My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for a week. What a beautiful place. The views are breathtaking. We stayed in a suite. The room was spacious, had a terrace, very comfy bed. It is at the top of a mountain. You drive 7.5 minutes up a very winding road to get there. Countryside filled with vineyards and olive groves. We took part in a cooking class: made pasta, a timbale, and Tiramisu. Yum! Our package included breakfast, which included scrambled eggs, cereal, yogurt and pastries. The dinner menu had four sections: antipasti, first course (pasta), second course (meat & veggies), and dessert. There were 3-4 options in each section. We could choose 3 of the 4 for $25. Great deal! The food was delicious. The veggies were a bit overcooked, but maybe that's how they eat them there. There were even noches out in the bar before dinner. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. Luigi, the maitre d', Gennaro, Claudio, Elisa, and Rosa took excellent care of us in the dining room. They were all very kind and patient. Being in Umbria, this was within a couple of hours of many sites. We went to Torgiano, Assisi, Florence, Perugia, and Orvieto. We had a great time and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Italy. The hotel closes in November and reopens in the spring.
We got to live in a castle for a week! I traveled with my husband, my sister and her husband. The rooms were decorated beautifully, and were cool, quiet, and dark at night, making for excellent restful sleep. The staff was amazing. Luigi, in the restaurant, was funny, charming, and very helpful keeping me comfortable with my gluten allergy. The food was outstanding, if a bit expensive. Of course, free breakfast is a huge plus, and it was certainly plentiful. Outside of one rather grouchy woman behind the front desk, everyone was smiling and helpful. The views are spectacular and there is a great patio area to watch the sunset. I'm not sure what it would be like to be there without a car. We did trips to many wonderful places each day - Assisi, of course, which is only about half an hour away, but also to Orvieto (highly recomend) Perugia (parking is IMPOSSIBLE!) and to lovely Florence, (about two hours away by car. Don't go on Monday because the museums are closed.) Downsides - internet was spotty (my sister did not have it in her room, but we did), the showers seem to universally flood the bathrooms and its a little tough to get any extra towels so there was often some water to deal with. All in all, a really wonderful trip.
From the check-in to checkout we found this hotel resort area wonderful. We have ZERO negative comments. We stayed in an apartment which was very nice and comfortable with excellent cleaning service. The patio and over looking pool were very attractive and usable. The food in the area was disappointing but I think it is just the local cuisine being so bland and not typical of fine Italian dining. The free local wine tasting was an attractive addition. The hotel bar area was a friendly gathering area. I would recommend a rental a car for your own travels. The hotel service seemed expensive but we did not use it. We took daily trips to the surrounding towns and lake. Assisi, Perugia and Orvieto were most interesting. The cascade water fall were a little further but worth the drive. There is a second restaurant a short walk down the hill which was good and more reasonably priced. Unfortunately the same type of cuisine. I would definitely stay there again and recommend the hotel to travelers. We did not make use of the Spa services but on inspection they seemed well appointed.
My husband and I booked this thru Travelzoo for my birthday. We rented a car and made our way up into the mountains of Umbria. Absolutely stunning!! The staff is great with wonderful touring suggestions. Luigi was awesome as we took a cooking class with him and Giuseppe and then a wine tasting at Baldassari Vineyards which was a great tour. The breakfast is very good and all meals are prepared so well. The spa is lovely and we enjoyed our massages. The bed is quite firm but comfortable. I would have preferred a room with a better view though. They have 2 very nice pools for relaxing. Definitely recommend a stay at this wonderful hotel.
We absolutely loved our stay, the staff was outstanding especially Luigi. We felt transported into another world, very relaxing and absolutely stunning scenery. Took Day trips to Assisi, Todi, Orvieto, Perugia, and Sienna. Breakfast was good especially all the cakes and pastries. Coffee was delicious. Food in the hotel was excellent but we ventured out after a few nights to other places. Bar and terrace were great to hang out at the end of the night to wind down. Beds were extremely firm and pillows not so fluffy, but that is typical in Europe. The view from our balcony was stunning.
We loved this hotel which was beautifully located in the Umbrian hills. We hired a car so that we could explore the area at our leisure and we visited Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto and Lake Trasimeno where we took a boat over to Isola Polvese which was delightful. The food at the hotel was excellent and the staff very friendly. It was lovely to have a cool dip in the pool after a day of exploring and then sit on the terrace over dinner, enjoying the delicious food and admiring the gorgeous sunsets.
My mother an I got this deal through Travel Zoo and it turned into a fantastic trip! One whole week looking at the beautiful mountains and skies overlooking many olive trees. We ended up with a suite as all the superior rooms were filled (which suited us nicely). It is a bit of a walk from the main hotel area but who couldn't use a good walk about after a marvelous 3 course dinner. The rooms was clean and cleaned daily (if we chose). The staff - amazing. Luigi, Elisa, Claudio, Gennaro, Rosa, all of the front desk help and behind the scenes (cleaning/kitchen/spa) really go above and beyond to make this your home away from home. Located literally on a mountain, overlooking the Umbrian landscapes, the sunsets are perfect to watch from the hotel balcony. Have a drink from the bar and unwind from a leisure day in the spa or a busy day out and about. The hotel is perfectly located for easy day trips, as well. We went into Assisi, Deruta, Orvieto, Florence, Perugia, and took a couple nice drives about. If you wish, they offer some day trip tours to some of the local cities, cooking class, and wine tour. Or, if you chose to stay in, they offer massages and have a Turkish bath, jacuzzi, and sauna. Very accommodating to what you are wanting to achieve with your stay there. I highly recommend this hotel and wouldn't mind to go back again. My mother had a fantastic time as well and we hope to make these trips more often.
We had a very enjoyable time in this hotel the staff were very friendly and helpful, the setting stunning and the food was very good to excellent throughout our time there. I agree that you need a car to explore the area as the excursions are expensive and it is fairly easy to get to lovely hilltop towns locally. The breakfasts were the least exciting meals but still there was a wide choice and the view was exquisite. The evening meals were served in three courses with a very wide choice and we enjoyed the cookery course very much especially the home made fresh pasta with truffle oil.
If you're after total immersion in the Umbrian landscape then look no further. The team will make you feel very welcome and the modern facilities may be a pleasant surprise. The food is good with lots of local produce on offer. If you are easily bored you'll need a car.
We stayed at this lovely hotel for a week with it's beautiful views over the Umbrian countryside. We had an apartment which was amazing right by the pool, the only problem we had was opening the sliding French doors think they need looking at we did tell the receptionist but I don't think she understood what we were saying. We booked this bargain holiday through Fleetway Travel as did a lot of the guests here we had full board and the choices from the menu was excellent, the breakfast was adequate a choice of cooked eggs would have been nice instead of the dried up scrambled egg every morning but there was enough choice. All the staff were pleasant and helpful but a special thank you must go to Luigi the Maitre D, always cheeky and was great fun when he took us to the wine tasting which is well worth going to. We flew into Perugia airport which is only half an hour away and hired a car which we would recommend it if you want to explore all the little villages. Take a good satnav with you it's very helpful in finding the hotel which is remote only one road in and out. We thoroughly enjoyed our week we met some lovely people.
