Bluegreen Vacations Mountain Run at Boyne, an Ascend Resort3.0 out of 5.0

Whether you want to explore or relax in your villa and stay in, Mountain Run at Boyne is a great resort. We had a 2 bedroom villa (building 14) that was right on the slopes. The fireplace was perfect and warmed the villa well, the kitchen had everything you need. Beds were very comfortable and the entire place was clean. Two balconies to enjoy the piece and quiet and a jet tub. Everything is up to date and you don't feel like you are stepping into the 70s one bit (granted I love the 70s). Plus a laundry unit as well (who doesn't love to have laundry to do once you get home from vacation?). Mountain Run is a great central location to do all the exploring there is to do in the area, from Charlevoix to Petoskey and beyond, you are within 30 minutes or less of those to central towns. Mackinaw Bridge is an hour away. Plus you have Boyne Mountain resort right next door and you are able to enjoy all that they offer, a hayride, camp fire, family movies, it's all right there. And to top it all off Avalanche Bay (indoor water park) is at Boyne Mountain too, the kids will love it. A shuttle takes you over to all these great activities at Boyne Mountain. One tip if you get pizza don't get it at Boyne Mountain, get it from Nico's a 3 minute drive in Boyne Falls. Or they can deliver as well. The customer service is great, everyone was friendly, they asked all our questions and helped us find some great things in the area and also some great discounts as well (we all love discounts). Plus if you go to a timeshare meeting (1 hour max) they'll give you water park tickets or a visa gift card (1 hour is worth the value). If I were to give it one critic, the walls are probably a little thin, but I've had way worse. And there is no indoor swimming pool (so winters your only option is the water park), but there is an indoor hot tub. All in all, we can't wait to go back again, anytime of season.
Had some timeshare points to squander and decided to spend a cold snowy week here. As typical of Bluegreen facilities, very nice. Second floor one bedroom villa was well laid out. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Will be back in other seasons. Highly recommended.
The location is good and the rooms are ok. We also had a great internet connection, unlike some of the other reviews. I didn't even mind the obligatory sales pitch. When we turned down the incredible deal," they let us go pretty quickly with a $100 gift card as a fond farewell. What bothered me was how far in advance we had to book (~13 months) and the feeling of overall just less than clean. The curtains were musty. The stairs to our condo were dirty and had cobwebs. The condo itself just didn't feel completely clean, like the cleaning person rushed through at the end of their shift. I have read reviews of other bluegreen resorts that indicate something similar, which is why we ultimately declined the incredible deal. Next time I visit Boyne, I will likely stay somewhere else. On other positives, the views are great, you can rent DVDs at the front, and the Boyne Mountain resort has a lot of good activities like smores and a wagon ride. You have to pay extra for Avalanche Bay, however, if not staying at the Grand Lodge. You are also close to Petoskey and Mackinac. East Jordan also has a freedom festival for the fourth of July.
We booked here because we got a great deal on a 3 bedroom condo for 4 adults and 4 children. We were planning to visit the Petoskey, MI area. What we didn't realize was that this resort had all kinds of things to do! S'more cook outs, free chair lift rides up the mountain, even a lake with free kayak rentals. Deer lake just down the road was absolutely beautiful! The beach was very relaxing and groomed. It was such a pity that it was rainy the 3 August days were were here! We traveled from Idaho, but I wish we lived closer because I would go to this resort on a regular basis. Nice pool and hot tub, clean rooms, friendly help, nicely kept property.
This was our first time at a Bluegreen resort although we are timeshare owners. We had a two bedroom unit and it faced the woods which was a very quiet area and relaxing. Our unit was beautiful and very well maintained. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We could schedule our cleaning date at anytime and the staff were exceptional. We had the use of a beautiful pool at Boyd Mountain Resort, although we did not use it. There is a great water park here, too and families seem to really enjoy it. We traveled to Traverse City, about an hour away and also visited many area wineries - 30-60 minutes away. We also visited Lake Charlevoix which we always love to visit, catch a bite to eat and shop. We also visited Petosky twice - shopping, great restaurants and happy hour. First time we did the Lavender Farm, the Tunnel of Trees, Harbor Springs and Walloon Lake - all lovely lake villages with things to do and see. And don't forget Elk Rapids, another lovely lakeside village!
We just returned from spending five nights at these beautiful condo's with our Son and Daughter in Law along with our two granddaughters. Everything was just perfect and ready for us on our arrival. In fact we were given a suite. One was a one bedroom unit and the other was a two bedroom and we were connected by a nice foyer with was so lovely. All in all I highly recommend this Resort for anyone looking for a great family vacation in upper Michigan. Which to me is one of the most fabulous places in our whole Country...
We stayed from July 21-23, the location was nice, very quiet. We were given accommodation in building 15, it was nice very roomy, kitchen has everything you need, clean rooms. The only thing I don't like which is pretty sure they need to pay attention with this concern because it's disgusting. I can't sit on the living room set, it's very old and stinks it needs replacement.
Stayed July 2017, family of four, building 23 on the 2nd floor. Our kids loved the free hot chocolate and the free movies! What a huge selection. Our home resort could learn from both of these points -free movies, coffe, tea, hot chocolate 24/7 at the reception area. The onsite wifi was super fast and the signal was everywhere, the kids loved it. Great TV stations, but need more than one dvd player in the units. We only received two dish washer soap cubes and a 1/2 roll of paper towels but I'm sure if we asked we could have had more, but we had our own. The entire facility was kept clean and the propane bbq's were always available and cooked evenly. They offered free mid week cleaning, very nice. Kids loved the rockin' music at the pool and change rooms, we spent a few afternoons lounging. Loved the free chair lift rides This resort needs a web site make over because they do not promote enough of the great things to do here. The on site beach (5 minute drive), the little ski resort village right next door with a couple little bars and restaurants, an arcade, live music, a motorcycle show and you get free access to it all because they 'share' facilities. The Avalanche water park would maybe be ok for younger ones, but my kids are used to mega water parks such as can be found in Niagara Falls Ontario so we didn't spend the money. The staff were super friendly. Mackinac island is a must do, we took the cheaper $19 ferry (40 minutes one way) and loved it. The tubing down the Sturgeon river is awesome ($14 each). Everything else in the area is frightfully expensive i.e. $54 for two hours of horse back riding, and then there is the very sad zip line next door at the ski resort that is very expensive but it was well used. They should have bike racks on the property and also over at the ski resort but we just locked ours up on the lawn so no problem. Anyway no real complaints, this resort was great, we had a blast and filled the week.
Nice room with quiet neighbors. We ran around the region mainly and didn't use the pool or partake in the resort entertainment. Bed was nice. I'd like to return in the the spring, fall, and winter. My view from our balcony.
