Aquamarine Resort & Villa4.0 out of 5.0

We have visited the Aquamarine Hotel 3 times previously and are very happy to see that standards have not fallen and things we had mentioned in previous reviews have been addressed. It is done out in authentic Thai style. Firstly this hotel has the most amazing panoramic sea view from the rooms, restaurant and pool. Breakfast is excellent with an amazing choice for almost all tastes and nationalities. All staff are extremely friendly and helpful and everyone has a smile or greeting for you. They obviously knew we had stayed here previously and our beds were adorned with "welcome back", a very nice touch. The rooms are of a good size with all amenities and all have a private balcony with a sea view. There are 3 swimming pools at the resort. The main terrace and pool is fantastic for children, with a kiddies slide into the main pool from the baby pool and a swim up bar for the adults. The hotel offers a few free shuttles a day to and from Kampala as well as Patong which we used on a few occasions. We would highly recommend this hotel for families or couples and would visit again.
I stay at the hotel for two nights. The hotel is in beach front kamala beach with a bit walking distance. The hotel has great view with affordable price!! Moreover, Hotel staffs are really nice! Would come again for sure.
This hotel had a good location , easy to travel. When my family arrived at the hotel, the staffs provide really good services. We were so impressive . Furthermore, the hotel has very beautiful sea view. It was so relax to stay here. Of course, i will come back again.
My friend and I stayed here because we wanted to be away from party central Patong. It was wonderfully quiet (we visited in low season) and the staff were very attentive and the cocktail bar in the pool was great! Three wonderful, clean swimming pools open until 10pm and lots of comfy sun loungers with umbrellas available. Our deluxe room was very comfortable and clean, great air con and useful fridge for cooling beers and water! Huge bath tub but the fixed shower head was a little low down (I'm 6ft tall so had to crouch down a little to wash hair). They offer a free regular taxi service to Kamala beach/main village (20 minute walk but along quite a busy road with no continuous footpath) and also free regular lifts to Patong if you want to visit night markets, lively clubs and raucous bars. Breakfast was the only thing that I might fault this hotel on, but there are lots of cafes and restaurants in Kamala main village so you won't go hungry. Would definitely stay here again for the great price, friendly service and very comfortable room!
We stayed here for 9 nights in a sea view double room. On arrival check in was good with welcome drinks and we were shown to our room. The room had fabulous views out to sea, and the rooms were very good. Big bathrooms, comfortable big bed and plenty of space. The location means if you want to venture into Kamala, either a 15 minute walk up and down a few little hills or grab a taxi which are located right outside the hotel for 200 thb. There is a free hotel shuttle also. A choice of 3 pools, one with pool bar, always plenty of sunbeds and fairly peaceful during the day. Hotel is very pretty with amazing views as it sits on the hill overlooking Kamala Bay. Staff were polite and friendly and the rooms were kept immaculate by our cleaners. The major downfall was breakfast which we had paid for. Every morning saw hoards of chinese tourists descending on the buffett. The buffet was hardly ever replaced and what there was to eat was always cold. The only good thing were the omlettes but that often meant a long queue. All in all a very good hotel but breakfast seriously needs major improvement. Good value for money and in a decent location with only a short cab ride into Kamala itself and the beach.
The Aquamarine Resort & Villa is perfect for those wanting a quite location away from the all the tourists. My sister and I stayed at the Aquamarine for about 8 days. It was a great 8 days at this resort. We both arrived at different times, but they offered both of us ice water with a cold towel. Which was great for the greeting especially after all the flights it took to get to Phuket. The bell hop took my luggage to the room for me, which was also great since I was tired. The room was nicely set and clean, the best part was the view off the balcony. Everyday I walked past the reception desk they greet us with a hello. We ate dinner most nights at the hotel restaurant. Most of the hotel guest don't eat at the restaurant for some reason, but we enjoyed it. The food was good and the waiters were always so nice. We also had a spa say at the hotel's spa. We choose the spa sampler package. Which included a steam room, body scrub, and a massage. The spa was great! If was so relaxing and very professional, we wanted to do it again but they are closed every Thursday and Friday unfortunately. Yes, as in other review there is a huge hill! The hotel is located on a hill like many other locations on this side of Phuket. The hill isn't necessarily a negative, just be aware there is one. One draw back is definitely breakfast. The breakfast is served buffet style. The food isn't bad as they offer a variety of options, but if you are a vegetarian you may want to eat elsewhere as they don't have vegetarian options. The only issue with breakfast were the other guests. They were rude and they would make such a mess on the buffet line and the tables. How people act in public isn't something the hotel can control. Overall, this was a great stay! I would recommend staying here and we are definitely planning on returning.
