We arrived at 9.45 pm tired and dishevelled, the staff made us welcome & relaxed straight away, to our bags to the room whilst we had a meal and the much needed glass of wine. the complete hotel is beautiful and well maintained. The rooms where superb quality with the most comfortable bed i have slept in. The selection of drinks in the dressing table drawer was very pleasing. The view from our room on the third floor overlooking the pool & sea was a sight to behold. The food was delicious with only one draw back I am vegetarian (meat can make me ill) some of the dishes where labelled vegetarian however some had shrimps in, classed as flesh (no wafer thin ham though, joke for Brits). I checked the full contents from then on.

This hotel looks impressive on arrival and that feeling continues throughout the stay. Staff are excellent. Facilities are excellent. Rooms are great. Too many choices for food in a multitude of restaurants! Going for a swim? Choose the pool. Just and to sunbathe? Grab one of the many, widely spaced, loungers which are serviced by dedicated staff. Need transport? Jump in a taxi (there is a dedicated small building for the use of taxi drivers). Wedding? They even have an onsite church! I just wish we had managed to make use of all of the facilities on offer and my wife did not want to leave!

This hotel was recomended by my son, who were here 2 years ago with his family on summer vacation. Do not be "trifty" and ask for a room with a partial view of pool and see, as i did. We got a very nice room (3168) on 3 floor with this view from the balcony. The service was excellent and the breakfast as well (almost like in asimilar hotel in my country -Israel)

This is an attractive up-market hotel with an impressive modern foyer and equally impressive staff. Check-in was totally straightforward, and having e-mailed the hotel in advance we were pleased to find we had been accommodated in the area we had requested. Communications with the hotel were excellent with quick replies every time. The bedrooms and associated corridors are "classy", with contemporary neutral colour schemes and quality furnishings. There is plenty of storage space in the rooms, the beds are comfortable and there's a pillow menu. Compared to other hotels the vanity area in the bathroom was a bit "tight", though I suspect that would be more of a problem for female guests. We had a sea view room which was exactly as described, overlooking the Mediterranean and the pool area. Air-con was very good and easy to operate and the laundry service was rocket fast - morning pick-up, afternoon return. The breakfast buffet is best described as stunning with a remarkable selection of beautifully presented food and a choice of outdoor or indoor tables. The evening buffet which is on a different theme every night, is a much smaller affair, but what it lacks in size is more than made up in quality as the food is excellent. The cheese section however looks like an afterthought and presentation and selection in this area could be greatly improved. Nikos, who oversees both these buffets, is very personable and goes out of his way to ensure everything is perfect. The live music during dinner is provided by a variety of accomplished musicians. O'shin and Bacca restaurants are super and eating in both is mandatory. Bacca is further enhanced by a sommelier who really knows his wines. There is a strict dress code for all restaurants and guests are escorted to their tables by a member of staff, all of whom are, without exception, wonderful. A problem for us was that at lunch time what the hotel classed as light snacks, we considered to be full meals! A tapas menu during the day would be a welcome addition. The pool area is attractive and generous and even though there was a three-day public holiday during our stay and the hotel was full, there were still sunbeds to spare and it didn't feel cramped. The terrace overlooking the pool is a very pleasant place to relax, but with very little shade it's hardly used. A few parasols in this area would transform it. Toilets in the public areas were spotless. Overall this hotel has been a great find for us and we've already booked for next year.

The best looking hotel in Paphos, taking its cue from a classical Spanish Roman villa, inside and out. Beautiful pools and gardens. Never a problem getting a sun lounger or getting some quality time in one of the pools. Food was excellent, varied every night (we stayed for 10 days) and plentiful. Only gripe is that they do not do all inclusive, so all drinks with the evening meal (including table water!) are payable. Otherwise our half board package was excellent value, for the quality we encountered.

We stayed in this hotel last year and were so impressed we immediately booked it again for this year. In the meantime we emailed the hotel and asked if we could have a pool view room this year. They didn't promise but said they would try their best. Arriving at the hotel on the 7th June we were met by the same lovely doorman who took care of our check in, cases, welcome drink and finally took us to our room. Guess what? We even got our pool view room. Is the hotel as good as last year? In our opinion better. The rooms have been refurbished and the public rooms altered. The main restaurant appears to have more outdoor space. As I said last year it is the staff and food that make this hotel. A few of the old faces are missing but have been replaced with lovely new staff. Food is as good and breakfast is fantastic. All I can say is " just book it you won't regret it " We have been only twice. We met a couple who have been 14 times. We hope to get our 3 times badge next year.

