We booked the Wantilan Suite mit Ocean View for 5 days of our honeymoon. At a price of around 400 dollars per night one would expect a certain standard. After a rather less than efficient check-in, we were offered a welcome drink by the pool, which was nice but after a long flight we would have preferred to go to our room instead. Although we informed the staff right finishing the drink, they let us wait for quite some time before bringing us to our room. The first thing we noticed is that while there was a view of the ocean, right under us was a trash dump and a scooter parking area. When we returned in the evening after dinner we entered our room to discover there was a disco or bar nearby blasting music so loud that we could have danced to it in our own room. Not the kind of environment to be able to fall asleep in. After complaining at the reception about it, we were moved to a bigger suite for the night. On the next day, we were eventually moved to a room further back where it was somewhat quieter. For a hotel of this standard, you would expect that after having to change room twice, they would at least offer you a drink or some kind of gesture. It left us with the feeling, that the management is more keen on making money than making their guests happy. Furthermore, we were told by management that no one has ever complained about the issue with the first room before but looking at other reviews, one can clearly see that that wasn’t the truth. The staff are lovely and strive to be helpful but it's obvious that they lack any organisation from the management. Drinks orders take about 30 min to get to you, and food orders even longer. The food in the restauraunt wasn’t bad, but not necessarily better than any of the surrounding restaurants, just three times the price. One another annoying thing is that at breakfast, cappuccino or espresso is charged extra. That’s fine in a three star airport hotel, but not somewhere that claims to be a luxury resort. The grounds are beautiful but at times poorly maintained. By the pool there were loose boards with rusty nails sticking out. On one day we ordered drinks by the pool and even two days after our glasses were still there. Our room had access to a separate pool area, which was very quiet and usually not crowded. We were talking to some girls who were about to leave the pool, who told us, that they were not even staying at the hotel, but managed to sneak in from the scooter parking spot at the side of the road. So obviously the hotel has an issue with security. In summary, the main pool and the area around it are very nice and the view is stunning but as a luxury resort, there are many issues where this resort falls short. It surely is a good place to enjoy the sunsets. We do feel however, that in this part of the world there are countless better hotels that cost about half the price. We most likely wouldn’t return.
This resort has truly captured the art of Bali. Whilst maintaining the culture and atmosphere of true Balinese architecture and the use of natural wood and stone sourced from around Bali, this resort is simply beautiful. Situated on the cliffs of Uluwatu you have to sit at sunset daily and watch the horizon as the sun sets and incredible drinks are served. The service is impeccable. The restaurant Dugong also captured the true spirit of Balinese food with fresh produce and delicate flavours. Simply wonderful and incredibly well thought out in design and experience for the traveller looking to appreciate the art and culture of Bali.
My boyfriend and I stayed recently for two nights, we were greeted on arrival by Liz who was extremely friendly and helpful regarding the special considerations of the hotel, eg) using WhatsApp for assistance (very easy!), the eco-friendly aircon over the bed (never slept better!) and the general area. What was the most amazing part though was the incredibly special effort made for my boyfriend who actually proposed whilst we were there! They were so thoughtful in helping Adam with extra touches such as flowers... but all the staff in the day following came up and congratulated us and showed such genuine care! We really felt special and were very grateful. The view from the restaurant pool are is STUNNING too This hotel is exceptional and very special, we'll be coming back :)
We recently staying in the Jurang 2 br Villa with a family of 4. To start with the resort is one of the most beautiful I have seen with amazing architecture, pools and of course the view The Villa is very high end fit out with a large pool with an incredible view of the famous Pedang break which was in fine form during our stay. We really enjoyed the food at the restaurant. After staying in a large resort at Nusa Dua we personally loved the small but lovely buffet. Lunch and dinner were also outstanding with a great range of cocktails. I thoroughly recommend the G&T which is served with peppercorns which add a great flavour. The monkeys are a pest and you should really avoid leaving personal items outside. We came home one morning to a monkey trying to open a jar of vegemite after destroying some sunscreen. All in all great barefoot luxury vibe.
