Even if you can't upgrade to a suite / villa (but trust us, if you can it's worth it!) JWM Emerald Bay gets better every time we come. This was our 3rd visit and we have just booked another weekend. This place and the people who work so hard to make it great are just magical. The genius that is Bill Bensley architecture has not changed a bit and in fact the owners and managers are doing a great job to keep the place looking fresh and beautiful, and most importantly, in line with his original vision. The food was outstanding. Drinks were perfect. Live jazz was top notch. And most importantly the sun, sea, and idyllic pools were literally perfect. An army of people work to keep the beaches pristine and we spent hours building castles and swimming with our 5 year old. JWM Emerald Bay is certainly not cheap, but trust us when we say you get what you pay for. #WortheveryPenny
The hotel has done a nice job with designer genius Bill Bensley. The theme , every block, every meeting room is decorated in different themes. I am not a picky eater at all. But the food during breakfast is alright - i would not say that it is fantastic . Other 5 star hotels offer similar standards or better. Staff members were courteous. However the night staff at Red Rum( on 18october 2019)were rather clueless. Took us a long time to place the right order- we only had drinks. There were 4 of us. 3 out of 4 wanted drinks. Nothing complicated. But only my order was taken. When we corrected the situation, they looked rather puzzled.later , I did not want to charge the bill to my room, instead i paid by credit card. We were asked “ three bills? “ i said “ok,if you could split the bill into three would be great. It came in one bill.- this was fine for me too. In order to save the pain of redoing the bill, i accepted this. I checked out today and realised i did not get my card back. Had to call my bank over long distance to cancel and reissue my card. The staff needs a lot of training.
When we first drove into the hotel entrance, I just think, it’s another high building hotel complex and it doesn’t made me feel impressed but Once we arrived and received a very warm welcome from the personal butler and hotel staffs, it made me feel slightly different. Then, we entered into the hotel lobby... now, it’s when I fell speechless.... the interior design and decorations in this lobby is not like any other hotels! It’s so warm decorated, so tasteful, so interesting and truly beautifully done!! I can’t remember when was the last time that I feel so impressed by the hotel design like I feel here. All the small details and all decoration pieces match so well together. From the tiles, furnitures, color theme, settings... I LOVE Everything here! Not to mention, we were lucky enough to stay in the Turquoise Suite, 90 sq.m. on the 6th floor with the ocean view and of course, the highest ceiling suite of the building and this was another moment of speechless for me, when I entered the room, it truly blows my mind. This turquoise suite is truly beautiful and it’s definitely worth every dollar you paid for. The interior design is nicely and elegantly done. I Love every little details, color theme and concept. So NICE here. It really made you feel like, you can spend the whole day and night in the room without going out and you still can have the prefect holiday!! The hotel has 3 swimming pools and what I love is that there is an adults pool where children are not allowed as they do have another big pool for the family. I think, this idea is great so that every type of guests can enjoy their pool times without interrupting each other’s. The restaurants here offers high quality of food and atmosphere! We visited the Pink Pearl French Restaurant, The Red Rum, The Department of Chemistry Bar and the breakfast buffet restaurant and can only say, the service and quality of food is very good. Highly recommended this hotel for your next stay!
The hotel is new albeit it has based its pedigree on a fictitious university. Think Harry Potter meets Alice in Wonderland and you pretty much have an idea of why this hotel is different. The service from the staff here was exceptional, and the breakfast buffet was also great (although they should bring back the proper banh mi rolls and stop using French baguette segments). The rooms were very nice and with high ceilings. They were created in a turn of the 20th century French colonial style. We relaxed here and did some dives with a nearby dive centre who collected us from the hotel each day for free. We were pleased to learn that Marriott are working with the dive centre to help create a reef just off the Marriott's beach. The sea life was already improving just off the shore and this is to be applauded.
