As the title asks - because that's what happened to us! They let out a room where the toilet didn't flush! How can that happen?Really poor - certainly not 4 star or anywhere near to it. No communication with requests between staff, told to book restaurant ourselves when we requested reception to do it - we didn't, we ate elsewhere. Hotel living in the past. Peeling paintwork, shabby carpets.
Visited on 2nd Dec to 3rd Dec for our wedding anniversary. Lovely reception staff. Had evening meal in Huntley restaurant and the food and service was great. Visited the pub next door for lunch and again lovely food. Nice surroundings too and rooms decent too. There was no noise in the hotel either. Now brings me onto sadly the reason why we will not return. Was told at time of booking that we could have use of the spa facilities on both days ( as every other spa hotel does we've been to) feel really cheated we saved our relaxing day for the Sunday for massage and the use of pool etc. Only to find we couldn't do this as the rules had changed and if we wanted to use facilities after treatment we had to pay another £30 each? What a disappointment!!! We thought we had found our place as we go to a spa every anniversary. Even when I complained at reception nothing changed. Be warned peeps you won't get the deal you agreed at booking and would advise get it In writing. Shame and spoilt things for us 🙄
Helpful and friendly staff who try to accommodate all requests. Noise can be an issue with doors slamming, and some rooms need an overhaul. However, very convenient for city centre in a quiet location.
A lovely old building which should house a wonderful atmospheric hotel. On arrival I was greeted by a fast talking overly slick disinterested female. She reeled off all the details and was just not warm and welcoming. The room service order was wrong on the first night and nothing really improved. The service at the carvery in the bar restaurant was just awful. Slow and ill mannered. When I queried it was told that the chef 'had other things to do in the kitchen'. Not impressed. If a carvery is offered then the chef needs to be there to carve and nothing should be more important than a customer. We spoke to the manager who said he was new and would deal with it. The meal that went wrong was refunded but I really do get very fed up with there always being something wrong!
Had a single night here whilst traveling on business. I had a requirement for a Ground Floor room with easy access to my car. All of this was sorted out with the minimum of fuss allowing me to sample the delights of the Pub menu and the Gin selection! Cant praise this place enough.
we have stayed here 4 times now and have never been disappointed. Good for football trips in east anglia or the bedfordshire area. a bit pricey but the rooms are spacious and clean. there is also a pool and gym. the huntly restaurant is posh nosh good quality. 2 miles from centre so easy to walk direct or along the river (45mins)
Stayed here 1 night for a work meeting. Room was very dated, bathroom needs refurb. Breakfast bland and certainly not worth the extra £15 I was charged - shocking that there was no butter, only margarine ( Peterborough being in the heart of the agricultural community) At checkout no-one asked if my room was ok or if I enjoyed my stay etc. Poor service, poor value. Shame as it's a lovely old building in parts.
Staff were so kind and helpful. The spa treatments were so relaxing. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. The room had a huge 4 poster bed, extremely comfortable and the whole room was so spacious and clean. Can't wait to go back. Was just the place to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Listen don’t get me wrong this place is clean and the staff courteous but my god it’s been frozen in 1982. The restaurant is empty, never seen anyone else in my three visits in there and there’s more glasses and cutlery per table than I’ve ever seen. Rooms are spacious but again dated... I mean who has pine furniture anymore?
I have stayed at this hotel on my several trip to Peterborough. The Best Western has it all with friendly staff, very updated facilty, great breakfasts etc etc. It is in the heart of the city and located in a very scenic area next to the river. I have never been disappointed.
