Hotel Relais Ducale

We stayed in July 2017, end of July, and we had a wonderful stay at the Relais Ducale. The owner welcomed us warmly and the staff were very helpful. The good thing about the hotel's location is the access to the Piazza Grande overlooking Gubbio. Early evening, we sat at the terrace next to the Piazza Grande and enjoyed a lovely aperitif. The rooms are unique and walking up to the rooms you can't overlook the antique furnitures which makes it all so more exceptional. Breakfast was divine and after staying at the hotel for two nights, we will definitely head back in the near future.

You simply cannot have a better location in the city as the hotel is situated next to Palazzo dei Consoli, one of the most interesting historical sites. The rooms are spacious, there is a splendid room for "reflection" next to the reception, beautifully furnished, all the staff most helpful and attentive and breakfast decent. Moreover, if you come by car, you can park briefly to unload the luggage and them have a free parking nearby. There is also a lovely terrace right next to the reception on the second floor where you can dine, have drinks and coffee..

This is a rambling hotel with rooms and terrace gardens on several levels, which is entirely in keeping with the layout of the town - not surprising, as it's a conversion of several old buildings (make sure to explore the secret passages). We loved the barrel-vaulted room we occupied, which was both comfortable (a/c, mini-bar, tea-making tray which is far from universal in Italian hotels) and characterful, and the gardens above the main piazza were a delight. I am not a good sleeper, but was not bothered at all by the bell tower which some reviewers mentioned, so it probably depends on your room. Breakfast and bar were both good, and the staff were without exception friendly and helpful (thanks also to Dora the parrot).

Excellent location, but very small and under-equipped room, quite a convoluted architecture, low quality breakfast with acceptable price level. Not a good deal anyway, there's better around, I guess. Good for one night, not for a long stay

This hotel is Gubbio at it's best. Very nice and spacious rooms (with air conditioning) and the views from the windows are absolutely breathtaking. We stayed on the 3rd floor and it has a rooftop garden that is beautiful and serene. The bathrooms were large with large showers. Breakfast was included and was typical Italian breakfast with many choices of breads, meats, cheese, yogurts, fruit, etc. The bar has a good inventory and excellent choices for Prossecco. We stayed for several days and will return. There is parking at the top of the mountain and underground, it is free. Driving is a little crazy in this tiny town, but it is to be expected.

Friendly greeting in a hotel that was probably refurbished 30 years ago! Facilities ok, but need upgrading. Wonderful position in town and fabulous terraced garden. I should imagine this was a fantastic hotel in the 1980's

My husband and I stayed for one night on our recent first visit to Gubbio this past Christmas. Spectacular! Daniela, Sean, and everyone there were so pleasant and helpful. Even little Nala...though a bit shy. We wish we could have stayed a few more nights. Seeing the giant Christmas tree lit on the mountain, the funivia ride, Basilica de S. Ubaldo (gorgeous stained glass), sunset, and the life-size Presepe .... all amazing! Thanks for a great visit. We hope to return some day.

Not our first stay here--we love it and we'd come back again. The staff is incredibly friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. The location is superb, near many of the places you'll want to visit, including the funicular taking you up to San Umberto if you're adventurous. There's no onsite parking, but free parking areas are not too far away.

Another wonderful stay at Relais Ducale with great hospitality and assistance from the staff. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast very generous. The central location is perfect for wandering the ancient city.

Its location overlooking the main square is wonderful - people make their way up to the Piazza Grande for the view alone, so to be staying right there is a treat. The hotel building has great charm, with two lovely gardens in which to enjoy a rest or a drink. We had a nice big room, with good natural light and a garden view. All the staff are exceptionally helpful, pleasant and obliging. The price we paid was very reasonable for the quality of the hotel and the pleasure it gave us.
