The hotel's publicity says all the rooms are quiet due to the location, which is between two smaller side streets. Our rooms certainly were. This seemed possibly to be a rarity in bustling Palermo! The rooms were very nice, and the breakfast buffet abundant. The desk clerks were very knowledgeable and helpful with all our requests and inquiries. Good location and good prices for shoulder season!
Location is very good. The staff at the reception is very friendly. Rooms are clean. The breakfast is extremely good comparing to the south italian way..I recommanded to everyone.Palermo is a nice place to visit,
This hotel was rated highly by a travel agent but turned out to be extremely spartan. The bed was hard and towels were thin. It is, however, in a great location, if you don't mind being right across from a tattoo parlor. It is an easy walk to Teatro Massimo.
Very good hotel in the hart of the city, renovated and clean rooms. Breakfast is of good quality but machine made coffee is simply horrible Attention to details would improve a lot the level of the hotel Parking quite expensive but to find a clos parking in the are is quite difficult
There is so much noise at that tiny alley especially at nights. Take your earplugs! But the hotel it self was good. Clean, great beds, good breakfast with many things to choose. But if they can do something to that hullabaloo at the alley, this would be 4 star hotel.
The hotel is in the center of Palermo next to the shopping streets, very convenient location !!! The rooms are very spacious, and recently refurbished, the bathroom had an extra shower too, which was very convenient as we were a family of four. The breakfast was not up to the room standards, but I would still strongly recommend the hotel !!!
After a 30-plus hour travel odyssey from Panamá, Central America, via Madrid & Rome we were aided by the friendly folks of Palermo who guided us with directions to the Hotel Mediterraneo. Salvatore & Paolo get special mention here for their willingness & professionalism in meeting our immediate needs & going beyond the call of duty to make us feel welcome. However, the entire staff that work there should be given the gold star for their affable attitude and attention to detail. We were warned that rooms run on the small to tiny size in Europe. This was not the case here. The room was the size of an apartment & very clean. Breakfast was included & it was scrumptious (again, the staff deserve high compliments for their tireless efforts). Croissants, salami, cereals, cheese, yogurt, etc. were offered buffet style in a spacious dining hall. We stayed for 3 nights & enjoyed it so much we tried to extend but, alas, they were booked solid (all 105 rooms ). Paolo refered us over to another hotel nearby ( review pending ) & it was an excellent gesture & choice. Our only complaint was the weak wifi signal in our room. We informed Paolo & advised him that boosting the system is imperative for 21st century travelers & he concurred. The word for friendly in Italian is 'amichevole'. Even if you don't learn how to pronounce it you will no doubt experience it at the Hotel Mediterraneo. Ciao!
Firstly I will stress that as a location it is perfectly placed within the "new" city centre. The hotel itself is clean and relatively well maintained. However, there are two issues that stand out that could create a problem. Firstly the walls are paper thin and this means that you can hear everything in surrounding rooms. We heard a telephone conversion a couple of nights ago (albiet 2am and noise does travel at that time) from a man who was seven rooms away from us. You can even hear when the person in the next room goes to the toilet. Secondly the size of the shower cubicle is rediculously small. Overall its (if I have to precise) 2.5 feet square (and thats being generous. Imagine trying to access through an opening of just under a foot? Its a shame really because Sicily is such a lovely island to visit.
Spent a few days in this hotel which is very well located 100m from the popular Ruggero Settimo, with Teatro Massimo on one side and Politeama on the other. Large comfortable room. Very good breakfast and helpful reception.
We ordered a room with kitchen so we expected to have such a mini-flat/ To be honest, we expected more...But everything is in order. I 'll begin with pluses: 1. Location! - couple of steps from teatro al Massimo and the main shopping street. 5 minites walking from piazza Ruggero Settimo from where there are buses to the beach, to Palermo and many other important places. 7 minutes walking to the port. Everything is quite close to you: cafes, shops, supermarkets, transport etc. 2. Staff - guys on reception were always helpful, smiling and helped us to resolve all our questions. 3. We had cutlery in the suit and 1 small mocca for 1 cup of coffee And, unfortunately, it's all about advantages. Now all the rest: 1. When we came they gave us a room with a fridge that was totally covered with thick layer of ice inside. The temperature inside was practically the same as in the room. And also there wasn’t a safety box that should have been there. We asked to do something and they gave us another room where we finally stayed. 2. The fridge practically doesn’t function. I can imagine how many years it has. The temperature inside is practically the same as in the room. We bought some cheese late in the evening but by the morning it spoiled every time. 3. There is a range with 4 rings (1 electric, 3 gas), but only 1 electric functions. So it was possible to cook something maximally primitive. 4. DIRTY! They could clean the room once a 2 days, then didn’t come 3 or 4 days. I understand that we were during ferragosto – a national holiday, but in any case it’s impossible for a hotel to give up cleaning rooms for 4 days. Products spoil in the bags and we had to gather a cemetery of rubbish bags in the corridor for 4 days. The problem also is that there was no ANY regularity in the schedule of cleaners: sometimes they tell you that they’ll come tomorrow but they don’t, sometimes they promise to come in 2 days but come the next one and it also happens that they don’t come for 4 days too. 5. BREAKFAST – Poor choice, it’s not tasty at all and I was dumbfound to find ….soluble (!!!!!) disgusting coffee in a cheap machine. We had only one breakfast for 8 euro per person during staying just to try it and we’re so happy that we didn’t pay beforehand for this!!! 6. Сrockery in a suit is old, handles are beaked off 7. There is no place to dry wet clothes. Swimsuit could stay wet after 24 hours in a suit
