The quiet setting has privacy with room for family & friends. Let the sound of the waves rock you to sleep. Maybe even hear the whales. Gardenias fill the garden with a wonderful aroma. Colorful tropical plants sway in the breeze, creating a delightful view from the fully screened lanai. The house is set up to sleep two couples with new queen size beds that connect by the lanai. Both rooms exactly the same except color schemes. All linens are new and are the appropriate weight for the climate for a comfortable stay.The house is super cute in a simple way .The full kitchen allows for home cooked meals.
Take your coffee and morning walk to the cliffs or Kahakai Park with lots of spots for fishing or watching the waves break.
Borrow the snorkel gear and visit Kapoho for the best snorkeling on the island.
Enjoy the restaurants in Pahoa. We had the best meals at Nings and Kaleos. Truly delicious. There really is something for every taste and budget. THE FARMERS MARKETS are amazing. Wednesdays is Hilo or Uncle Roberts in Kalapana. Saturday Hilo. Sunday Maku'u on the road to Hilo. Plus Keauu has one open everyday! There is so much to enjoy you'll have to come back many times to discover it all!

Loved this property. Quiet, friendly neighborhood with amusing chickens running around everywhere. The sound of waves, rain, frogs and birds very soothing - my gang slept like babies. Lots of room for two couples and a child - plenty of seating areas outside of the bedrooms which most places don’t have. Host Sue was very responsive to any questions too. We would love to return.

Sue is an excellent host. She went above and beyond in communicating with us and making it so enjoyable. The cottage was exceptional! She provided everything we needed and more. It was so quiet. Charming Retreat

We enjoyed our day and night of rest at this super charming place...the energy was so positive and it was just as described. The lanai area was so cozy, it made the perfect place to drink coffee, paint in the guest book and chat. The frogs sing a chorus for you at night (bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper), and the roosters roust you in the morning. We will be back!

Beautiful Property and Home

Stayed there for a few nights with my adult children. Host communicated well and had everything set up for us when we got there. Place was clean and charming. We enjoyed hanging out in the screen room at night listening to all the wildlife and playing Big Island Monopoly. We hope to make it back there again.

Wonderful Stay at Sweet Retreat

Sue was a fabulous and communicative host. Perfect location to spend time on the eastern side of the island good midpoint between Volcanoes National Park and Hilo. The screened lanai which we called ‘The Jungle Room’ was a highlight, big comfortable sitting area which is perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee and a good book while listening to early morning or evening rainstorms and birds. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood where Nene’s roam free this is a great home based to go explore the island and come home to relax.
