Stayed here on business arriving very late by car. The receptionist waited for me (23:00) checked me in quickly and poured me a beer. He also gave me a password to get in the underground parking and set up the WiFi. The room was small, but adequate with two very narrow beds which were pretty uncomfortable. The views of the river were interesting (pic) and the room despite being old appeared to be clean with working TV and no Aircon. The bathroom was small and i had to squeeze between the sink and the wall to use the toilet (pic). Breakfast was very basic with cold cuts of ham and cheese, serials and selection of bread. This is France and as usual the bread was fantastic which makes up for everything else. Overall a tired and poor hotel but at under ninety Euros per night you get what you pay for. I will return.
Located quit far from "The Lille" but well connected (10 minutes walking to get to RER) The Room is small but for the price that you paid was more than ok. Pressure of the shower good, Staff very helpful and gentle. breakfast buffet was very good. Paris is expensive be prepared
Great personalized service: the reception staff addresses you by your name (and remembers it!), the food I had for diner was good & well prepared, all service staff was very friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean, great location along the river 'la Marne', etc.!
I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, and the rooms is clean and nice, absolutely recommendable. But there is a lot of room for improvement in regards to the staff behavior, I still don´t understand how it can be possible that reception staff / General Manager aren´t talking any word in english. Especially when it is a hotel which has a lot of Buy Groups with the target group of chinese and germans. Furthermore I have felt not good and disrespectful treated when I put up my room door sign "do not disturb" and somebody come in to clean my room, this actually happened twice.
part of a coach tour here fo Finalle of Tour de France pleasantly surprised at the picturesque location of this Campanile hotel. Last year had a poor experience at Campanile at Roissy this year was a complete contrast .staff here at Nogent were friendly and efficient and helpful when we had problems with room wi Fi . We did not eat in the hotel in the evening as their full menu was not running when we visited . On offer was the buffet meal and fellow travellers who did eat there said it was delicious .rooms were clean and comfortable and hotel in walking distance of a supermarket to supplement your tea and coffee if you like more than one cup .lovely river walks and several restaurants in walking distance of hotel . A further walk into town brings you to train and bus station and lots of other amenities the train viaduct is a handy Landmark to keep you from losing where the hotel is and following the viaduct is probably the quickest and least hilly way into Nogent or Perreux my husband and I found a longer hillier route we enjoyed the walk and agai Viaduct was handy to keep us from straying to far and getting lost . If the full menu had been in operation we probably would not have ventured far .Terry our coach driver was a lovely guy who did his best to make sure we all had a lovely time .We got wet at the Finalle but enjoyed the whole trip and the Campanile at Nogent was a welcome resting place after long days in Paris .it is also in commuting distance for anyone who wanted longer in Paris thank you Campanile and Natoinal tours and Terry for a great trip
Seven of us stayed at this hotel on our way home from the Le Mans 24 Hour race this year. We wanted somewhere cheap & cheerful as an alternative to staying under canvass for another night, plus the benefit of our own toilet & shower. We chose Nogent for its proximity to motorways so that five of us could head to the Eurotunnel and two could head back to Luxembourg. Sunday night traffic was a nightmare so maybe Nogent wasn't quite the right location. Will think about that for next year's race. As regards the hotel the main worry on arrival was the total lack of parking. There is, as the hotel suggests, a public car park near by, but it's quite a walk and I was worried about a British registered car being left in a public car park on the outskirts of Paris. However we were fortunate to find on-street parking in front of the hotel and the car was ok in the morning. The rooms were fine, save and except for the fact that the air conditioning was set centrally and was off at night. Therefore at 04:30 I was wide awake as the room was sweltering and there was no way of over-riding the controls. Tried opening the window but even at that hour of the morning there were delivery trucks that kept me awake. On balance though the beds were comfortable and the bathroom had a good shower. Besides parking the other downside of the hotel was the night staff. Certain people clearly did not want to be there. Despite assurances that the bar was opened it took 15 mins for us to attract service, a further 15 for the drinks to arrive & then another 5 before we were able to persuade the night porter to open our bottles of beer! Breakfast was a typical European affair. Not sure it was really worth the €10 each, but there was nothing else available. Will we go back? Maybe.
