Esplanade Hotel Fremantle - by Rydges

Spent 5 nights here on our recent visit to WA & this was our 3rd stay here. The Esplanade is one of the best positioned hotels for access to views, transport, food outlets, shopping precincts, cruise departure point & tourist venues that I have come across. Their staff are very friendly & attentive & are quick to recognise you on return visits, which gives the place a more 'homely' natural feel. Reception & Valet parking staff were exceptional & made us feel very welcome. A range of restaurant areas to eat in & the food was reasonably priced & well presented. Used the gym on one morning & whilst small, it had all the necessary equipment & for those wishing to hire bicycles, they are available right outside the front door. We had reserved a King Spa suite overlooking the pool & the room was well appointed, with a King sized bed(very comfortable), Aircon, balcony with chairs, inside table & 2 chairs, Large screen TV, free WIFI access, Radio, Room Safe, Blackout curtains, pillow menu & Tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was large & clean, but not the best designed layout. The shower stall leaked onto the bathroom floor during every use (due to the bad sealant job between the shower walls & floor) & the bath mat could not be placed outside the shower door as it would prevent the door from opening. Additionally, there was nowhere close to the shower to hang a towel within easy reach (ie a hook on the back of the bathroom door would be nice). Also needed to ensure that the bathroom door was closed whilst showering to prevent the smoke alarm from triggering (perhaps the smoke alarm placement is wrong!) The spa bath was very nice, but not very practical. Although it looks large, it is really difficult for more than one person at a time to use & there is nowhere to sit comfortably in it. Bathroom could also use lighting that can be dimmed for night use, as it was far too bright in the middle of the night. However, despite these minor bathroom drawbacks, overall, this hotel is better than most & we will certainly return on future occasions.

We enjoyed our stay, efficient friendly staff. We had an upgrade at a discounted price which was really special. A welcome drink at the bar that had a really nice atmosphere. over all a great couple of days in a great location for exploring Fremantle

My wife and I stayed here twice in July 2017 for 3 nights each. We found the staff at the hotel to be friendly and chatty. The room we had for the first stay was on the top floor and we experienced some wet weather whilst there. I am pretty sure that there was a leak in the roofing causing a dripping sound through the nights whilst raining. This was mentioned to the front desk when we checked out. The location of the hotel is great, very close to the beach, Fremantle market and the Cappucino Strip with all its restaurants. The buffet breakfast was expensive for what was on offer, but then Perth/Fremantle are expensive cities. On the whole we found the hotel to be clean and comfortable and will stay there again.

Have stayed here for 6 nights for conference/holiday. The hotel has good beds and comfy rooms. There is an eco option where they don't clean the room in exchange for $10 off food at the hotel. Does not apply to in-room service though. The place is a bit tired and in need if refurbishment. Carpets are buckled and worn - clearly had a water leak at some stage or flooding. Reception staff are both polite and frosty depending in which one you get. Concierges Kylie and Nic are great - going out of their way to help. Little niggly things like free drink card to offset some misinformation could not be used for a Baileys on ice - hardly top shelf. So all in all OK but not top shelf itself.

Once upon a time this hotel would have been awesome. But it is tired and well overpriced. My room was a pool view double. Like the Pentagon it takes for ever to get anywhere - about 5 mins (ok exaggeration- maybe 3) to walk to the lifts (which are super slow as well). The room was very old. Only one working power point. Iron was spitting out water salts. Bathroom very tired. I'd stay elsewhere next time.

Nice pretty facade. Comfortable stay. Spacious room. But it is the little things that count. Comparing to other hotels I have stayed in overseas and even in Melbourne, this hotel seems petty on the little things. eg. wifi. They give you only 1GB of data per day on the wifi. Then they cut you off. But there is a loop hole. You can reset the data back to 1GB if you re register after the 1GB is used up. I find this irritating and petty.. Somehow, the counter seems to go down too fast! Something strange. I do not stream video. My devices just backs up photos only... and they do not consume 1GB in 10 mins! Also, many hotels give free 2 bottles of mineral water as a courtesy. Here they charge $4 a bottle and $6 for 2. Again petty. Overall these little things just makes a difference for me.

I booked the room with 1 single and 1 large double bed as I had 3 persons. There is a kids playground in the park right across the road of the hotel. An outdoor cafe in the park served food n drinks. Within 5 minutes walk is all the popular beachfront seafood restaurants n a Baskin Robbins outlet too! There was also a Western Australia Shipwreck Museum nearby which did not charge and instead allowed entry by donation. The Freemantle Market was also just a quick 3 minute walk down the road. Would highly recommend staying here if travelling with children and want convenience. The only annoying thing was the free wifi kept logging out automatically after 1GB and you had to keep reconnecting again.

We booked this hotel on Luxury Escapes and as we were taking a cruise from Fremantle pier we jumped at the chance to stay here ...the Hotel itself is well maintained and very clean and well staffed ...we enjoyed our stay there and have to thank Jasmine she was amazing to deal with also Dasni ,Vaibs Nish the breakfast in the Atrium was to die for and all the amazing people who made our stay the best ...would definatly stay there again ....

We were guest speakers at a management meeting in one of the massive board rooms. I was surprised at the size of the hotel inside. Very spacious with lots of little areas to sit or eat and drink. It was all very bright and airy and had a great theme running throughout the entire complex. The bar was a little slow on the service side, and they told us none of the outdoor heaters were working which was a real shame. The valet gave us free parking as we were part of a conference, but I can't say if that's standard or we just got lucky. Location is perfect and is surrounded by all the life Freo has to offer, which is great for people watching! At 4am I decided I'd stay the night and waited probably 15 mins for the reception to work out the check in process. He also challenged me when I quoted an online rate, which I thought was quite rude as it's clearly on a booming site, but at that time of the morning I couldn't be bothered arguing! Upon checkout (11am👍) there was no one at the desk or the valet. I waited around and eventually a lady came and checked me out. Then I couldn't find a valet person so it actually took 30 mins to get the whole checkout and leave procedure completed. Overall..... Great hotel.

Regularly stay if in area big hotel good bar area parking reasonable valet charges & close to all restaurant areas & fremantle shopping or beaches. Rooms in hotel a bit dated but $156 for room last long weekend Sat night is cheaper than most & clean & comfortable & most of all central, park car & don't need it again
