King Grand Boutique Hotel The worst hotel we were in during our whole stay in Indochina – we were there for a month. I will explain point by point: Location: It is located in a very scary alley. Yes, it is close to the Royal Palace but far away from the markets, the restaurants and the city atmosphere. Rooms: Nothing is what it looks like in the pictures. The furniture is old and dirty. Covered in blemishes and damage. To get to our rooms we needed to get a lift and several stairs. There is something like two buildings next to eachother which makes it really difficult to move around when carrying your suitcases. Bottled water is 2.5 dollars for a small bottle, more than any luxurious restaurants in the city, it would be like charging 10 euros in Europe – extremely expensive. Staff: Very unfriendly, moody, did not see one smile in our whole stay and they are not willing to help when you need them to. If you ask for yogurt or a bit of oil for breakfast at 8am, when the breakfast shift ends at 10 am, they will say they don’t have left and won’t give you any. Swimming pool: The one on the roof top is tiny and the water is very dirty, there are four sunbeds because they can’t fit anymore. The one downstairs is IN the restaurant, with no space for lying down without being seen by everyone having their dinner. The water there is also dirty. Restaurant: The worst thing we have ever experienced. We spent two days there, we ate lunch in the hotel’s restaurant as soon as we arrived and they served us food in very bad state. Our only days in Phnom Penh were spent in the hotel bed with terrible stomach pains, diarrhoea and vomits. We told the reception staff but they offered no help, they didn’t have a set protocol for these cases. We had to ring the doctors back in Spain 5 times. We were in a very bad state. Management: Appalling. After missing two days of holidays – with the cost that implies (planes, hotels, visas...), when I asked to speak to the manager (which I had to ask 4 TIMES), he offered a 30% discount over the restaurant bill and the water we drank from the room fridge. Unbelievable. After the unbearable pain, missing part of our vacation, the plane costs, the hotel and the horrible time my children had (two underage), I still had to pay for the intoxicated food and the water we had to drink to prevent dehydration. Complaint Form: When I asked for a complaints form, they gave me a blank piece of paper and a pen. Please find the photo attached. I will be in touch with the Cambodian Embassy in Spain to formalise the complaint because even after I had to pay for the intoxicated meal, I never got a receipt for it nor a complaint form. The manager even threatened me when I decided not to accept his discount as blackmail. I did let him know that there were ways to make legal complaints, but he did not know about them. I also told him I would share my experience with the TripAdvisor community.
Found staff difficult to communicate with due to language barrier, staff are not overly friendly or helpful. Linen was grey/brown in colour. Will only take fresh US notes and can not assist with exchanging money.
This was a nice hotel and for a fare price in Phnom Pehn. On walking distance from the royal palace, river side, nice restaurants. Nice room with good bathroom. The only min point was the airco. He could not cool the room so it was warm at night. The breakfast is very good and you sitting in a nice place. If you want to have a nice diner or a beer there is a place nearby the hotel. Walk out the hotel and turn right and after 100 mtr on the left side you find the restaurant.
Nice hotel. Staff were attentive and friendly. Rooms were great and near several spots that have decent and affordable food and drinks. Aeon mall is just a short tuktuk ride as well as several places of interest like the Russian market, the Royal Palace and the river side which had awesome bars and restaurants.
A pretty vanilla hotel . Decent wifi . Breakfast not much to talk about and at this price range you definitely get better rooms in PP. The saving grace was the Nepali restaurant across the street which delivered great food for 5 consecutive meals which would impress the high bar of Indian taste buds for Indian food .
This hotel was very well located and the rooms were perfect. The hotel was great for sightseeing as it was a super short walk to the royal palace and other museums and sightseeing was only a short drive away. Loved the rooftop bar it was super relaxing to sit up there and have a cocktail, the view was also super spectacular. Would stay here again.
We stayed here for couple of days. The hotel has good location and nice facilities. Breakfast was good. Room was nice, but there was not so much space. We couldn't fit 2 suitcases properly in the room... But there was a small balcony with a nice view.
Great place to stay very roomy good pool taxis at the door an very polite an attentive staff would certainly have a return visit in the future live the breakfasts just need to get the beers colder for the kiwis an ozzies
Undoubtedly the hotel is very centrally located and also has good rooms, nice pool and sky bar. However, in my experience the staff wasn't very attentive and seemed very disinterested. I had really dirty towels, while it was replaced immediately, nobody cared to apologise. Also, the toilet in my room had this pungent smell through out. Overall, for the location and overall amenities I would give a thumbs up. But for cleanliness and service I would rate it as average.
This hotel is in a good position, near the city centre. The breakfast is good and there are a lot of choice. There are two pools but both are really small. The rooms are a little bit too small, but it's ok.