We decided to stay in Nogent due to it's proximity to the major autoroutes axes. ** If you're travelling by car, there's NO on-site parking ** *** If you like keeping your car in one piece, be careful parking on the local streets! *** WARNING: this is a long review. You may find it amusing, but we found some incidents massively avoidable! On arrival: - surprised to see so many people eating on the terrace for the hotel's restaurant. Seemed like a good sign. Read on .... Checking-in: - greeted with a cheery, "Bonjour messieurs!", then when we responded, also in French, and to begin check-in, the surly response of the male receptionist was then, "I'm serving someone already. You'll have to wait your turn!" [....Err, OK. Your cheery "Bonjour!" made it seem you were ready to help, but I digress ....] Lift: Out of service. Stairs it was then. Fortunately only located on the 2nd floor. Pity the older group on higher floors! Rooms: - basic, but good beds, VERY good shower - light, airy feeling rooms BUT, and it's big BUT, you can not control the room a/c at all. Our room was 25C and got warmer through the night. Why did the Campanile decide it would be a good idea to remove the a/c control panel and cover the unit with a blanking panel? "It's a 2* hotel, monsieur! What do you expect?" After a very good dinner at the local Indian restaurant (see other reviews for "Krishna", which is only ~200m from the hotel), we returned to the hotel for a drink. It was around 22h30. The previous surly receptionist was still on duty. We were informed the bar was open and someone would come and take our order whilst we sat on the terrace. Some 10 minutes later I re-entered the building to try and find the missing waiter/watiress, to find the bar closed, all waiting staff had disappeared and the surly receptionist had been replaced by another chap, the lucky night service man, Afonso. Having explained to Afonso that we'd been waiting for service, he gave a stereotypical Gallic shrug that told me, "So what!" (Discussion in French, but you'll see how this went....) Me: "Is the bar still open? We'd like to order some drinks, please." Afonso: "What do you want?" Me: "How about a drinks menu to start, please?" Afonso: *huffs* Got off his fat behind, shuffled 3m to the bar, grabbed a menu card, launched it on the counter. Having then compiled the 7 drink order, Afonso shuffled off once again to the bar. 20 minutes later he returned with 6 beers, in sealed bottles, and 1 Cognac - which he'd managed to actually pour into a glass. It was in a tumbler, but still, this is a 2* hotel ("What do you expect?! *insert Gallic shrug here*) Afonso plonked the drinks on the table and shuffled off. *pick up the sealed bottle, try to twist off cap* Ah, we need a bottle opener. I go back inside to see (the ever smiling) Afonso to ask if he could open the bottles. Afonso: *blank stare* Me: I'm unable to drink the drink when the bottle's sealed. Do you have a bottle opener. Afonso: *blank stare* Me: Should I use my teeth?.... (or yours if you carry on with the blank stare?!?!) Afonso: shuffles his fat behind off to get a bottle opener .... ("This is a 2* hotel. What do you expect?! (*insert Gallic shrug here*)) Afonso comes outside 5 mins later to open the bottles. Well, after such great service, we HAD to order another round to see if he could muster the shuffling this time! Breakfast: Not a bad selection for a 2* hotel buffet. Afonso was the man clearing tables. Oh, deep joy! In short, Afonso couldn't find his own behind if he were handed a mirror on a stick! The hotel's fine, but Afonso should find a job somewhere else - he's not a "service industry" kinda guy. Don't forget: "This is a 2* hotel. What did you expect?!" ENJOY YOUR STAY AT THE CAMPANILE!!
I was in this hotel with my parents for the marriage of my daughter because it is close to the place where the banquet was organized. The position of the hotel is very nice, in front of a beautiful natural landscape.
This hotel is good value for money and at a convenient location from where it is relatively easy to commute to Paris. Being one of the Campanile chain, it is, by nature, identical in decor to all of the other chain members but that said, quality and cleanliness is good. The room we were allocated was basic and small but contained everything required for a short stay. Unfortunately while we stayed there (July 2014), the customer lift was not working and we were required to use the VERY SMALL service lift while taking our luggage to the room. Other than this one gripe, the hotel was ideal for our needs and I'm sure that the lift will be fixed in the very near future. Breakfast was adequate (not outstanding!) and the staff were all very accommodating. Overall a perfect stopover base location for visiting Paris, probably not first choice for a longer stay though!
Pleasant location in Nogent-sur-Marne right next to the river. Small but adequate dining room. Room quite comfortable but would have liked a hairdryer in the room rather than upon request. Lift to upper floors quite slow.
