We booked based on price, location and most importantly free parking which at this hotel was underground and secure. Really not sure I would have been comfortable parking on the street in this city! Driving in was an experience This was good value for money the room on the top floor was spacious, comfortable with s fridge and terrace balcony (but no views ). The bathroom was a good size but it was slightly comical watching my husband in the rather small shower cubicle 🤣 It was very easy walking distance to the start of the old town Palace and Cathedral then we took the hop on hop off bus to see the rest of the city and Monreal We just stayed the two nights which was good to see the sights. Staff were very friendly and breakfast is definitely for those with s sweet tooth. Lots of cake and pastry not enough fresh fruit for me but coffee was good
It's a 3 star, so don't expect too much, but the staff were excellent, helpful, friendly, mostly tried very hard to speak in English, which for me was useful. Guiseppe and Guisepp in particular, and Salvo Montalato, all especially helpful. We walked around this capital city, guided often by Salvo and Guiseppe advice. It's a great place to visit, masses of different cultures, food, fantastic architecture, history. Gardens, Learn to drive all over again in this city, probably best not to hire an undamaged car, in fact the more dents it has the happier you'll feel. Many thanks to all at the hotel and all those I met whilst staying there
This was the first hotel I stayed in with a school historical tour. The hotel is a good 15 minute walk to the center of Palermo. The air conditioning did not work and more than half the light bulbs in the room did not work. The bathroom was clean, but the shower stall leaked a lot. Of all the hotels we stayed at in Sicily, this one offered one of the fullest breakfasts. In the evening there were often loud individuals on the main floor so we couldn't have our window open.
The Athenaeum Hotel is the perfect place to stay when vacationing on a budget in Palermo. The service of the staff is A+, we asked for recommendations of places to go, things to do and got great suggestions. Enjoy the bargain!
Nice hotel on the outside, nice lobby. Location is a 10 minute walk from the center, but the road to get there is busy and very unpleasant. Rooms are nicely decorated and reasonable size. Bathroom is basic and narrow. People at reception are friendly. Breakfast was bad; too much sweet stuff. Big plus: free parking.
We were moved to this hotel by Easy Jet Holidays as our original hotel had unexpectedly closed. Easy walking distance from the metro, and anywhere in Palermo for that matter. My wife was quite ill at the beginning of the trip and the staff were extremely caring and helpful. The hotel restaurant was a life saver as was the nearby pizza place and there was no problem about bring food to the room. When we were both OK we discovered that one of the concierges had written a guide book to Palermo and is extremely knowledgeable about where to go and what to see. We have been to Palermo before but he was able to tell us about some places to visit that are not in any of the guide books that we brought from England. Room was fine, clean. Bathroom superb View from the balcony towards the mountains was breathtaking. Breakfast was more than adequate, and it was possible to get real coffee from the bar. Lots of choice of bread, cheese, cold meat, pastries etc. Apart from some sickness (unrelated to the hotel) our stay was quite wonderful We especially love this very interesting working class district, which is very entertaining to walk around and explore.
I stayed in this hotel with my husband for 5 nights. As soon as we arrived in this hotel we were welcome nicely by all the staff. Our room was located on the 6th floor of the building. The room was a nice size with a comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. The room was cleaned everyday. It was not loud at all as the hotel is on a small street where there are hardly any cars driving about. The hotel is only located 5 minutes walk from the Cathedrale Palatine and only 20 minutes walk for Teatro Massimo which is the heart of Palermo. 30 minutes drive from Palermo airport. We also thought the restaurant within the hotel was lovely with a different menu everyday all served by the chef with local ingredients. We recommend this hotel for all the couples and even families who are wanting piece without spending too much money. Overall it was superb.
For me this hotel is like home (I spent more than 10 months in total), I stayed in a lot of different rooms, the staff is very kind and professional. They also have 24h. reception and free parking. Hotel rooms are big but old, all the mattress need to be replace. Toilet is OK but also very old and sometimes mouldy (in sense of wet). Cleaning stuff is very kind but the work they do is not very good. (Not too much time to clean everything). Parking spots are very small, but is FREE! You need a couple of extra maneuvers to park your car every morning and every evening. Breakfast is the worst part of this hotel: powder juice, plastic cereals, poor quality in general... WIFI connection is expensive but you can find free WIFI from near buildings ;) (Floors 4,5 and 6) Hotel is in good area, close to university, Balaro's market and train-bus station. Value for the price you pay. If you go in summer you are gonna miss the swimming.
We found this hotel to be a wonderful departure from many other hotels we've stayed in during our time (1 year) of living & traveling in Italy. The room was comfortable, clean, included most amenities you'd expect, AND a refrigerator! That's something we haven't encountered at any other authentic Italian hotel. This means that instead of paying 1 to 4 euros for a small 500ml bottle of water everywhere we went, we could buy our own 2 liter bottles, AND sodas AND beer, and milk, etc. Additionally, the front desk was very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. He speaks 5 languages, so this was an unexpected pleasure. He got us reasonably priced private tours, greeted us every time we came in, and directed us to the best local restaurants. The breakfast was typical of Italian hotels, but very tasty & lovely to look at. The shower had superb water pressure & the air conditioning worked well. At night it was quiet and easy to sleep, although the beds were a little too firm for our taste and I never like the "king" bed made with 2 twins pushed together (but such is nearly every hotel we've stayed in)--I always end up in the crack. Also, driving in/out of the area around the hotel is exceptionally challenging. We found it best to come in after 10 pm & leave by 8 am each day. Fortunately, the parking garage (also very tight) was available (free) for guests.
Very good value 3 star hotel 8 minutes walk to the Royal Palace and Palatine Chapel (which is unmissable). Big rooms for a 3* hotel. Very friendly English speaking staff. Free parking under the hotel (entrance is round the block at the back of the hotel and the green gate is directly opposite the lobby entrance). Good breakfast and good value evening meal in hotel. E20 for set menu 4 courses. Good strength wifi. The hotel was used by different coach tours on each of the three days we were there, but this presented no problem or 'rush' on the dining room! The waiting staff seemed to be able to cope with anything.