Beautiful views, wonderful staff, always so helpful! Location is great! Buffet breakfast was amazing! Can't say anything bad about the hotel! The catered for everything we wanted and just made our experience in Thailand that much better! Would love to come back again and stay!!
In general very disappointed with the hotel. We stayed in the sea view villa for two nights. The villa needs updating. Low water pressure and hot water not hot. End up we need to boil water for bathinh. Lights not working in the room. Out of date room decor. Breakfast in the restaurant was awful. Very limited option for vegetarian. Finally they agreed to cook vegetarian noddle for us but the noodle was so salty end up we leave the restaurant and have instant noodle instead in our villa. We will definately not coming back to this hotel. Can't wait to leave this hotel.
My family & I recently stayed for 5 nights at Aquamarine. We have stayed here 2 times previously, 3 & 5 years ago. We had lovely holidays both times. This time we had been travelling around Thailand, seeing other parts, and against our initial plans, we decided to add another flight and tack another 5 days onto an already lengthy thailand trip, purely to come back to Aquamarine. We were very disappointed. Apart from seeing 2 freindly faces that we have kept friends with ( the tailor and a bellboy) the rest of our stay was pretty negative. Our 1st night, day after Songkran, we checked in, and were sad to notice our favourite beach shack restaurants gone. Our rooms had no room service menu's even though we asked reception for them. We went to eat at the aquamarine thai restaurant, only to see that it also was closed down, leaving only the bistro style restaurant ( where breakfast is) We ordered, waited ages, even though only 1 other person was eating in this bistro. About an hour later I began feeling sick ( I ate massaman curry ) and th3n spent the next 2 days in bed vomiting and feeling shocking. My family hung around the pool while I was too sick to leave the bed. The resort looks tired and needs a lot of TLC. The rooms lacked and tourist info ( brochures, resort info, day spa prices and services and room service) The buffet breakfast was very very average compared to what it once was, and compared with all the other resorts we had stayed at throughout our tour of Thailand. On our last day I felt well enough to get out of bed and join my family for breakfast. There was very limited food, and what was there was been terrorized by the rude chinese tourists. I felt a spa would relax me, and ease my upset stomach, only to be told the spa jets broke a long time ago, and haven't been fixed. Aquamarine has a lovely location, but with the hotel food being terrible, and the beach restautants gone, we had to rely on a shuttle into Kamala to be fed. Apart from our 2 friends, one lovely pool bar man and one breakfast waiter, the rest of the staff ( reception) were unfriendly, and couldn't be bothered speaking as anyone passed. We were counting down until we left. We detoured, caught flights, paid taxi fares to come back to aquamarine, and feel very let down, having had such a negative experience. We waisted our last 5 days of our trip and our money on this tired resort. Aquamarine need new management and need to do a lot to bring this resort back to what it once was. We will never go back.
Amazing pools (3 of them!), pool bar service, incredible views, just so impressive from every angle. Our villa was huge with lots of windows and beautiful bathroom and sufficient air con. Stunning surrounds and lobby area, you feel royal just being there. Polite service and staff were happy to drive you to or from your room in a cart if needed - I was injured. Great thai set dinner enjoyed too! Negatives: Not a fan of buffets with limited to no western breakfast options although probably suitable for most of the guests. No power point next to bed in our villa for CPAP machine/charging access - problematic with sleep apnea sufferers but we only stayed one night so didn't complain. Alcoholic beverages very expensive, for example 140tb for a can of Singha - most expensive we came across in Thailand. Would definitely stay again for longer!
