Have stayed here many times before and find it very convenient both for the tunnel and ferry, both accessible within 10 minutes. It is next door to the Auchan hypermarket complex with other shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk. The rooms are quite small but are very clean with comfortable beds. They are quite unique for a budget hotel, providing tea/coffee making facilities, bottled water, tissues and shower gel as well as a hairdryer in the bathroom. We feel there is all you need for a couple of nights. On this visit we were due to stay 2 nights but unfortunately on our first evening whilst parked in the Auchan car park someone smashed our car window and stole items from inside our car. We were advised to go to the police station but after a long wait we were told to return the following morning. On returning to the hotel rather upset , the receptionist Mathieu could not have been more helpful. He covered our broken window, got first aid for my husband's cut hand and gave us both a drink. We decided the following morning upon our return from the police station to come home as we could not properly secure our car as local garages did not have a window. We cannot thank Mathieu enough for his kindness and hopefully he will be there next time we visit as he is a real asset to the Kyriad team.
A convenient stop close to the Channel Tunnel and the ferry port. Cite Europe shopping centre only a 5 minute drive away. We have stayed in many Kyriads in France but found this to have the smallest room and tiniest bathroom that we have ever experienced! However staff pleasant and room clean and comfortable enough. Parking is secure but, when we were there it was a bit tight due to the number of vans parked and a full-size lorry taking up about 6 spaces.
Visited on Sunday unfortunately no dinner is available then but a couple of restaurants very close by. The rooms fine and clean reception staff very good. Secure car parking which is a must nowadays. Eric was as very helpful and an excellent host. we would return in future.
We were very happy with the friendliness of the Kyriad and thought that for a budget hotel. we got good value. Unfortunately the night that we stayed, the whole hotel had problems with its TV feed so I had to fire up the laptop (free wifi and easy to connect) to listen to some British news on Radio 4. We couldn't get a table for dinner this time but will try next time as the menu looked very good as did the breakfast bar which we also passed on. Comfortable bed (more so than the B&B round the corner!), small but adequate bathroom. Some might feel that the rooms are cramped but we didn't find it was a spoiler. It was very quiet, tucked away on a mainly retail estate close to Auchan. When we didn't arrive on time (due to a massive accident related traffic jam), the manager phoned to give us the gate code and our room numbers. The card keys were waiting in reception for us. We got the disabled parking space that we asked for but there is plenty of parking on site. Downsides? Expensive beer in the tiny bar and seats too high for me to sit on. My towels looked a bit grey and didn't smell very fresh.
stayed for one night on the way down to the Dordogne. Great value hotel for the money, close to the euro tunnel. clean and service is good. good car parking. WiFi is very good. Tea and coffee facilities in room. Breakfast is very good.
This is the smallest hotel room I have ever been in.!!! We had to turn sideways and shuffle by the beds, and it was not possible to get two people in the bathroom. It was a very warm night and there was no air con....very uncomfortable!!!! The tea and coffee facilities were poor...2 milk, 1 coffee and 1 tea.!!! But it was clean and the staff pleasant....but we wouldn't go again.
Arrived mid evening Sunday, no one on front desk, eventually found some guy busy watching TV behind bar, it took him several minutes and several coughs from me before he realised I was there. Room was OK, but the carpet had some nasty stains on it, fortunately we had our slippers because I would not want to walk on that carpet. Bed was like sleeping on a board.
This was our second visit in 6 months. The rooms are basic but have everything needed for a short stay. This hotel is very well placed for short trips to France and ideal for a stopover on a longer journey. There are a number of restaurants within a short walk as well as an Auchan Hypermarket a few yards away. Our personal choice was to have dinner at the hotel. There is a wide choice cooked to order, with the hors d'oeuvre particularly recommended. We have found the staff to be friendly and helpful with plenty of space for the car, but make sure that you are familiar with the details on entry should you be late back at the hotel as hotel and carpark securely locked overnight..
We went to France for a couple of days to visit family WW1 graves. we decided to stay over for one night. Kyriad Coquelles was the a good price and location. The Hotel is well situated for the channel tunnel and local shopping. The rooms are small, yet comfortable. Perfect for one night. The rooms needed a bit of maintenance, in one room there was no handle on the bathroom door, in the other trim falling of the furniture, just needed to be glued back in place. The only thing I would advice against is the breakfast, 9 euros for a continental breakfast is a bit steep, especially when you can go around the corner to Auchan and have a full English for 9.5 euros. Wifi is available, however it is very slow.
We have just returned from Germany & on our outward & return journey we stayed in Hotel Kyriad Calais. Our first visit we were late & had booked dinner which they kept for us. The meal was ok & would have been good if we had not been held up due to extra security which couldn't be helped. The room we were given was very small but for 1 night was adequate. The beds were comfy but there was no room to move in the room. The bathroom was equally tiny ( if you're on the larger size don't stop here). The staff I found to be very surly & unhelpful.I thought this was because we were 2hrs late. However on the return journey we were on time & the staff were just as surly. The food looked good but was stone cold & served on cold plates which didn't help. My husband ordered a beer & a gin & tonic for me & he was charged 16.40euro. I've read other reviews of this budget hotel & quite frankly I cannot understand them. We have stayed in other budget hotels on other trips to Germany & this is definitely not the best. We went for a walk in the local area before we set off on the second leg of our journey. There is a sewer pumping station outside the hotel so ask for a room at the back to avoid the smell. The area is very nice but if you want a drink after 10pm turn left out of the hotel & go towards the roundabout where there are a number large chain outlets.
