Stayed here 2 nights with my wife whilst we enjoyed the sights of Phnom Penh. The rooms are more like apartments as there is a small kitchenette with everything you need to look after yourself. It also has the feel of a resort with it’s open reception area and backing onto the River. We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the walk along the River is quite pleasant (despite the humidity). There is an ATM in the reception area which dispenses USD. For 95% of the time in Cambodia you only need USD for shopping etc. even tips are accepted in USD. The hotel is very close to the Royal Palace - only a 5 minute walk. Highly recommended
We had a warm welcome for our group on arrival in the large open foyer where we were given a welcome drink before we got our keycards. Our room was a decent size and had a view from the balcony of the hotel’s main entrance and you could just see a part of the nearby river. The room was an apartment really as it had a proper kitchen area with a decent sized fridge and a microwave. There was also a dining table and chairs and plenty of storage space. The bathroom was a reasonable facility although the shower was not separate and was operated above the bath. There were tea and coffee making facilities and most of the plugs seem to be UK spec flat three pin type. We had breakfast on both mornings in the restaurant which offered a broad range of European and Asian food. We used the outdoor swimming pool which was on the ground floor near the gym and about 30m in length. There are plenty of restaurants a short walk away along a riverside promenade which makes for a pleasant stroll there and back in the evening. The staff were all very attentive and helpful, greeting us in the traditional Cambodian way each time.
Large rooms with kitchenette, plus dining table. Great buffet breakfast. Excellent for meetings in the room, or the business cafe. Great and helpful staff. Big swimming pool, tennis court, craft beer bar. Always feel safe and comfortable here, especially when travelling solo.
Comfortable and clean apartment hotel. Good location. We had a good view of Mekong River. All the staff were courteous and helpful. We stayed as a part of the tour group on bed and breakfast basis. There was a large choice of breakfast dishes including fresh fruits.
We traveled with a group of 35 people, including our families, for business. The location of the hotel was perfect. Excellent views of the Mekong River, blocks from Naga World and halfway between the night market (and expat restaurants) and the AEON mall. The staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms are large and well appointed. The free breakfast had both Asian and American choices. We had an excellent event in the event hall and were amazed by the food they delivered. The hotel was a perfect blend for business with plenty of room for the family at an affordable price.
Stayed at Himawari Hotel from October 1 through October 6. Instead of staying at a high end International Western hotel like Sofitel, we chose Himawari because it had a more local Cambodian atmosphere and was located right on the river. The room/apartments were spacious and comfortable. The free Wifi were a bit of a challenge because it required individual room routers with passwords. Move to the lobby? New password. In the restaurant? Another password. But this inconvenience was really the only problem. Staff was friendly and very responsive. Breakfast buffet was HUGE. One caveat--my wife had a "facial" at the spa and it was....laughable. A few wet tissues on the face--ten minutes. $19--thank you very much. Somebody should tell them how a facial should be done--and how long it should take. (something tells me they were just informed!).The blessed air conditioning was always working and effective. The view from the balcony on the river side was an added plus. I would welcome another opportunity to stay at Himawari when I return.
This was the first hotel experience in Cambodia. Friendly staff and nice hotel. Lots of good options for breakfast. Good location for the palace. Restaurants are little bit of a walk. I got a nice large room with a view. I found it hard to communicate what I was after with staff as much as they liked to help I struggled. Also they do not help book tours for you, best they can do is organise a driver. Considering some of the other much cheaper places I've stayed in Cambodia offer more services, this hotel wasn't worth the cost. Solid 3 stars though.
Recently had an overnight stay at this Appartments hotel. The room was large and had small kitchen. My room overlooked the hotel workshops so was a bit noisy until they stopped work. Great location for a morning/evening walk on the promenade and within walking distance of other tourist sights. Service from all staff was excellent. This hotel would be ideal for a longer stay.
I visited again Phnom Penh and stayed, as usual at Himawari. I would like to thank Mr. Heng for his flexibility during my stay. As I am on a budget visit, he was able to offer an upgrade, plus, plus and add a little only, to accommodate my husband and my sister-in-law. Thank you for the hospitality extended to us. We had a wonderful stay at Hamawari. My sister-in-law is a first-timer in Cambodia and experienced the warm welcome and hospitality of Himawari staff. She is always saying nice things about her experiences with the Hotel on our way back to Manila. I have experienced again the warm welcome, although I noticed that there are new staff/employee, but still the same courtesy and accommodation were provided to me and to my family. They responded to our requests/needs very promptly. We also enjoyed the food at breakfast, with the Oyster restaurant employees attended nicely and efficiently to our needs. I also visited the business center and attended very well by the staff. I hope to see them again in my next visit to Phnom Penh in December. Himawari staff, pls continue hospitality and courtesy to your guests, like us, we value very much this kind of treatment. Thank you! - Tet Ortega
My mum and myself had a wonderful stay at Himawari. All the staff are very polite and hospitable. We would definitely return to stay there again in future. Great service from the staff from welcoming us, checking in to checking out. The food is great, portion big and excellent quality too.
