Starting with the good: The rental unit was well-appointed and was recently renovated. The air conditioning, washing machine, electric drying racks, and kitchen appliances all worked well. The beds were clean and comfortable. We were close to metro and RER stations and enjoyed the neighborhood.One caution: There is a second rental unit and the wall dividing the two is thin. We could hear the neighbors at night, so if you are a light sleeper utilizing the pull-out bed, you may want to bring earplugs.The poor: Due to what I suspect was deferred maintenance on the main apartment door, I became locked out of the unit (along with the people staying in the other rental unit) on my first night. The deadbolts were stuck and I could not turn the key to unlock. I contacted the host starting at 9:30 pm, but received no reply. In the end, I called a locksmith and entered the unit around 1 am. I asked the host to reimburse the locksmith fee and for compensation for the time I spent searching for nearby hotels (all fully booked) and a locksmith, but continued to receive no reply from him. He eventually agreed to reimburse the locksmith fee after three messages from me.The poor communication really dampened my stay: 9:30 pm did not seem like an excessively late hour to contact the host, and I would have hoped for a more proactive follow-up from him given the situation. Furthermore, it would have been helpful to receive check-in/check-out information in a more timely manner.
