Hôtel Metropol3.0 out of 5.0

At first you'd better to know that you will find the minimum requirements for a 3-star hotel, if the hotel is a 3-star one already. Receptionists were nice and friendly. Room cleaning is done every day, which is good but you cannot find enough plug to charge your gadgets although they may provide you with a multiple plug device. And, WiFi is poor in both antenna coverage and speed. The awful thing about the hotel is the neighborhood. The hotel is very close to Gare du Nord which means you have access to whole Paris and suburbs, but at the same time, the area is crowded and at nights mostly with buggers.
Booked for a one night stay as industrial action disrupted a journey. Expectations were not high but I was pleasantly surprised by an efficient and friendly reception desk, a sizeable room with large bathroom and shower and all one would expect from a hotel. View over an inner courtyard was not great but as recompense traffic noise was non-existent. No restaurant but numerous outlets in the immediate vicinity to cater for every imaginable taste and budget from take-away doner kebab to 7-course gourmet. Breakfast at 12€ was steeply priced and unimaginative being basically a standard french buffet albeit good quality and fresh. (Noted several young oriental guests stuffing handbags to provide a cheap lunch which may explain the cost!). Clean and convenient hotel which I would happily use again either overnight or even for a short stay in Paris.
Found hair on the sheets, blanket on the (dirty) ground, old dirty carpet, ripped walls, hard bed, dirty old place, leak on the wall, no heating. Over all, good points are: reasonable room size, relatively calm room/place (regarding the localization). Conclusion/Lesson : the amount of stars is only an indicator about the size of the rooms and the service. Seems like this on worth between 1 and 2.
Old and dirty, definitely not worth 80€/night even though conveniently located. Needs a big renovation and clean up. Photos from the room: hair dryer fixed with tape, don't mention about electric safety... The room ceiling is peeling off and the door is broken also...
If you remember that this is a budget hotel, and therefore with small basic rooms, then you will not be disappointed. Although small my room was clean and bright with an immaculate shower room. On arrival I asked to be changed from the allocated room to a room with a balcony. The guy on reception did this for me in a friendly, professional and helpful manner - fuss-free. It IS on a busy street and if you want a quiet room then ask for one at the back of the building. The double glazed French doors, when closed, do a brilliant job of blocking out the sound anyway and there are also very effective blackout curtains. Bear in mind though that, in the height of summer, you may need the French doors open. A great location for the Gare du Nord and the metro but I chose to walk everywhere - less than half an hour to The Louvre etc, and even over the River Seine to Montparnasse took no more than 45 minutes from the hotel. Aside from the location, the friendly, polite and helpful staff make this a hotel that I would definitely recommend for a short budget break.
We had the misfortune to stay here for a night after a mess up with our train home. The only positive was its location being a 5 minute walk to Paris du Nord station. The room was very small and very dated. The decor was poor, the bathroom dirty and the pillows had hairs on. There was a small curtain covering the door which led to a open balcony area which you could access all the rooms on the floor. As there was no air conditioning or a fan the room was hot. We felt uncomfortable leaving the door open as anyone could access the room from the others on the floor. There was a light hanging out from the ceiling with exposed wires. We don't know how this hotel is a 3*!
What can I said. Is good location for move just 300m to Gare di Nord. Is normal price not to expensive no to cheap. Easy breakfast. Just a lit be Dirty. It's ok to go around all they and just take a showers down sleep.
The room was decent, nice and clean with a small en-suite. Large windows kept the room nice and cool, and there was a hairdryer which was a bonus. Unfortunately the 'double bed' turned our to be two single beds pushed together, which was a little inconvenient. It's in an excellent location due to the closeness of Gare du Nord, and it is very good value for money, being fairly inexpensive.
Location wise is good,5 mins walk from garu du nord terminal.. Room small. bed looks clean but carpet flooring looks dirty. Toilet doesn't have proper water drainage. Service worst,we asking for glass because we bought big water bottle, they replied we buy in supermarket😰😰😰 I want to cry..I will never ever book this hotel again...In paris you can see a lot of hotel around the area...
I stayed in this hotel twice in a week upon arrival and just before departure from my stay in France. The first room was definitely better than the second so it may be worth asking for a view (the second was looking out the back of the hotel). It's located not 5 minutes away from the Gare du Nord so is very well located for the Eurostar. Had a charm about it for sure. I would probably have given it 4 stars if only based on the first room but the second room wasn't as nice and proved a pretty noisy night too.
