Nice hotel well located in the centre of Paris. I you want to go shopping, the luxury mall La Fayette is just nextdoors, the big metro/RER station Saint Lazare is at a couple of hundred meters from the hotel. The hotel is ok, small rooms but this is quite standard in Paris, air conditioning working fine, a real bath and very nice bathroom, but should ask a room away from the street side as there is a lot of noise coming from the streets very early in the morning. Breakfast was extended and qualitative but the place was rather crowded and small, so don't take any (business) lugage or clothing but leave it in your room until checkout. Automatic (pre-)check-in didn't work as planned as I still had to line up and show my ID card, but no harm done. Automatic check-out was ok but could be faster, maybe they could mention the procedure at the reception desk as I still started to line up in front of the (crowded) reception desk. Al in all, you can't go wrong with this hotel on your business or city trip!
I recently had the great pleasure of staying at the Mercure Paris Opera Garnier for four nights. As with most Parisian hotels, the rooms were not particularly spacious but they were clean, comfortable, and newly remodeled. Two big "pros" about the hotel were the service and the location. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. I traveled with a group and they managed to get each of us our room keys quickly and patiently. Most evenings we enjoyed a drink in the courtyard and the wait staff was helpful and accommodating even though most of us only spoke English. In my mind, however, perhaps the greatest asset of this hotel is its location. The location is very convenient for navigating the Metro. It is tucked away on a side street away from traffic but is only a few steps from the Haussman-St. Lazare station where I took the RER to Gare du Nord and CDG and where you can connect to most major Metro lines in the city. The neighborhood itself is incredible if you like shopping. The Galleries Lafayette and Printemps are very near and the Madeleine shopping area is a short walk. Fantastic restaurants abound (I recommend the nearby Mollard, especially if you enjoy fish and seafood) and there is much to see and do with the Opera Garnier, rooftop terrace of Galleries Lafayette, and the Fragonard Museum in the immediate area. I have stayed in Paris many times and this was far and away the best location I have ever enjoyed. One word of caution. If possible, avoid a room on the 6th floor as the elevator only goes to 5 and you will have to carry your luggage up some steps. A great hotel in a great location and outstanding service to match. I would not think twice about staying at Mercure Paris Opera Garnier again.
I normally stay at the Sofitel Scribe but it was full. This seemed a nearby good value alternative. The corridors are narrow and the rooms are small, but well designed. The privilege room was well equipped with complimentary soft drinks in the minibar and good toiletries, and had a small balcony. Everything was clean and the staff were friendly. The location is great. The breakfast was perfectly adequate in principle. Wifi was patchy and the signal cut out regularly. However, I encountered an issue regarding poor service on dietary requirements. Despite marking a gluten free requirement on my booking and requesting bread at breakfast several weeks before, I received an email the day before saying only GF madeleines would be available. Why, with several weeks notice, was nothing else provided? Equally, the hotel has no restaurant and while there is a GF symbol on the room service menu, there are no dishes on the list offered gluten free! Given this is the only dining option at the hotel, I will be unable to return. This is not the offering I expect from Accor, which has always been able to accommodate these fairly straightforward needs in the past.
The room allocated was extremely small built into the attic of the hotel. Consequently the walls slopes inwards reducing even further the space to manoeuvre in. I lost count the number of times I bumped my head. The water pressure for the shower was next to useless. When I asked reception to allocate a different room for me. The only reply I got was "this is Paris, all hotels are like this" which is of course a ridiculous response
As my wife and I flew home after our trip we discussed how difficult it would be to describe in words what a marvelous trip we had. Mercure Paris Opera Garnier was perfect for us. Great staff, friendly and helpful, great location, my wife was my subway Sherpa and we were so close to everything it was incredible. So many great shops nearby and, of course, many wonderful restaurants. We enjoyed most of our breakfasts at the hotel. Convenient and great variety. Too easy to get used to having chocolate croissants for breakfast! Staff taking care of the dining room for breakfast was very efficient. Food was fresh. When we checked in, we knew to expect a small room from the reviews we read, but when we opened the door the room gave a nice first impression and turned out to be very comfortable and very quiet. The hotel proved to be an excellent base for experiencing Paris, and it was a fantastic experience. We are looking forward to our return.
We stayed here for my friends engagement party. The hotel itself is in a lovely location with shops all around incase you need to pop out (bonus that there was a huge 2 storey sephora 100 metres away!) We were travelling with our baby this holiday and needed a cot in our room. For some reason it didn't show up on our booking.com request however the staff were lovely and helpful and prepared us a slightly larger room so we could fit the cot in comfortably. The cot bed itself was a standard travel cot bed but the mattress was super thin and almost like sleeping on a plank of wood. The room was small but clean with a small fridge and tea making facilities. Breakfast selection consisted of bread cold meats cheese boiled eggs a simple hot breakfast (minus baked beans) yoghurts fruits and pastries. The selection wasn't huge but it was just enough. I would recommend the hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Idealy located hotel. Close to gare St Lazare and only about 100 meters from a direct metro line with gare du Nord. The hotel has a small but nicely decoreted lobby/bar (newly refurbished) and small open air sitting area. The rooms are not very large but very clean and with super comfortable beds. Minibar, TV, bureau and cofee and tea making facilities in the room. The buffet breakfast was delicious. The staff very friendly and helpfull. The hotel does not have a restaurant but that is no problem as you can find plenty a lot of places for different budget in the vicinity of the hotel.
The hotel location ia excellent with great metro connections to the whole city. A lot of city sights also in walking distance. Breakfast is very good with plenty good choices. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are nice and kept very clean. Only small downsides are the room's size and small breakfast area but this is something regular Paris. Would definetly stay here again
The location is the best. Staying every year at Mercure Opera Garnier since 2010, I have to write the bad review. I have loved the Americans style breakfast of the hotel, but I am feeling the quality of morning dishes is getting worse lately. For exemple, bacon with fatty meat is so awful !. Interior design of the room has totally changed, but it doesn't seem so good. It used to be so good.
Good located hotel but with small rooms and an expensive breakfast. The hotel clean of the room was always late and we could not rest in it before 2 p.pm. because it was never done before that time, although we used to leave the room at 8 a.m. and hanged out the warning to "please make up my room".
