This is certainly one of the most luxurious places in Phnom Penh. The service and rooms are perfect - very well trained (and some genuinely warm, particularly in the Chinese restaurant) staff, large rooms and a selection of restaurants and special facilities. However, the place lacks atmosphere, there is no history despite the attempt to create a colonial touch, and the grounds around the buildings as well as the views from the rooms are not particularly attractive. Also, the very obvious attempts to get a few extra dollars out of the guests (overpriced limo service, conspicuously placed laundry bags, ridiculous prices for certain restaurant meals etc.) are annoying. Also, the location is not really central. The check-in was smooth albeit not particularly quick (despite previous payment), the check-out was slow and annoyingly it was not possible to pay incidentals with a different card than the one used to pay the room rate. The room turned out to be really big, well designed and decorated, with ample space to work and relax. Unfortunately, the bed was not to my liking (too hard) and the adjustment of the AC is not self-evident. The bathroom was very nice, with the (small) WC and (large) shower/bathtub separated from the area where the sink was located. Wifi was stable. Breakfast is a real treat - a fantastic selection and very good quality. Pricey but well worth it if you have enough time and appetite to enjoy. Food in the Italian restaurant was OK but mostly overpriced. The Chinese restaurant on the other side was excellent and offered a good price/quality ratio. Attention: one evening this restaurant was closed as it had been booked by a group so plan alternatives/ask ahead of time.
After staying 5 nights at the Sofitel in Siem Reap which was amazing, it was going to be hard to beat. The hotel itself is beautiful, staff were pleasant and food was amazing but the service level was not as good as our previous hotel. The pool area was clean but missing that resort feel and the spa staff were not as experienced as i would have hoped. Room was a great size and bathroom was great, although we had a very noisy toilet. Room service was great and the good was amazing. The afternoon tea was to die for, service A+ and beverages and food spot on.
Was very Glad to be selected to be guest of the day! Upgraded room, club access .. and had purchase the package in spa was included . The spa will need extra training n attention to details. Hope to visit soon and see improvement in the spa... overall it’s a nice place to stay!
It was my first visit in Combodia. Loved the famous chain Sofitel in Phnom Penh. Warm welcome with grass lemon juice...fast room service. Beautiful spacious rooms with magnificent river view. Very prompt smiling staff, prompt service...very clean interior...cool pool side. Wish to visited again.
Not knowing what to expect on our first visit to Phnom Penh, we were delighted and pleasantly surprised to have such a wonderful room with balcony on the 11th floor, with great views over the city and beyond. The room was comfortable, lacking absolutely NOTHING. Great service, food and drink down in the bar. The breakfast is absolutely amazing, the best we have ever had, anywhere we have travelled. Such an amazing aray of goodies and Asian food as well as Western. If possible would go back just for that. This hotel is well worth a stay.
The Sofitel is definitely one of the best luxury hotels in Phnom Penh. I've just spent there my 3rd or 4th stay and I've enjoyed every minute there. I stayed in a large and very comfortable suite. Cocktail hour in the Club is relaxing and intimate while the breakfast buffet downstairs is impressive and allows a great morning start. The staff is both helpful and competent. The hotel used to be located in a remote part of the city but Phnom Penh is expanding very quickly and the Sofitel is now in the middle of a trendy new district.
Me and my husband went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. So my husband choose this Italian restaurant Do Forni . So in the morning we made a phone call and reserve a table for two in Do Forni restaurant and they asked us it this any specially occasion and a regular dinner . We told them it’s our wedding anniversary so they asked do you like to arrange us for a romantic dinner we said yes . They have taken our names , phone number and email . After reaching there we have found they have no idea about the booking and there was no table ready for us and they asked us to wait for two mins and they arrange a table for two for us . I was totally disappointed. Food was good , they had some welcome drinks and antipasto . But the reason to give 4/5 that they didn’t take our reservation properly otherwise I could have give them 5/5 . Everytime we celebrate our wedding anniversary nicely and the restaurant people always make it more special but this time they didn’t even reserve a nice table for us :(
5 Stars service from A to Z . Been there about 20 times now and it is by far the best luxury hotel in south east asia i see while im travelling for business. Congrats to all the staff and the management to make all of my stay so enjoyable!
Was impressed with my overall stay - large room, comfortable bed, fast wifi, nice amenities. Service was impeccable throughout my stay - from the doorman to the hotel manager. All of them made the stay more pleasant and comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located near the center of town where everything is within a short walk or short taxi ride away.
I have eaten at the Sofitel (La Couple) several times and have never had an experience that was anything short of outstanding. I recently spent the evening at another of the Hotels restaurants Da Farni and am so glad I did. To begin, the atmosphere in the Ristorante Italiano was perfect for a quiet, romantic dinner. I dined alone, but upon entry was offered any table in the house - each offered a unique view (the open kirchen, the wine cellar, the outdoor patio, the pool, etc). so I opted for a quiet table overlooking the patio and pool. After looking at the dinner menu, I decided to go with a lovely 2015 Borola paired with a beef tar tar (of course there were fresh truffles on the appetizer). For dinner I opted for the chefs saltimbocca (lamb wrapped in a prosciutto and topped with a demi glace) There was table side service (thank you Sony) slicing the truffles and adding to my meal. Three times during my evening, the head chef walked over and explained each of the dishes and of course taking time to explain preparation techniques and even gave out a few secrets. I opted for the tiramisu for dessert (although completely full from the appetizer and dinner portions). Good move on my part. The ration of lady fingers to creme and cocoa was ideal. One of the best I have ever had. Just when I though the fun was over, I was offered limoncello and homemade Italian cookies (meant to be paired together). Again, the head chef walked me through the pairing and explained how both were prepared. What a great time and thanks to the chef and staff (Visna, Saroun, Theara, Kimhy, Sreypov and Naron) for turning an ordinary Sunday night into something great. I am already looking forward to the next pairing event.
