood in, the hotel guest get ignored as a result on the second night ,we received our appetizers and 1 1/2 hours later we received our mains and starters together, our mains were stone cold so we didn't eat them the manager cleared our table complete with full plates of cold food after waiting another 20 mins for our desserts we gave up and stormed over to the counter to pay our bill which due to the language barrier was a nightmare. the following day i went to reception to complain which took for ever (Language barrier) they informed me they would look into my complaint and contact me regarding the out come asap.it's been 2 weeks and i'm now back in the uk and still have had no response. this hotel is in a great location for both karon and kata beach all the staff are very welcoming in there own way and always have a smile on their faces, how ever the management are a disgrace especially the 2 i spoke to regarding my complaint. but don't let this put you of coming to this hotel just don't eat here there are loads of great places to eat very close bye if you do come then 2 things are a must firstly a pool access room. it made our holiday and is best part of this hotel secondly is mr max at diamond fashion hes absolutely lovely he made my husband a fantastic fitted 3 piece suit (very cheap) even if you don't need a suit he speaks perfect english and is always willing to help.
Stayed at Diamond Cottage Resort & Spar. Tips : take sterling and change here - better rate than UK - hire a scooter - 200 baht a day - eat at places I reviewed & you won't go wrong - great hotel - will review soon - check out the outdoor market here, on every night.
