Juliana Hotel Phnom Penh

The hotel was a good choice for the money. Mid range resort. I booked it because it had a pool and the pool was nice. The location isn't anywhere special as it is inland but the Tuk Tuks and take you anywhere you need to go at a very low cost. Overall it's a good place. The breakfast is good and included in the rate.

This is a good value hotel and the room I stay at was very nice and clean. However, the staff, esp. the front desk and restaurant, may need more training. They have an excellent assistant manager (Filipino) who is very knowledgeable and understands how to run a hotel. Excellent pool area! Hotel is not located near the River front area so it's not centrally located. But the hotel itself is quite nice. They did a good job of booking me a bus for Siem Reap/Angkor Wat--bus picked me up at hotel. Will return and stay here again when in Phnom Penh.

The hotel is not too bad. It has a nice pool and the staff are very friendly (but not especially helpful). The rooms are fairly standard but getting along a bit in age and with a number of age related quirks. The breakfast was ok but no where near as good as the other places I have stayed at in Phnom Penh. On the down side the internet in my room only worked for a total of 2 hours. The internet on the first floor and lobby was OK but instead of moving me to a room that had working internet the staffs' solution was to have me do my work in the lobby. As I was there for a conference I need to do work in the evening this was annoying. When I booked I made sure that I chose a hotel that had internet in the rooms. The internet is, understandably, not great in Cambodia but it is Ok and in three visits this is the first time that I have had this type of problem. The location is also not that great. The neighbour hood is OK but it is quite far from anywhere you would want to go. Also, there are no decent restaurants within walking distance so you are left overpaying for a mediocre buffet lunch/dinner in the hotel restaurant if you want to eat close to the hotel. (There are lots of great, inexpensive places to eat out in Phnom Penh so this is a definite negative.) On the whole you would be better staying at a hotel closer to the centre. I am sure you can find a better place with better service (and working internet) for cheaper that is in a much better location.