Bill Bensley did an amazing design job with the JW Marriott. Attention to detail in every nook of the hotel and room. Our family of 4 (with two young daughters) loved the rooms which were adjoined by a lockable front foyer door. Beach was wonderful, calm, clean, white sand, and pleasant beach service. Food was spectacular especially the dessert buffet which I would rate as one of the best in the world. Hotel was fully packed as it was National Holidays for the Chinese but staff managed to handle the breakfast rush extremely well. Gym was huge and conference room was quirky. Rooms are spacious with a glorious shower. The onsite Magician made our stay that extra special as his constant big grin made us laugh all the time. Pink Bar was amazing.
We chose this resort to celebrate our 10th year wedding anniversary. When we arrived, we received an upgrade to a sea view room and our room had been nicely decorated for our celebration and also providing nice gift. Thank you very much for a nice touch. This resort looks stunning every where you look, from the internal to the external design. We have never seen such a great high ceiling head shower, it feels like I was standing under the rain shower. The bedroom and bathroom are cleverly designed. As long as the great products, JW Marriott has well trained their staff to provide exceptional service, their staff goes extra miles to make sure the guests are happy. Our door key didn’t work but the staff came to assist right away, then after that they sent some handmade cakes & a card to apology for the inconvenience. We couldn’t ask for more. Shout out to Varun in the restaurant that has been really friendly & always checking if everything was fine with us or if he could assist with anything else. Also, their staff is cleaning the beach every hour of the day. We witnessed they were even in the sea to clear the plastic & rubbish before it washed up on the beach. We have travelled to so many beach resorts in Asia however this is the first resort that we saw they care and tidy up the beach. We would definitely come back here again & highly recommend this resort to anyone. Well done JWMarriott Phu Quoc Team. Thank you Huyen Davies
We have been staying here for 5 nights & the attention to details from the staff is exceptional as they help in every ways to make our stay excellent. We would like to mention Mr.Tu who is working at the beach/ pools area as being very helpful and always aims to please all guests. In addition, we witnessed the beach being cleaned every hour of the day so throughly. We were also utterly amazed to see the staff were cleaning inside the sea for any potential litter before it washed up on to the beach. It seems that every square inch of garden have been manicured to perfection with the internal & external architecture of the resort buildings also to stunning effect. I would strongly recommend any travellers/ tourist to stay at this fantastic place as it was a once on a life time experience for us. Huw & Huyen Davies
Where do I begin. One of the best hotels/resorts that we have ever stayed at. We are expats living in Asia and travel all of the time. This place was amazing. The rooms were stunning. We are titanium platinum level rewards members and were upgraded to an ocean front room for the first three nights. Initially I was disappointed because we are usually upgraded to a suite but whenever I saw the room it was just amazing. The furniture is unbelievable. Really beautiful and so in tune with the motif of the entire resort. After three nights a suite became available and they gave us a complimentary upgrade. We almost didn’t move because we liked our initial room so much but the suite was over the top. Can’t say enough about how beautiful it was. Truly amazing. The staff throughout the resort is probably the best that we have ever encountered. Nothing is to much trouble. I would like to personally mention Varun the food and beverage manager. I have never seen an executive care so much about their guests happiness and go out of their way so much to make sure that each guest is enjoying their stay. We had an issue in one of the restaurants (due to a rude guest, not the staff or food) and he went out of his way to make sure that it was handled. All of the food at the different venues within the resort is wonderful, and you see Varun everywhere making sure that guests are happy. We ate at the pearl and the food was lovely and the atmosphere was top notch. I really can’t say enough about this resort. Someone mentioned trash on the beach in an earlier review but I have not found any of that at the resort. I’ve been to the maldives twice, and this place has water every bit as clear and beautiful. Just a wonderful place. Great job Marriott. We will be back.
Feel like I went back in time to 19th century. So much to see and learn. To me, it is a museum. Well done Marriott!!! For preserving all the items in the compound. You must visit to know what I meant.
We booked a room for 2 night stay at JW Marriott Phu Quoc for our honeymoon and were totally impressed. The architecture of buildings here are amazing, totally recommended the University Tour, guided by friendly and enthusiastic Joe. Everywhere we go, we are treated with smiles from the staff, especially mr Tu guarding at the beach near to Sun pool, he checked on us very often to make sure we were well taken care of!
