We have recently returned from two weeks in Polis staying at the Mariela Apartments. When we arrived, late evening, the hospitality from the owners was very friendly and welcoming. Our apartment was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, more than enough to set you up for the day. The apartments are well situated for shops, bars and restaurants and near to the bus station. Pambos and Eleni (the owners) were very helpful, giving us information about bus times and destinations. We like to walk and this area is ideal for walking, beautiful scenery and amazing variety of citrus fruit growing all around. We would recommend this hotel for families and couples. Excellent holiday!
We went for a three night break to the Mariela last week and unfortunately the time went too quickly. We were made very welcome by the owners, Pambos and Eleni, and they were very helpful during our stay. Pambos was extremely helpful with information about the area and restaurants and Eleni fed us well with home made cake and cooked breakfasts. Our rooms were very clean and had most things needed for our comfort. We would have liked to stay longer.
A family run hotel both suitable for families and couples.Located in the very centre of Polis Chrysohous in Pafos district, it is only 1.5 kms from the famous Lachi village and 10 min drive from the Akamas natural Park and the baths of Aphrodite. Ideal starting point for excursions and explorations of Pafos district. The family run Mariela is the right place for those who wish to discover the history of Ancient Cyprus. The owner Mr Pambos and his wife will be delighted to welcome you and offer you the cypriot hospitality.
I stayed at the Mariela Hotel for 1 weeks end of Jenuary beginning of February. Pambos and Eleni are always very helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The accommodation has everything I require. Excellent value for money. Village zivania - this drink has been sooooo by the way .... Thanks so much Pampos
We stayed at the Mariela for 2 weeks end of September beginning of October. Had a fantastic time. We have been going to the Mariela for 14 years. Pambos and Eleni are always very helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. If you want to relax after a stressful year at work that is the place to go. We always meet up with old friends and make new ones. The accommodation has everything we require. We hire a car for a few days and use the local bus service as well as walk into Latchi. Enjoy going for a swim in the pool. Excellent value for money. Will be back in 2018.
My wife and l spent a fortnight at the Mariela in September for the 10th year running. It's the most friendly relaxing hotel l have ever stayed in. The owners Pambos and Eleni are the most fantastic, friendly and hard working hosts you could wish for & nothing is too much trouble for them. Each year that we return to the Mariela, we meet more and more guests that are repeat visitors, who we have met before and who like us, return year after year. (So its not just me, that thinks this is a fantastic holiday destination!). A bit of information for people who have not been to Polis before. Polis is a quiet village, it has lots of good quality restaurants and snack bars, a pebble beach (about 10 mins from the village centre), & a large supermarket. A 660ml bottle of beer is about 3Euro (2.5Euro at Mariela!), a litre of village wine is 9Euro a restaurant meal about 10Euro and a snack meal around 6Euro. If you want a 'busy' resort then this isn't the place for you. But a 45 min bus to the busy resort of Pathos only costs 1.5Euro. For the last ten years, the weather in Polis in September has been consistently hot and sunny, with only about 3 hours of (welcome) rain , over the whole period we have been going. From the beach, which has a bar selling snacks and drinks there is a beach walk way to the nearby resort of Latchi, which takes about 20 minutes, or you can take the hourly bus. Latchi has a large number of sea food restaurants and a harbour where you can hire boats, go on a boat trip, or sub aqua experience. For me, the Mariela Hotel in Polis is an ideal holiday destination and l look forward to returning each year and l highly recommend that you try this hotel, for a quiet relaxing holiday.
Just come back from 14 days at Mariela , has got to be one of the most peaceful hotels I have ever stayed in , Pambos and his wife Eleni are lovely , we enjoyed every minute of our stay here and hope to return , we loved it .
The acommodation is quite basic, but you have (almost) everything you need - we could have done with washing up liquid and brushes. The staff are friendly and people (mostly elderly British) often gather in the bar in the evenings to chat. It's near enough to the centre of town and the attractive restaurants there. We didn't use the pool but it looked good. Value for money is the best feature.
We've just returned from a 10 night stay at the Mariela Hotel Apartments. We stayed in a studio apartment overlooking the pool. It was fairly basic but had everything we needed and we weren't expecting 5 star! When we were shown to our room we noticed a problem with the fridge but we were moved to another room straight away without any hassle or argument. The pool is kept spotlessly clean and there are plenty of sun loungers. The pool bar serves drinks and snacks at very competitive prices. The small town of Polis was perfect for us - small enough to walk around easily but with a huge supermarket within a two minute walk and plenty of lovely places to eat. There's a very pleasant walk down to the beach which takes about 25 minutes and is just taxing enough (particularly in the heat) to feel as though you're at least getting some sort of exercise! All in all we had a really enjoyable stay and would recommend the Mariela Apartments.
We spent a week at the Mariela in early September. Even though we arrived at 2am, we were greeted with smiles, pleasant greetings and cartons of fruit juice. The rooms were clean and tidy, if in need of a little restoration in places. The whole hotel complex was well maintained by the owners (Pampos and Eleni) and a small band of very helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble and Pampos seems to be on call 24 hours a day (he doesn't seem to sleep). Although its a self catering Hotel, you can purchase meals and these are cooked to order and were always well cooked and hot. There was never any hassle about paying for food or drinks. When you had finished and sat around chatting you could saunter down and pay. No-one was hovering looking for payment. The pool was cleaned every morning and they left lilos in the pool for anyone to use. The atmosphere was calm and very laid back. We had a room that looked out over the pool, the sea and the mountains. We all had a lovely time and would definitely go back again. We even received a lovely email from Pampos and Eleni on our return thanking us for coming (we thought that was a nice touch).
