Hôtel Metropol3.0 out of 5.0

A cozy place to stay and it's quite close to the Louvre, the price is really good considering the Paris costs. Would recommend for those who are willing to stay a couple of days in Paris in order to see the city and also are on limited budget.
The hotel is a little run down (carpets, furniture) but reasonably clean, staff is helpful and wifi worked. Our room was a little on the small side but everything was reasonable. The breakfast buffet was simple but definitely okay with croissants, rolls, eggs, ham. I don't think there is a better location when you plan to use the trains - TGV, RER and metro are a short walk even with luggage and the hotel has an elevator. It's an excellent lower budget option for a short stay, in our case a CDG airport 24 hr layover. There are plenty of cheap eats, restaurants, a bakery and a tiny supermarket across the streets.
The room was reasonably sized and very warm. The bed was pretty comfortable and there was a little balcony that looked out onto the Rue de Maubeuge. Good location, within walking distance of many restaurants and bars. Within walking distance of Gare du Nord station. The only problem was the walls were pretty thin so I'd recommend ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
Superb location esp if you are arriving on Eurostar at the Gare du Nord - just a few minutes easy walk. A 10 minute walk up to the funicular for Sacre Coeur on Montmartre. Best of all are the buses RIGHT OUTSIDE that come every few minutes and will take you to the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower, etc. Fantastic (Be sure to get your carnet bundle of transport tickets at the Gare du Nord when you arrive) Clean unpretentious hotel with (relatively) affordable rates for Paris - about the best value we could find! Nice bathroom, small rooms with comfortable beds. helpful staff and boiling water available downstairs. Very good toiletry packs.
We visited Paris for two days and found Hotel Metropol very well situated close to Gare Du Nord making it very easy to travel. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and all speak English. The hotel was adequate and rooms cleaned everyday. The walls in the room were quite dirty plus the duvet didn’t smell too great and could have done with replacing. I think I’d probably spend a bit extra next time to find a hotel that meets my requirements.
My wife an I visited paris in June 2017 for 3 days. We stayed at the metropol hotel, and we found this hotel to be what we needed for our trip. We only came to the hotel late at night after walking around paris the whole day. In the hotel we found our room clean, with hot water in the shower and a comfortable bed. If you are looking for a simple hotel with no luxury and basic room in a good location in Paris, this is the hotel for you.
At first you'd better to know that you will find the minimum requirements for a 3-star hotel, if the hotel is a 3-star one already. Receptionists were nice and friendly. Room cleaning is done every day, which is good but you cannot find enough plug to charge your gadgets although they may provide you with a multiple plug device. And, WiFi is poor in both antenna coverage and speed. The awful thing about the hotel is the neighborhood. The hotel is very close to Gare du Nord which means you have access to whole Paris and suburbs, but at the same time, the area is crowded and at nights mostly with buggers.
Booked for a one night stay as industrial action disrupted a journey. Expectations were not high but I was pleasantly surprised by an efficient and friendly reception desk, a sizeable room with large bathroom and shower and all one would expect from a hotel. View over an inner courtyard was not great but as recompense traffic noise was non-existent. No restaurant but numerous outlets in the immediate vicinity to cater for every imaginable taste and budget from take-away doner kebab to 7-course gourmet. Breakfast at 12€ was steeply priced and unimaginative being basically a standard french buffet albeit good quality and fresh. (Noted several young oriental guests stuffing handbags to provide a cheap lunch which may explain the cost!). Clean and convenient hotel which I would happily use again either overnight or even for a short stay in Paris.
Found hair on the sheets, blanket on the (dirty) ground, old dirty carpet, ripped walls, hard bed, dirty old place, leak on the wall, no heating. Over all, good points are: reasonable room size, relatively calm room/place (regarding the localization). Conclusion/Lesson : the amount of stars is only an indicator about the size of the rooms and the service. Seems like this on worth between 1 and 2.
Old and dirty, definitely not worth 80€/night even though conveniently located. Needs a big renovation and clean up. Photos from the room: hair dryer fixed with tape, don't mention about electric safety... The room ceiling is peeling off and the door is broken also...