Selected this resort for the last leg of our 2 weeks trip on Bali. The resort is beautiful but we had issues with service. We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa (~$700 USD per nights) one night the power went out while we were showering before dinner (most of us were showing in the outdoor showers so it was a little scary). The power stayed out until late in the night and the internet was out all day. The lights in our bathroom didn’t work and weren’t fixed until our last day (despite several asks to resolve at the front desk). Considering how much we paid per night and the reputation of the hotel, we expected to receive some compensation for the inconvenience. After a lot of asking, the hotel manager offered to take a couple of meals off of our bill (~$75 USD) and a room to shower in before our flight since we had a midnight flight and a 12pm check out. We asked a few local taxi drivers and they informed us that the power goes out a lot in this hotel because they don’t have a generator. We did think the grounds were beautiful and most of the staff were incredibly nice, although the service was pretty slow in the restaurant and bar. We primarily communicated with the staff through What’s App and they did go out of there way to arrange transportation for us to and from restaurants even after we checked out. There are a lot of monkeys on the hotel grounds! Although we thought it was cool at first, some of them can be a little aggressive. On our last day a monkey approached us at the pool and took our drinks — the hotel staff had to scare them away.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Monkeys came into our bathroom they do not have roof, which means that the monkeys that are everywhere enter easily. They Took and destroyed our personal belongings. We had to bought toothpaste and toothbrush, because the only offering that the hotel manager Luisa, told us was a “late check out”. After complaining, she offered lunch but the food at the hotel was not tasty at all. After many complaining emails she offered 1 free night which is not half the price of the damages belongings. Think twice before staying here. There are nicest and better hotels in the same area. Food is tasteless The breakfast has not variety. The juices are full of sugar.
We spent 3 nights at Suarga, having stayed in Seminyak for the previous 4 nights. The slower pace of the Uluwatu area is a perfect way to unwind before heading home. The check-in procedure was good and whilst waiting for our room we received a complimentary drink, and ended up having lunch as well (we paid). We stayed in Ulin 9 and it was as described on their website - partial ocean views and close to second pool at the resort. Air Con. system above the bed works well and is very easy to control. The fridge is very small and only has the capacity to hold around 6 drinks. It doesn't keep things very cold and the only way to do this is open the cupboard door so more air circulated around the fridge. Both pools are a good size in length (est. 20m), so if you feel like doing a few laps you can. Drinks are pricey, but when you can sip away and take in the view at the same time it's worth it. We ate Breakfast at the restaurant every day (included), and had dinner there on 2 occasions. All meals were very good (Crispy Prawns for entree are fantastic). Meals may seem a bit expensive, but when coming from Seminyak and paying $10 Aussie for a good size main your price sensors may be a bit clouded. Our departing flight was scheduled for 11:30pm, and we were able to use the resort facilities for the entire day. My partner had a massage and facial late in the day and was given access to one of the Muso Rooms for a shower etc before we checked out. Overall a very relaxing stay.
The central building is unique and striking. Quite a sight to observe while dining under. I highly recommend getting a villa over the muso rooms, which can be a little small/constraining. Seafood here is excellent, and so are the view and the services. Bit pricy but you get your money’s worth.
We stayed one night here at the very beginning of our trip to Bali and absolutely loved it. I am sure that had something to do with the fact that we were upgraded to a three-bedroom villa with private pool on the cliff above Padang Padang - a lovely surprise after nearly 30 hours of travel! We ate dinner at Dugong and loved it (get the mango chicken) and agreed that the breakfast here was among the best we had in Bali. The restaurant/drinks were definitely on the pricey side but for one night, we didn't mind too much. Hope to return someday!
Wow we were so thrilled when we arrived at Suarga Padang Padang - this beautiful eco resort is perfectly situation above the cliffs with a stunning infinity pool and wonderful restaurant and bar. We stayed in one of the huts with ocean-front views and waking up there every day was an absolute dream. The breakfast was fantastic and every member of the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Sunsets from the pool and restaurant area were stunning every single night. The hut was smaller than I expected but we quickly realized that it had exactly everything we needed, perfect AC (a brand new techy-looking overhead bed AC unit that was supremely quiet and easy to control - wow!), beautiful large semi-outdoor bathroom (but no creatures or anything inside - was extremely clean and gorgeous), great water pressure, very quiet - the list goes on. We would absolutely come back to Suarga if we make it back to Uluwatu, what a perfect and wonderful spot. Location-wise you can head out the front gate and walk either direction and find some local restaurants and bars (although we recommend turning left - try Om Burger - the bset!) Thank you to all the wonderful staff for helping to make this such a special stop for us, we absolutely loved it!
