We stayed here for 5 days recently. The concierges were wonderful. They pointed us to good restaurants, key sites to visit, how to use the bus system, and more. The room was extremely nice and clean. The breakfast was delicious with a very helpful staff. We were asked what kind of coffee we wanted when we walked into the room. I couldn't recommend this hotel more. We enjoyed are stay here so much.
The location is excellent, close to great restaurants, grocery stores, ATMs, historical sites, and the free trolley. Beds are comfortable, with choice of pillows(fluffy or flat), the water pressure in the shower is great, free wifi works well, there is only one English TV station. The room is clean and comfortable. Others in our group complained about loud music, but our room was quiet. Try to request a room that doesn't face the street. Although there is a hair dryer in the bathroom, it is attached to the wall and you have to keep your finger on the button or it shuts off. What a pain. I was glad I brought my own. Breakfast is adequate. Yogurt, hard boiled eggs, meat and cheese and a whole lot of pastries. Kiwis are the preferred fruit. This is not a luxury hotel, but it met our needs. We were traveling with a group, so have no idea what our stay cost but I would expect it was reasonable.
We stayed in this hotel as part of a tour of Sicily, and enjoyed our stay. The Hotel Plaza Opera is well-located, within walking distance of many of the main sites and with lots of restaurants close by. Our room was clean and comfortable, with good toiletries and towels. Some of the tour with rooms on lower floors did complain about street noise, so this might be something for light sleepers to bear in mind. We particularly liked the staff in this hotel, and found that they went out of their way to help with restaurant reservations. The breakfast room offers the usual assortment of Sicilian pastries and meats, but includes scrambled eggs as well.
We stayed here for one week from 25th February. Greeted by lovely member of staff Sylvia on reception and made to feel very welcome. Room clean and comfortable with good sized bathroom with bath and shower and nice range of toiletries and fluffy white towels. Bed was extremely comfortable I asked for extra pillows and it was no problem. Infact nothing was a problem for the staff the reception staff spoke good English and helped and guided us each day with directions bus routes and booking tables at restaurants. Breakfast each morning was in the basement which is a bit dingy as there's no natural light but it didn't matter as it's hardly a dining experience. There was a good choice on the breakfast buffet I asked for scrambled eggs most mornings which they were happy to do. Check out the roof terrace the views were fab up there. We had a wonderfully relaxing week in Palermo and would definitely stay here again if we return.
Good, comfortable hotel with reasonable service. It's walkable to the old and most interesting part of Palermo in a more modern area but very close to the docks so some of the area leading down to the docks is fairly tough. Down side is the noise particularly in the evening going into the early hours of traffic as Palermo livens up. Various types of eggs - scrambled, boiled or fried offered at breakfast but you have to ask - the staff don't tell you.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel for 5 nights. We were 3 adults in 1 room with a queen size bed and a pull out sofa. The hotel is in a great central location, the room was lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the hotel was fantastic - the staff were wonderful! We felt at home. I would stay here again for sure.
Stayed at this hotel ? for 4 nights. Its a building with rooms, not what I would call a hotel. Its well situated if you want to be in Palermo and visit the sights. There is a small reception where the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern and clean. ( The room we were in was supposed to be an adapted bathroom and wheelchair friendly ITS NOT} There is a room in the basement with no natural light, where they serve a small buffet breakfast, the staff in there were unfriendly and didn't seem to want you there I would not go there again and would not recommend.
Warm hospitality was received by all staff in this very convenient, well located, great facilities hotel in the center. Breakfast was all we needed and the Deluxe Rooms are great with good features and super quiet. Great stay Thank you
A very nice hotel in the newer part of palermo, yet still very lose to all the major sites. Nice breakfast and nice modern rooms. The parking is a little bizarre as there is self parking in a little dungeon of a parking lot across the street. Very little room in the garage and as bait stressful to park there.
Plaza Opera Hotel, Via Nicolo Gallo, 2, 90139 Palermo. Central location in the new city, on the border with the old city. Easy walk to many shops and restaurants, four corners, etc. Loudest street noise ever. Would be an issue for light sleepers, perhaps there are rooms that don't face a street. No wash cloths. Shower had a high step entry, may be an issue for some guests. Free fast wifi. Heated towel rack. Only one outlet in room, not functional in some rooms. Need to leave a key in the circuit to be able to charge electronics while out of the room, so ask for two keys. Breakfast buffet so-so, heavy on meats, breads and pastries, limited fruit, fruit juices seemed to be artificially flavored.