This year, we spent our first vacation in the new formula (me and my wife plus our 5 month old daughter). Because this was something new for us, we planed it with a lot in advanced. We chose this hotel taking the advice from our travel agent. Very good reviews also helped us to decide. I sent them an email to ask what kind of facilities do they have for infants, and I got the answer really fast: "Upon request we can arrange a sterilizer, bottle warmer, baby bath, changing mat or a high chair. Babysitting can be also arranged upon request." Also thru email I arranged everything we needed for the baby. I've been to Paphos before to another hotel, but here at Elysium the services are way better. The staff is very friendly and willing to help. Not everything is perfect but what I appreciate is that everyone is focused on solving the problems. I have a thumb up for everyone except the server in the dining restaurant. They seem to work in slow motion mixing orders and offering a poor service. The room was very clean and very well equipped. Power outlets equipped with USB ports saved us from some troubles due to the different standard comparing with the majority of Europe. The food was good to excellent. They had sea food every day which in my opinion was great. The water in the pool had 28 C and the sea water 24 C - a bit cold. There were a lot of sun beds and umbrellas available. The beach boys were great. Also the pool service was great. I want to mention Viorel who is a great guy. Overall it was a great vacation and it's one of the few hotels where I would go back for a second time.

The Elysium remains one of the best hotels in the world. We have been 10 times and we still totally love it. If you are looking for luxury without formality, specialness without stuffiness you'll love this hotel. The refurb is great and we can't wait to see stage two in the pool area. New this trip was yoga with Elizabeth in front of the sea, really lovely - and as a novice - great for all levels - no being embarrassed that you can't stand on your head! Cynthia as ever looked after us including a special surprise trip to the hairdresser - who's name I forget - please thank her - she made it all very special for our daughter Nicole. The food is amazing and we have lots of people to thank. Janet is new and amazing at the pool bar - new talent to watch! At the lunch time mediteraneo try the crab claws wow! Yiannis (also at Bacco) is brilliant and has created an energised and classic wine list. Elena, Irene, Demis, Stravoula, and George are wonderful, thank you! O'shin rivals any Japanese restaurant that we have experienced and that's a lot (our daughter loves sushi!) . The new crew with Freddie, Paulina and Kataezina are so welcoming and professional, smiling and happy to see you. Rachel is still doing a great job in kids club. Marios still makes great fresh omelettes - even grilling mine - with less fat! Marina and Niccos, at the evening buffet always warm - and funny - thank you. The reception staff are amazing. Bacco - wow - Luigi as ever and the chefs have a beautiful menu and the setting is fabulous. Finally Leonidas in the cafe Occidental upholds the Elysium's signature terrace with outstanding service - and we love the love beds! Lots of new staff - some of which have much to learn to match these guys. But we'll be back!

Where does one start? How can a 5* hotel out do a 7* hotel? If you have read some of my previous reviews, you will know that I am a big fan of this hotel and the Paphos area in Cyprus General. The hotel with its big upgrades of the bedrooms and lobby areas has brought it bang up to date. They have also made changes to some of restaurant menus and placement of food ensuring that quality is upheld. This is the 5* experience. The 7* comes when one includes the staff, after all a hotel is only as good as its staff, right? The effort that they put in, to ensure our stay was perfect, in my experience is second to none, and it great to be greeted by the same members of staff every year. Here's me raving about the hotel when there are lots of other things to see and do in Paphos. These I will review separately. Anyway, I think I would be doing 7* staff a disservice if I did not mention some outstanding members. So from restaurant Daniela and Marina, the porters, Andre and Fontas, of course from guest relations Cynthia. Thank you for once again making our stay a fantastic one.

This is a beautiful hotel. The rooms and landscaping are wonderful. It is exceptionally clean and the staff are without doubt the friendliest and most efficient we have encountered. But ...... we were most definitely not impressed with the food served during dinner. The breakfasts are fine and comparably good with anywhere. Dinner however was a massive disappointment. Firstly dishes are served out of large metal terrines in a dark part of the restaurant patio. This means you can't see clearly what's inside and the information labels are not that clear either. Once you find something to eat is generally not very hot or even cold. The desserts are repetitive and disappointing. The scoop for the ice cream is not working properly and guests have to use dessert spoons. If you decide to have lunch and no dinner you are only permitted to have 15 euros worth of food and any drinks are ridiculously expensive, I would expect some mark up for a hotel of this standard but nearly £10 for a glass of prosecco is not reasonable. However there are plenty of bars nearby where drinks are far more reasonably priced and the food is better.
