Hotel Fortuna3.0 out of 5.0

We were quite excited about our trip to Perusia and the Umbria region and had heard good things about the Hotel Fortuna. It's too bad nobody gave us the heads up, including the hotel itself, that we shouldn't attempt to find it by car -or park close- as it's more than 100 meters down an alley. Long story short there's no place close to the hotel to park and unload and the only parking is at a public garage about 6 blocks away. There are 4 escalators and 5 sets of steps between the parking garage and hotel. Unless you have a butler, avoid this hotel at all costs if you have a rental car.
It is a very beautiful building in the old city, close to everything. The room and the bathroom were very clean. The heating was more than ok and the space of the room was average. Not enough light though cause the buildings are too close to each other. Breakfast is average but it has all the basic to get your day started. The staff s very friendly and they will provide info on everything you might need. My personal downside i that it doesn't have room service or a restaurant, which might seem silly but remember that the restaurants in Italy close from 2:30 till 7-7:30. So if you arrive late or miss lunch, you have a problem that you can cover only with panini's.
Lovely little boutique-esque hotel. Great location just off main medieval street in the old town. About €30 taxi fare top airport. Friendly staff - extremely knowledgeable about local restaurants - go with what they say. Nice detail was the frescoed reading room on level three.
Sneeze and you would miss this little gem located up a very narrow lane. The hotel is 300 years old but well maintained and only a couple of minutes from the main town square. It is a no frills basic little honest 3 star, no tea/coffee in room but clean and comfortable. We couldn't locate an english language channel on the T.V but not a big deal. Breakfast was very good in the Continental style. Good value.
Our party of two couples had only one night in Perugia, where we found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room, although not large, had all we needed, and breakfast included a good selection of fresh food. It was worth staying at the hotel just to experience the building. The staff recommended the nearby Ristorante Altromondo, where we found the food to be exceptional at a very reasonable price, and with very friendly staff. We would all happily return to both the hotel and the restaurant.
Close to all the festivities, right at the center . The staff are friendly and helpful, room was very clean and quiet, nice view at the terrace, the breakfast is good lots of selection and great coffee maker. Also short distance to walk to the escalator to go down to the bus stop if you're planning to go to Assisi. There is a great Cafe near by called Cafe Bunnoni which serves porchetta with truffles, which I think only serves on weekends. The bed is super hard and the door to the bathroom squeaks , but not bad for 3 night stay.
This hotel is well located just off the busy historic center. It is more on the "classic" side that modern. Breakfast was OK and room was on 5th floor. Elevator (small) only went to the 4th and we had to schlep out luggage up two flights of stairs. The room itself was medium sized, and has a HVAC that worked well. The bath was adequate and the best feature was a patio the overlooked much of the city and surrounding country side. This feature made up for the aforementioned negatives. Internet connectivity was good and the location made walking to the center square easy. There was a chocolate festival going on and things were fairly lively but our room remained quiet.
Very nice hotel if you are looking for traveling by yourself or in couple. Restaurants and pubs nearby. Excellent location (centre of Perugia), friendly staff and good breakfast (the chocolate was very good and the staff very welcoming)! Room very clean. Recommended
Loved this hotel for it's character, position and attentive staff. Hated the tiny lift and all the stairs! Spectacular breakfast room, reading room and rooftop terrace. A welcome retreat from the frenzied crowds visiting the Chocolate Festival. Will choose a different date to to visit next time!
We've stayed at Hotel Fortuna on 5 separate trips to Italy, the latest trip for 4 days. We really enjoy the hospitality, the ample breakfast, and the friendly staff. It's quiet, yet just a couple of blocks from the center of town and all of its attractions and restaurants. We also enjoy the terraces and library for relaxing after a long day of walking. Highly recommended!!!
